Lefty the recipe turned out delicious with the chicken. Thanks for a fine dinner. I feel like I may pop from eating so much.
How can they use someones old cell phones? Do the people who get them have to have phone contracts like we do? Just curious.
Makraz maybe you could talk him into coming over and doing the same for all of us
The class was very interesting and I think we are going to see it through for however many weeks long it is (10-13 I think). There were couples (and singles) of all ages in attendance. The guy who led the class was a firefighter/policeman who worked literally 120hrs -130 hrs a week trying to keep up with their lifestyle. He finally couldn't keep up and their financial world crumbled. He owed 120,000 in debt not including their house payment, yet they paid all their debt down in 3 and 1/2 years. His last payment will be made sometime in a month or two. We have to come up with a budget by next class meeting.
Barbe I only wound up getting a load or two of laundry done and one load of dishes and I didn't even have to go in to work today!
-
mom2, glad it worked with the chicken, I will have to try it and make green rice - add a package of chopped spinach. Goes good with the beef ribs. Cooking for one stinks and I end up throwing out things because making small batches does not always work or taste that good. Stir fry gets boring also.
I got a "global referral" from my primary. My insurance says it goes to the oncologist and she then can order anything from tests to chemo to surgery to labs without a separate referral. Never heard of it before, but the primary dr nurse phoned my insurance company and they were happy to explain it. It is for those diagnosed with an "ongoing" disease, such as cancer or diabetes. Even this old bag can learn something new...!!!
My thing that got done today was take the trash to the dumpster, recycling and all. I live in an apartment and they are starting a trash pickup where each of us gets our 13 gallon can that we set out by 5 pm and they empty it by 10 pm. Monday thru Thursday. This sounds too good to be true and I can hardly wait for HOT weather and everyone's stinky trash sitting out and trash cans sitting in the breezeways.
Tomorrow I will probably do a lot of nothing after Herceptin. Time to find my blankie and pillow. HUGS, Nancy
-
Momof2 - sorry, I'm keepig him!
-
Hi everyone. Some of your nicknames are too funny. I know some do not use their "real" names and I wonder how you came up with such clever or different names.
I thought I was up and at em early, but makraz, I see you beat me. Have a good day and don't worry about dust bunnies or any of those things. HUGS, Nancy
-
Morning early birds! Ok since I'm actually suppose to have money in the checking account before I go out shopping (sheesh! Who ever heard of such a thing.) I guess I will stay home and finish up those housecleaning chores I've been needing to get to. Will try to pop back in about and hour. Hope to have at least one task done by then.
Lefty sending you cyber hugs this morning and hoping coonie will be by soon to give us our inspirational picture of the morning. (I so need to learn how to do that!)
Makraz you know its not playing nice not to share...........
-
I am going to finish all the laundry today.
-
Yah know, I rember those wringers, but you can see why you had to iron EVERYTHING! We had a washer built into our countertop beside the sink and then the wringer clipped on over the sink.
I got out of bed and I'm going to work. Thats two things, yet again!
-
I haven't even had my coffee yet. I can't do anything until I've had at least one cup.
And.......some wrinkles are hard to get out
-
Sorry Mom2 didn't see your cell phone question, all cell phones will dial 911 as long as they are charged up, if you switch users or turn your phone off, it will still dial 911 - just a great safety thing.
-
The kids have half a day again today, that's the second one this week. So, I will just get some vacuuming done and a couple more loads of laundry. Then they will be home by 11:30, with friends, of course, and it will look like a tornado passed through!
BTW, I think what Cathi is trying to say if that you don't even need service for your cell phone, it will still call 911.
-
Ok, I've been reading this thread for days and have decided to join to help make me an honest woman.
I walked to the store this morning ... no small feat as I am exhausted from chemo and it's COLD! Had to stop a couple of times both ways for breaks (I don't drive) and I swept the kitchen floor (seems that's where my hair is ending up lately).
I have my next chemo on Monday, so round two ... Ding!
Taking a break, already!
-
That's true Makraz...I tried it on an old phone yesterday, and even though there is no cell service connected to the phone, you can still dial 911 for emergencies. I think that is a great feature!! We find out soome good info on these boards.....
So Makraz....you're under a tornado warning?
-
That looks about right! I've got anothe half hour before the tornado blows in. Why is it that only boys are like tornados? My friends with girls don't seem to have this problem!
-
Hey to all and welcome Nana. Just pull out a dust rag and join us! Actually how about taking a long nap after that walk then join us
Great pictures Cathi and Coonie somehow it just chirks me up to see them. I'm putting things up on ebay today. The financial guy said everyone needs an emergency fund and that was our first assignment so I"m building my fund today. I use to post on ebay all the time but slacked off after the BC for a time. Now its back to work. How does that song go.... "I owe, I owe, its of to work I go!"
As for the cleaning I'm catching up (again
) with the laundry. Even made the bed. Still haven't touched those blinds.
