I went to work so I didn't have to look at what I didn't do. Work is my ONE thing for today. I can't believe how much everyone else got done! You guys ROCK! Laundry and bed-making and cupboards and shelves. Holy crap, I'm the runt of the litter on this one.

Wow 2 hours since anyone has posted, there must be alot of hard workers out there todayLaughing  I had to make a grocery run and have just put a rump roast with veggies in for dinner tonight. Lots and lots of veggies. After ironing that one shirt and pants I took the rest in to the cleaners todayInnocent of course was just thinking about hubbys well being. Don't want to shock him too much.

Ok now going over to make the bed up. That always seems to get the ball rolling (at least I hope it does).

Well, I was gone and now I am back. You gals are motivated!!!

I did 3 loads of laundry today! I am teaching my kids to do things.  Each room has a clean clothes basket that I put their clothes in (I do not fold them) and they put them away. They also each have a lingerie bag for their socks that the dirty ones go in.  Just wash and throw back. No sorting.

I think kids should be able to eat every two or three days.

Mom2---my friend did the getting rid of clothes thing. She keeps 7 pair of socks and underware, 4 pair of play shorts, 2 pair of nice shorts, 5 play tops, 3 nice tops and 1 pair of nice pants and 1 pair of jeans.  She says that she is always washing anyway so that is enough for them. I keep trying to do it, but the packrat in me hates to get rid of stuff. LOL

Well I acheived nothing that I set out to acheive today - to many work issues  -Attorneys  -UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Pam you need to come to Fla - 82 and sunny today, this is the best time of year the next couple of months, no humidity - just open windows and doors.

So I could at least get my "1 chore in" I did Windex the glass on the door to our back yard.  It was pretty bad.

lovinmomma that is SO brilliant about the laundry and the kids! I thought I was so smart to have each kid (4) have their own coloured glass. They had to put it in the dishwasher for it to ever get clean and they had to know where it was! Big difference. Also, each kid had an area in the fridge that was their's. If they didn't eat dinner they could put it there and that's what they fed out of.

Know that bed I was gonna make up this morning? Well I have to confess its still in the unmade state it was in.  Took my mom and daughter out for a bit since it was such a gorgeous day and my daughter has been asking to go find some makeup. I had already put the roast on and it smelled wonderful as we walked in. I love doing a roast, you just put everything in and many hours later its ready for dinner. Its one of the few times I will eat till I'm stuffed.

Loved the ideas on the laundry baskets for the clean clothes and the colored glasses. Keep those hints coming.

I did do some yard work though. We had a peach tree planted in our front yard and I layed scalloped red brick all around.  It already has these wonderful pink blossoms on it. Will also try planting a few other varieties of fruit trees in the back. Figure with the economy like it is we may need to grow our own food eventually.

Pam what do you sew if you don't mind my asking?

I am jealous of all you girls who are planting or gardening.  It snowed here again today so I was shoveling.....which is technically house work, right??   I mde a great dinner with lots of veggies.  The kids were hoping for french fries........bummer for them!    11 days till spring!

I stopped to get gas and they had a do it yourself wand type car wash machine.   There were 2 men washing their dump truck and I pulled into the appropriate space on the other side of them.   When they were finished, there was still time left on the machine and they washed my entire car while I just sat there.  Since I had a token for MY wash, I gave it to them for their next wash.   Smiles all around - random acts of kindness.   My car is white, so it really did make a huge difference.

Since THIS was not "me" doing the cleaning, I came home and have gotten 3 loads of laundry done, folded the towels and wash cloths, sorted the socks and hung the rest.   I live alone, so if I don't do it, no one knows.   It was in the 60's today, but someone has sent rain and only 50 tomorrow.

Had chemo today and it went great. My new fleece sheets came today so I have done one load of laundry. They are soo soft I told DH that he will have a hard time getting me and the dogs out of bed now!!!!
The pot roast sounds really good I haven't had that in years, DH doesn't like to eat red meat but I think I will have to make one. Did you do it in the crock pot?

I have to get some beef short ribs and make in the crock pot.   Add lots of sliced onions on the bottom, a can of crushed pineapple, then the meat (which I stick under the broiler for 5 minutes to get some of the fat off), a bottle of your favorite bar b q sauce and as much of a can of beer that will fit.  The beer will cook off and even children can eat it without fear of getting drunk.  It is a kind of sweet/sour taste and the meat falls off the bones.

I never heard of fleece sheets, but love flannel or knit.  After talking with a friend, I am passing on a helpful hint I have used for years:   Those pesty plastic bags that you get every time you go to a store and seem to multiply until you want them -- Take a one gallon jug from milk, bleach, detergent, and cut a hole near to top.  the hole for some detergent jugs is large enough and no other hole is needed.  Stuff the bags in one at a time.  you can hang the jug or put on top of the fridge for handy access, or under the kitchen sink.

