I had a doc appt this am, so nothing this am.  Got the 2nd load of laundry in the dryer and I am going down to move storage boxes (all the kids summer clothes) away from the fireplace so I can start a fire this evening. We are looking at negative numbers tonight. Then I will move the other save boxes under the stairs! That will clean up the playroom some.

Thats enough to wear anyone out Cathi, you get a free pass on the house work today!

We use the Tyson southwestern chicken pieces in the bag. They are yummy in tacos and take just a few minutes to heat up. Even my teen who doesn't like eating meat will join us for these.

Lovin if there is a silver lining to all the cold we had this year I have to say it was getting to have the fires going in the fireplace. I just love watching the glow and hearing the logs crackle. Give me a hot cup of cocoa and even I can smile about the snow.

I like the chicken strips too, hubby likes beef (I don't do beef), so thought I would try and sneak in the turkey with all the right spices I really don't think he will be able to tell, my girlfirend made us Polish Stuffed Cabbage when I had my MX with turkey as she knew I did not eat beef, and he loved them,  so we shall see.  He's skinny as a rail, so its not for the weight or anything, just trying to be a bit better on the healthy eating.

recipes sound delicious ladies. I wanted to share something that I've found quite handy around home. I'm sure everyone has a roll of duct tape. Well, you can use it for just about anything. My DD has even made purses, wallets, flip flops, etc.....but when I saw this, I thought, whooooooo

    now I've seen it ALLL!!

Just saw a situation today that was similar to the one above where the duct tape would have come in soooo handy. Maybe I could carry one in the trunk of the car, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I don't know about you all but I am so very glad the jeans that gave us these views on an all too common occasion are on the way out!

mom2,  I never used it for chicken, but I might leave out the beer.   Anyone ever use beer in a chicken recipe?

Somehow my laundry multiplied when I went to play bridge and another load is in the dryer.  My grandma had one of those old irons you heated on the stove and used it as a door stop.   My mom had a wringer washer in the basement and would haul the wet clothes upstairs and outside to hang when the weather was warm enough.

Time to catch some tv and prob fall asleep in the recliner.   HUGS,  Nancy

I know that the 2 essentials for all household repairs are Duct Tape and WD 40.  If it sticks and is not posed to, WD 40.  If it doesn't stick and is posed to:  Duct tape...   Duct tape comes in various colors and also in a skinny width.   Guess who has been rumbling around the home repair store???   I live in an apartment, but needed some more hooks for my closet to hang stuff instead of throwing on the floor.

The rain is here and very dark outside, but then again, it is only 7 am.   Of course I had put off washing my car for weeks, and now it is raining...   happy Hump Day.   HUGS,  Nancy

Morning Cathi and Lefty, I've put in a load of wash but the rain outside and my body want to head back to bed after getting my little one off to school. I just am loving this new job hubby has, now he takes daughter in so I don't have to go out in the morning cold!

Hubby and I have decided its time to learn some better financial skills so we are signing up tonight for a 9 week financial class that was developed by Dave Ramsey. I use to hate the word budget but have lived the last 4 and 1/2 years with hubby working 2 jobs trying to make ends meet. Now that he has landed this better paying job and has been able to quit the 2nd I am determined to try and live within the means we have. Thankfully my credit score is great so we are going to refinance the house and get serious cutting back on expenditures. With this job he gets paid once a month instead of the twice a month like we are use to so if I go over my budget I will be looking at a very long time till payday!

Well ladies its time to get started.  I'm going to be doing the morning tidying first of the rooms I've already done the deeper cleaning on then I might actually tackle dd#2's room. Then those dreaded blinds. What have you all got on the list for today. (besides the beach Miss C)

If you can get the book from the library, Suze Orman has some excellent financial advise, even though she gears it for Women only.  Like, IF you should end up with an inheritance or get some excess monies, DO NOT pay down your debt a lot.   You still need to eat and have a place to live.  The creditors do not expect you to pay OFF the debt, just make the minimum payments.   There is little advantage, unless you are paying some horrendous interest.   And house payments are one of the few deductions allowed on income tax forms.   Just do not ADD to  your debt.  I know, easier said than done.  Taking some control is important and talking with your husb is essential.  Putting yourselves on the same track and sticking to it.

I think most will put off budgeting and taking a hard and long look at their financial status, but like most other things, IF you put in the time, it will reward you.   The difference between a smart person and a wise one, the smart person knows when to ask the wise one (the expert).