Makraz I will match you my two girl tornadoes anyday (complete with girlie drama)
-
I was just thinking, isn't it nice to have a thread where we are just people needing to get ordinary things done in a day? I don't know about you but its kind of refreshing to take a break from bc mode. (Don't get me wrong I'm very grateful the other threads are there when we need them) it just crossed my mind that its nice to post about every day experiences too. Makes life feel normal again somehow.
-
Mom2two - Oh, I knew there would be a response like that because I was one of those girls!! And I know what you mean about the girlie drama, that just amazes me. I walk away from the drama girls and thank God I have boys!
I was just speed cleaning the bathroom before the kids get home and naturally I thought of you all. Does anyone use all natural cleaners when cleaning? I switched after dx to Clorox Grean Works and find it works really well. I still have the harsh cleaners in the house but really don't use them. If you do use natural products, what do you use and recommend?
-
Hi Nana, glad you joined us, I was wondering how you were doing hadn't seen a post on the other thread we frequent in a few days.
So thus far this AM I have swiftered all the tile floors (dry and wet) I love those things for quick clean up. I did hall out the big vacuum for the bedrooms and Florida room.
Now I am making my cheater chocolate cake as we are having friends over tonight for a bit.
Makraz - my girls were not tornado's when they lived home they were Cat 5 Hurricanes - I am sometimes amazed at how well they keep their own homes now, and drama - oh gosh it was always something -talk about hormone imbalance
-
Welcome Nana....this is a fun group. Sometimes we get things accomplished.....and sometimes we don't
but at least we're trying!!
Mom---you're right about this thread. It makes me feel normal again. I'm slowly but surely getting there too. I finished chemo ONE YEAR AGO THIS WEEK and didn't think I would EVER have my energy back. Well, I do!! And I'm so thankful for it. I never thought it would feel good to clean house again, but it sure does!!! It's the little things, huh?
-
HAVE YOU SEEN THIS BEDROOM BEFORE?????
-
Cathi, how did you get that picture of my teens room??????!!!!!!!!!!!
-
When we moved from one house, I just put a sign on my (then) 21 year olds room stating that it was the 21-year old boy's room. My son was horrified, but I said Hey, I have to do what I have to do. We sold the house quickly and I used a snow shovel to box his stuff because he didn't get around to it. He is turning 28 in a couple weeks and I think he still has the boxes....ehehehheheehe
-
Anyone who has or has had a teenager has that picture for sure. I used to stress so much about my girls rooms, then one day I just decided hey if they wanna live like 'slobs" ok by me, I never allowed them to leave their door open and NO food was ever allowed in the bedrooms. Every once in awhile my youngest (who was the worst by far) would decide she was going to clean up the floor ( her cloths) and she would pile them together and throw them into the laundry - mind you most were clean cloths, she just thought it was a way to get them folded and put away that she would not have to do it - NOPE. I wised up to that as well (guess I was mean) I sorted through them and took what was clean back to her room, unfolded, I could not throw them on the floor but on the bed they went.
I was working long hours then, and they were quite old enough and capable enough to do their rooms themselfs.
-
When my kids were teens, I was doing laundry one day. I handed my one daughter a pile of sweaters, nicely folded, for her to put away in her drawers. She stood outside her door and tossed them in. That was the last day I did her laundry. LOL I stood there with my jaw hanging, guess all teens are alike. Then my sons, they insisted on doing their own, even ironing as young as 15. Go figure, now, they all do their own, and their family's. (and their kid's room look like their's did when they were young. Told them it's pay back.)
p.s. got my tables cleaned in the living room area. the visiting nurse was coming by today and I at them looked and knew I had to do that before she came. She keeps me honest, too.
Though I'm done for today except for making dinner. The walk did me in. achey achey achey
-
Talk about aching, my ankle has felt like it was sprained for a couple of weeks now. Hurts most when I walk down the stairs. I couldn't figure out what had happened to it till it dawned on me that when I sit at the computer I tend to curl my foot to where I rest the top part of my foot against the floor and to the side. No wonder its been hurting. Will have to retrain myself when sitting here.
-
HAHAHAHAAHA, I just unwrapped my ankle. Thanks!
-
Glad to know I'm not the only one doing it.
-
%^*^$ I just checked the update on this thread and read your post and holy cow if I'm not doing it again!
-
I got not one speck of house work done today but I did get my herceptin. What usually takes an hour and a half took over 4 hours since they were very backed up. Two friends and I chatted and visited while we all waited for our meds. Since I was there so long, I got a free bag lunch.
Now I am slightly motivated to wash the dishes in the sink. Keyword is "slightly"...
-
Does not sound like a fun day lefty. Sending a big old cyber hug your way. As for doing the dishes I can't say I am ever motivated to do them. Why can't they develop self cleaning dishes instead of sending men to the moon!
-
Thanks, m2, I often use paper plates, but coffee has to be in a real cup and I do have a dish washer, which get run maybe once a week.
Was it on here that someone was going to a financial class? Chemo brain, old age, etc... I got an email with potential mergers due to the financial merger and almost split a gut laughing at this one:
Victoria's Secret and Smith & Wesson will merge under the new name: TittyTittyBangBang
I apologize if anyone if offended, but hope it brings a laugh to others.
