Need info please
The DCIS discussion board told me to come over to this one for some info. Went for first mammo in Oct. 08 was told had cals and had a bio told not worry. Two days later got a call I had dcis. I had a BCT o Nov. 14, 08 started rad right before x-mas. Last one was on Feb. 5, 09. I had severe burns from the rad. Since the beginning of Jan I told my rad dr that something didn't feel right. She told me that the pain I was feeling she neverheard of so I sucked it up on went on. For the last 3 weeks I have such severe pain in my ribs under and around where I had my surgery. I finally went to my family doctor and he sent me for an x-ray. He called and told me I have some spots on my 6th rib. He called my oncologist and I was sent for blood work and a nuc. bone scan. This also showed these spots. My family doctor said he was worried about cancer being there. On Monday I went to the oncologist (my mom went with me) he said he wanted a bio of that area. When they tried to schedule this that doctors office said I needed to have a cat scan of the area first. That report now this is where I am confussed said they didn't think this is cancer but a fracture but come back in 2 months to see if anything has changed. In the mean time my doctor wants me to take morphine for the pain and he thinks I might have oster .The pain is so bad that i have trouble walking, moving I haven't slept in I dont know how long. Has any one else exp. this type of pain. I am really nerves because two test showed alarming spots but one didn't. Also, on the cat scan it showed that I fluids at the surgery site that I have to have drained out. What is this (meaning fluids) They also schedule a MRI I go in 2 days because of some lumps in the same breast and right in the pit of my under arm. I did talk to my family doctor last night and he does not agree with what was said after the cat scan. He is also waiting on the MRI and then if my onocologist still says the same thing he wants me to go for a second opion. would appreciate any feed back.
Thank you, Kim

Kim, I'm so sorry that you are having these complications. BC is hard enough without unusual pain etc. that doctors can't explain.
I am not sure what BCT is. If that is a type of lumpectomy, did they get clear margins? I have not had radiation yet, as I am currently doing chemotherapy so I don't have personal knowledge about radiation.
If you had clear margins on a surgery then I am assuming this is radiation related.
I would start getting a second opinion lined up - we all know that these appts take time and you need some answers. I don't know where you are located but is there a large university or cancer center that you can go to?
I have a friend that traveled 4 hours to get a second opinion at a large nationally known cancer center as her state and city had really good community hospitals, but not a cancer center per se.
Good luck with the MRI - please keep us posted....sorry I am not much help!
