Get in the car and drive with the Pink Panther sound track playing full volume.

What's your trick?

Two things that are sure to bring me back in line.

Just get in my car and drive, loud music playing, as fast as I can. I have been known to

get 2-300 miles away, if I am really upset.

Second thing. Just get down in my dogs big bed in the kitchen, and get curled up with them all piled on top of me, TRY and sleep, then I need a shower because I stink !

Wow, this is a great thread! Maybe no one here gets down though, so they're not answering..?  Well, I'm mostly pretty upbeat, but I sometimes feel sort of lonely and disconnected...like no one gets it, ya know? When I'm feeling that way, I put on some wild club music or something with major guts 'n beat (recently, Beyonce's "All the Single Ladies") and dance my ass off! Don't stop until my legs literally give out. Then a long, luxurious shower followed by a cup of hot raspberry or peach tea. I crash in my chair with my cats sprawled on my lap. Ahhh.......

Marin, I've been known to have a dance party by myself in my living room.  I tell DH I need some alone time.  Maybe a glass of wine to loosen up.  It gets rid of that frenetic energy and just "resets" my brain.  Music and movement have always done wonders for me.  Actually, it's one of the things in life that I do to feel good even when I don't feel like crap.  I don't care if I'm 52, I'll be swinging that bod until they take me out in a box!

Another thing that gets me out of myself is a trip to the art museum.  It just takes my attention away from little ol' me and to looking at color, shapes, mysterious and beautiful works of art that demand attention from my soul.   Sometimes I meditate to get in touch with ME.  Other times it's just appropriate to have a good cry or punch a pillow.  Exercise does wonders, too.  It's a matter of deciding of whether you need to feel what's inside your head, or if it's a rerun you need to skip!

So, music seems a fairly common thread.  Movement, too, if you count the car! LOL

Yes, you girls always cheer me up.  I'm not a down person at all but everyone has their days, don't they?

Sometimes just being fresh to my dh does the trick.  I act out and when he protests, I turn around and wiggle my butt at him.  Always makes the two of us laugh.  Now he does the same thing to me!!!

DH also likes to buy peanuts in the shell and sit in the LR eating them, getting shells and skins all over the place.  Bad boy.  Here are the new snack bowls I bought for us at Target.  Only $2.99 each, melamine.  He gets the monkey! and I get the monster.

It always makes me feel better to be naughty.  Wink

love the snack bowls Tina.  And I love that everyone cranks up music and dances. If you watch Grey's Anatomy, I always love when Meredith and Christina Dance it out, and on a recent episode Derrick danced it out with her too.

I can't wait until spring weather. The first day I get to put my top down, and drive on the beach by my mom's house-- I have my route all mapped out, it's about an hour round trip. I crank the music and go, and usually wear a strapless shirt to soak in the rays!!! OH, I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Varies depending on the degree of blues.

    1. Stay in my PJ's under a nice comfy quilt and read and read and read some more.

2.Run on the treadmill or in the park if weather permits.

    3. Snuggle with my dog

    4. Plug into the iPod and dance around by myself.

    5. Get on this website and send pm's to those I know will understand. Kiss

I've been enjoying cooking again lately.  Hadn't felt inspired for a while, but I've been in the mood to try some flavorful and complex recipes.  I'm not one of those natural cooks, but I do like going through cookbooks and finding dishes that look interesting.  Anyway, one thing has led to another, and I had an interesting week making homemade curry powder (grinding all kinds of seeds), homemade ketchup, and a flavorful meatloaf (tomorrow's dinner with guests).  I made the ketchup to use in and on top of the meatloaf, but I'm also going to use it to make homemade Russian dressing and prepare Reuben sandwiches on Sun. night.  I also went through all of my spices and condiments and cleared out duddy looking stuff and replaced with fresh.

Yesterday I treated myself to a facial and had my brows done.  And today I had a haircut.  My stylist has been out on maternity leave for several months and I hadn't had a haircut since before my exchange surgery . . . probably late last summer (egad!!).  Anyway, I've actually enjoyed letting my hair grow out and be long and flowing -- had several compliments.  So, I asked my stylist to trim it but keep the layers long.  Hey, I'm turning 52 next week and I feel kind of sexy again:  new boobs and bras, smooth skin and a new longer haircut.  I gave myself a pedicure and manicure the other week, so I feel like I've done my spring cleaning!!  Now, THAT makes a woman feel GOOD!!!!

Now if I can just translate all this new-found enthusiasm into the bedroom.  Baby steps!  I'm getting there . . .   Why didn't anyone tell me that all these changes would wreck havoc in so many areas of my life!!!!

A few things that really help are getting out in the fresh air and gardening when the weather is good and walking with my dog.

I also really enjoy decorating my house, painting and rearranging.  Also getting out to estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores are fun with a friend.  And when my daughter's home from college just being with her!

Sometimes when I'm a little blue, just thinking of these things gets me happy and motivated.

I like to watch a good comedy like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. I get to laugh a lot and cry some, too.