I moved everything relating to taxes to my table so today's chore is to organize the file folders and put in the filing cabinet.  I did take all the medical "explanation of benefit" forms, punched 3 holes and put in a binder by date of service a while ago.

Coffee time,  Have a great day.  HUGS,  Nancy

Glad the chemo went well denise, but I'm like lefty and have never heard of fleece sheets. Fill us in. I always seem to have a ton of those bags too lefty but when they pile too high we have a store nearby that recylces them. I do like the idea of the milk jug to store them in.

I am finally finding some use for my menopausal early morning awakenings. This morning I decided to use it to get the living room and kitchen tidied up from last night. So now this morning I just have to focus on the upstairs. I'm determined to have the upstairs and downstairs both cleaned at once sometime this week. I use to get it done all the time. Now its like Mt. Everest to me.

I   must say though that the more clearing out I get done the longer a room stays clean. I'm trying to remember it will just take some time to get it back in hand.

BC has taught me that I want to enjoy the hubby who was there for me taking care of those miserable drains when I needed him the most and the kids who grow from those babies to young adults so fast, so when they are home I want to be "home" with them. That means knowing less is sometimes more and that managing my time means more quality time with them. So off I go to get my to do list started. The sooner I start hopefully the sooner I will get done.

Coonie got any inspirational pics for me todaySmile

If you have toooo many bags (of any sort) take them to the local thrift store or food pantry. Our local one NEVER has bags and always happy to get. I declutter, they get bags and we all recycle. Laughing.

I don't know if I get to be official member here, after my dx, dh convinced me to let him hire cleaning service every 2 weeks for the heavy cleaning. I fought him on it but now really glad he won the discussion. That has given me time to focus on the dreaded clutter. Getting this under control is starting to show and I feel like I am almost at the critical moment where it really shows. Too bad I married a pack rat and produced 2 more. At least I have converted my dd; ds is a hopeless case.

Happy cleaning or decluttereing to all.

Denise meant to answer your question about the crock pot. No this time I just put it in a large soup pot (all metal with a lid). I try to find a real evenly marbled rump roast (dredge it in flour that has been seasoned with salt, pepper, and whatever other spices you like on beef and brown in oil. I put the browned meat in the pot then add onions, carrots, potatoes, celery, diced tomatoes, a can of beef broth, a can of mushroom soup, then about a half can of water and slow cook it till its fork tender. The vegetables are so yummy, but if you like them firmer you can add them later in the cooking process.  I even added turnips in this time and they came out wonderful too.

Lefty I need to try your recipe for beef short ribs, I've never fixed them before.

Just re reading my post and I do put the pot in the oven at 350 - 375 degrees and let the oven do the cooking. Just didn't want anyone to try this on top of the stove.

Although I can be a pack rat, I do recycle the plastic bags.  It is much easier to transport them in the jugs.   If your church or school is having a flea market or bazaar, the bags in a jug are very useful.

I got one more load of laundry done, folded and even put away.   Time to go play bridge with the old folks  -- I am 63, some are in their 80's...!!!!   Hugs,  Nancy

Told my girls 4 and 5 last week that if they wanted to play with their toys they would have to remember to pick them up because if I found them on the floor I would think they were garbage and toss them out.

Now they are bugging me to death.Asked my 5 year old why she didn't go play in her room and she said, "Cause I don't want you to throw my stuff out. And I"m to tired to pick it up after I play. Playin is alot of work Mommy!"

    Sigh......

They are called microfleece sheets and run 80.99 for a king size set. They are only on sale for today and tomarrow. I actually ordered another set last night.

Mom2two thank you for the recipe I will try it this weekend..

    Coonie keep the pics coming

EWB Thats what I like about the fleece sheets they remind me of being kid!!

Oh Cathi, how did those poor women ever get anything done like that! That paddle is probably for anyone who dared wear a piece of clothing after she finally finished her laundry.Tongue out

Lefty am thinking about trying your recipe but using chicken instead since we just had beef last night. Think that would work?

bkc it sounds like you have a thinker there, you have to admit thats pretty remarkable reasoning for a five year old. That kind of forethought will come in handy for her teen years.

EWB thats why you have kids so you get to extend the play time yearsSmile I know cause how else can you explain a 52 yr old mom catching leaves the wind has blown down the street with her 8 yr old.

OH No -do  you mean thats not how I am supposed to be ironing cloths -THERES A BETTER WAY??????

Houeswork I admit I have done very little today, but I did go to the bank, Wal-greens and market this AM,  I have had the phone to my ear all day, just leave the office and it rings, which is very strange for attorneys, they usually prefer e-mail, anyway I am making tacos for dinner (Don't tell the hubby - but no beef  -it's turkey -he'll never know) . Oh yeah I did do dishes, hand washed, trying to save water  -our drought is so bad down here, with only 2 of us it's not so bad.
