I had a brief visit with Lisa #3 this afternoon and she looks terrific! And cleared to drive already, what a studette!
Sylvia - I know what you mean about missing the few things we can't grow here. I miss peonies, dogwood, and real French Lilac. But then, I don't miss scraping ice one bit! With our winter this year, I'm wondering if my 'low-chill' nectarine will even have enough chill!
Lisa
-
Hi you two Lisas..how nice you could visit...
So when are we lunching??
-
Oh YES Lisa--I forgot about my lilac tree and dogwoods---one of my daughters actually had some of the hostas here for awhile---prob against some sort of LAW to bring them here from NY---!!!!
Nice to hear you Lisas had a visit!! Sounds like you are recoverying nicely Lisa--Sooo happy for you.....
Yes---when are we lunching? I think I saw that the 28th and 29th are out for Brenda and we cannot do the 21st or 22nd cause Liz will be away? So are we into 4/4 or 4/5?
Saw my ortho surgeon this week and he said I am making bone--!!! Ulna is filling in and also at the site where the radial head was---but having alot of discomfort from the plate and screws already---Dr says i have a 50/50 chance of having to have that all removed---NOT looking forward to surgery to remove everything he put in to stabilize but I guess that is what they DO...Originally said 9-10 months from injury but man this thing aches and grates when I twist my forearm...ugh!!

I can do the 29th. I think it was nash and probably melia that can't do that day. I can't do the 28th and neither can nash because our munchkins will be in a karate tournament. Do whatever works for the majority.
-
Hey Brenda---got anyone who is looking for a 2 Br condo---?????---cheap....just kidding but anyone? Call me tomorrow and we can talk....S
-
Okay - I'm doing the 'Liz routine' here, and being decisive about our as yet rather nebulous schedule.
It looks like for the great majority of us, Sunday the 29th at Ki's at 12noon will work out. The restaurant is located in Cardiff on S. Coast Highway 101. It has a menu featuring juices, smoothies, sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, etc. with many vegetarian choices. It is reached from the SD area via 5 North to Lomas Sante Fe Dr. -left turn- to Coast Hwy./Camino del Mar -right turn- to 2591.
Is that good for you guys?
Lisa
-
Works for me. Thanks Lisa.
Sylvia-I will call you on Thursday. Sorry I did not get back to you today.
-
K- I thought I posted last night but don't see it here this am....hmmm....anyway--29th works for me---what about the time---noon work for everyone?---i will make a reservation as soon as we get a count..
-
That works for me too..
I will send out an email after we decide on a time
-
Noon or noon-thirty works great for me!
Lisa
-
Count me in. Noon at Ki's (or are we changing to noon-thirty?) Either works for me.
Jeanne
-
I'm coming, though I might be a bit late. Going up to LA for a concert the night before & may stay over.
-
Lisa, thanks for taking charge! The 29th at Ki's sounds good to me. I think I'll be dropping my son off at the train station in Cardiff that day right around noon, so I may be a little late. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Lisa #3
-
so how about 12:30??
-
Why don't we say 12:15-- and I'll make the reservation for that time?
-
Okay, dear sisters, when is this month's luncheon? I am available all days, so the one's with trips and kiddies pop in and give your best times.
Hugs, to all, Shirlann
-
Shirlann...it is the 29th of March at 12:15 pm
Ok..now where is Kis??
We need an address
Sylvia that would be great if you made the reservations
-
Hi all-Ki's is located in Cardiff on S. Coast Highway 101. 5 North to Lomas Sante Fe Dr. -left turn- to Coast Hwy./Camino del Mar -right turn- to 2591. It is located across the street from The Chart House and the Beach Hotel(I think that is the name...Las Olas is a few doors down and also a state beach is across the street --- http://www.kisrestaurant.com --I'm thinking we might be at around 10 people or so?

