Brain Mets???

I have been having awful headaches every morning.  I am afraid this could be brain mets.  I feel fine when I wake up but after about an hour they start.  Always when I am up an moving around.  If I sit down for a few minutes they will go away and then come back after I get up again.  This goes on until about noon and then I am ok for the rest of the day.  Also, I have a bloody nose in the mornings.  My Onc. advised me to see my family Dr. because she thinks it is allergies, but I really want a brain MRI.  Any thoughts?

    Keishi,

I hope you posted this on another thread and had somebody answer you there. I just saw your posting and wanted to answer. How are the headaches now? Still having them? Have you been to your PCP and tried what he suggested and then been back to your onc? I know it is frustrating to have the onc downplay your symptoms. Mine does that too. They don't seem to understand how things effect us.

Please let us know how you are doing now. If you are still having the headaches you need to get back in there and make the onc listen to you. Keep going in until she takes you seriously.

I've been worrying about the same thing!  Mine aren't as bad but somewhat continuous. I did read on a (another) site that brain mets tend to start w/headaches in the morning and ween off during the day.  Other symptoms: nausea, problem w/balancing, seeing colored specs, emotional changes (who doesn't?)

Mine are at the temple and rear lobe.  I had a meltdown yesterday reading how high my risk is. I'm barely 3 weeks post TX. I guess the only sure way to know is w/an MRI.

Hopefully, it's just my wig. Good luck to you.

    Keisha,

My husband has brain cancer, and his headaches are worse when he is lying down or at rest.  You could be having headaches for several reasons.  I would let my oncologist know and let him/her know that you'd like to see a headache specialist (Neurologist) for help.  That way, the oncologist is informed, and can decide if they need to take any additional action for you.  Good luck finding out what's going on.  I would think that if you had mets, they wouldn't be consistently occurring at the same time every day.  Make sure you take as much info with you as possible to your appointments (how long the headaches last, timeframe, what you eat for breakfast, how much caffeine youd drink, etc.), and hopefully they can get to the bottom of it.  Hope you're better soon.

Thank you all so much for your feedback.  It really helps to come here.  I have had an MRI and should have my results tomorrow.  Please pray for me!