We have a good record on being on time and paying whats due but now we just want to get the principal balances down and hopefully out one day. There is a place in the Bible that says "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another..."  Thats my financial goal starting tonight 6:30pm to be exactSmile Too bad they don't teach more things in school like finances, home purchasing etc.

I think I finally had my wake up call when those 24hr news guys started down talking about how foolish people were for not knowing what was in the contracts they signed to purchase their houses and yet they were the ones pushing the ARMS and Interest only housing loans at just about every broadcast a few months back. You don't see them replaying their sound bites from back then do you. Anyway it made me realize there is no excuse for not being financially wise. It also made me realize everyone has an angle and the media is no exception. We didn't buy into the hype thankfully and got ours as a fixed loan, but it still makes me angry and sad for all the people who got those kinds of loans and now are losing their homes because of it. Like I said it made me think twice about how we spent our money and what could happen if we continue to live above our means. Does cleaning up your budget count as  housecleaning?

    Cathi,

Love the new suit.  I'm going to need one like that to cover up all the extra mtamoxifen pounds that I'm carrying around!

I have already started my laundry, now I need to run errands and then bck for ironing.  My shoulder really hurts after ironing/vacuuming alot so I try to spread them out and do a little at a tme.  My SNB caused some nerve damage.  Ugh!

It's raining in Boston today, going up to 50.  Isn't it funny that it finally warms up and we get rain.  Back to 30's tomorrow.  Spring, Spring, Spring, my new mantra!

    Happy cleaning ladies!

The recipes looks wonderful. I'm gonna have to try 'em out.

Everybody needs a little piece of chocolate cake to get the energy level high :)

Just put leftys recipe in my crockpot only used chicken instead of beef so dd#1 would eat it too. It smells wonderful and I think I'm gonna fix some rice to go with it. Anyone with ideas for tomorrows blue plate special just let me know, I get so tired of the same old things I've fixed for years, so I'm open to suggestions.

I have done 2 loads of laundry -  brushed the for ever shedding cat, we are getting our new puppy Saturday AM, so have been fixing her 'spot" so excited.  Here is a really ggod and easy pulled pork dish for the crock pot - you can use any barbacue sauce you like, just let it cook as long as you like, and just keep pulling the pork apart as it cooks.

                           PULLED PORK - CROCK POT

    2-3LB Pork Roast

    2 Tablespoons Honey

    1 Large Onion Chopped

1.5 Bottles of KC Masterpiece Sweet & Tangy Barbecue

Mix Onion, Barbecue Sauce & Honey together.

Place pork in lightly sprayed crock pot.

Pour mixture over pork cook on low until pork entirely pulls of apart (6+ HRS)

Serve on rolls w/Baked beans and/or coleslaw.

I got most of the housework done yesterday and decided to go shopping this morning instead does that count?  Bought a pressure cooker so any idea would be helpful. I have had no side effects from the new chemo which make me very happy. I want to clean out my closet of dress/work clothes and would like to donate them if any one has ideas that would be helpful too. Most are size 8/10 I really don't want to give them to good will as the charge people. Guess I"ll go poke around in the closet now.

Sounds great Cathi. I love coleslaw with barbeque sandwiches too.  Well, I have to go learn how to stay on a budget (doesn't sound like fun does it?).  Don't worry about the not getting things done today coonie, who knows you might have a cleaning fit this evening.Smile Maybe if we get everything caught up on these cold rainy days we will be able to be out playing on the sunny ones.

Denise call churches in your town or crisis centers like Teen Challenge or homeless shelters, those places usually have a great need for good used clothing for their clients. I"m sure they would really appreciate it.

I also like donating to battered womans shelters if there are any in your area.  FYI you can also donate old cell phones to shelters , they give them to woman to be able to call 911.

Cathi-----GREAT idea about the cell phones!!! I've got older relatives who don't have cell phones, but still drive. They could use one if they happen to have car trouble, or an accident.

Oh!! Housework!!! Not much today :(......did get supper cooked throughUndecided and sheets changed. I just wasn't that motivated today. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

mom2two---my brother's Sunday School class at church (young marrieds) is doing the Dave Ramsey thing. He LOVES it!!

Oh yes Connie for sure, give them the cells for 911, actually all senior centers usually take those as well.

I try and donate as much as I can as opposed to a thrift store (unless it's for a church or shelter). Organizations like Lions Club, take old glasses, they use the frames.