Good news - I've been in so much pain and have been blaming it on the tamoxifen, but have worried that it could be more. My oncologist sent me for a bone scan and it came back clear. And, I've been taking glucosamine and I don't hurt anymore
Silly me! I guess it's not the tamoxifien. Had I known, I would have started taking glucosamine years ago!
Lisa #3
-
Lisa3 - good news 4 sure!
Brenda - I went for my fill out the forms evaluation today and was randomized into one of the come & be touched groups, but I won't know which of the be touched groups I'm in (touch or healing) I guess till they do it? Or tell me? Either way, my first real session is next Monday. I hope this sucker works - I really could use some energy.
-
Lisa#3 - great news on the scan! You're so discrete - you didn't say a thing about any scan last week. What brand of glucosamine is working so well for you?
Hey, Susan - Welcome back!
Will that study you and Brenda are doing take a Stage IV patient if they are not currently undergoing active treatment? I could go for some fatigue relief, too!
I want to see those pictures of Oak Alley - I haven't been there since I was 12! In fact, I was thinking of traveling down there this Spring. I would time it for the Spring Arts and Crafts Festival, but we're all busy that weekend.
http://www.oakalleyplantation.com/calendar/arts+crafts+festival+spring/
My mouth just waters reading that menu of available foods! Not your typical Del Mar Fair crap! Did you stay in one of the B&B cottages? Did you visit any of the other Ghosts Along the Mississippi?

:::sigh::: Sweet memories

Lisa#3-Great news. I used to take glucosomine for back pain years ago. I should try it for my AI pain now. I just hate adding another pill to my pill pile.
Susan-I go for my last visit at UCSD on Monday. Then I guess I get to schedule my sessions. I can't wait.
LisaSDCA-As I understand it, as long as you are done with treatment you can do the study.
Sylvia-Are we riding together on the 29th?
-
LisaSDCA - unfortunately only Stage I-III can participate in the study. Boo Hiss. They should have another one for us!!
-
LisaSDSC - that book - which I first saw well over 30 years ago is exactly the reason I've wanted to go to the plantations for forever. Unfortunately. the food at Oak Alley looks better on paper/screen than it does in real life.
Given the original impetus, my favorite plantation was the Laura Plantation which is very different from the others - pictures are up at http://homepage.mac.com/csjcsj/PhotoAlbum43.html (Oak Alley won't let you take interior shots)
Brenda - what time willl you be on campus? My session is from 2:15-3. If you have the time to take a break & do coffee, let me know.
Lisa again - why no treatment? Are they going to redo the laser surgery?
-
I'm in the queue for the study, too, but they wanted me to wait until I was out 4 weeks from my surgery.
Brenda - I am not a pill taker either. I started out taking Mona Vie, but it's way too expensive. Then I found "joint juice" at Vons. I bought some and it's not too bad so I found the website and ordered on line. I like the "juice" better than the "finess water" but I really do feel better. My onc wants me to get an ooph so I can get off the tamox and go on AI's but I hear the se's are bad... so really don't want to change until I have to!
Guitar Girl - love the plantations, too. Last time I was back there was probably 20 years ago, but it's very cool!
Lisa #3
-
Hi all--still not sure of an exact count--told them around 10---but for those of you who are a MAYBE---Ki's is going to have a surprise for us....that's ALL I can tell you!!!
Ok Brenda want to be here at 11:30-11:45 and I'll drive?
S
-
Sylvia-Sounds good. See you then.
-
I'll be there! Can't wait~ hugs to all, Shirlann
-
I count an attendance of at least eight - I'll be there!
Susan, I'm not on any treatment because we're still waiting for the full latency effect of the radiation I had back in Dec. My next MRI to review that won't be until the end of April. However, I see my onc. on Monday to see about both Zometa (to discourage bone mets) and chemo that can cross the blood/brain barrier (Xeloda and TMZ). Both of those have been in the wait-and-see stage until the brain itself became more stable, which it seems to be doing.
Lisa
-
Susan-My appointment Monday is at 10:30 at UCSD. I don't know how long it will take but I should be done by 11:30 I would think. Then I have to be back in Vista by 2:00.
