Tina - my brother gave me the Acer netbook and I love it! Using it now, as a matter of fact. Wink

It is soooo light compared to commonly used laptops and it is truly amazing the capacities and capabilities it has.  Do I sound like a commercial? It is so cool to be able to take it outside to the sunshine in the garden and still be able to get my correspondence caught up (haven't been doing much of that since I've had a guest for over a week).

I have the royal blue (so my color). You might be happiest with the red if that's your color.- just watch the site for a few days - they replenish stock in no time, IME. Did you check Frye's or Best Buy? Or did they go out of business?

Beth ~ I love the Spring boots, I know that they would be soiled beyond redemption in a matter of weeks - so I definitely could not justify the expense, myself. Maybe your lifestyle would keep them cleaner for longer? I do love my Uggs - got 'em on ebay.

Lisa, thanks for the feedback.  I called amazon and they don't know when the color will be released.  The woman said if it's available to pre-order on the site it should be soon but she cannot say when.

I did find the smaller version (8.9") in blue at Best Buy outlet for $239.99.  With shipping and tax it would be $272.00.  It looks like this has the mouse buttons on either side of the pad instead of beneath the pad.  Since I've never used the pad (I have plugged in a mouse to my regular laptop) I wonder if I would notice the difference.  It would be saving only about $27 over amazon but it wouldn't be the 10.1", 6 hour battery OR the red color.  Any feedback on the mouse buttons?

I would definitely wait for the 10.1 over the 8.9... I know you checked the regular best buy outlet- but did you check the regular best buys? I know you've been talking about getting the computer for a while, so I can understand just going for the blue one.... BUT- I have to tell you, I spend so much time on my pink sparkly laptop, and I know for me, I LOVE the color! And I love looking at it... I fell like you've waited this long- the red has to come in stock soon. Maybe just a few more weeks??? Then go for the blue?

Finally gave in and went to the doctor today after coughing for two weeks. I have an upper respiratory infection. So of course, my mom calls after the doctor being all motherly and worried, about nothing more then a stupid chest cold... BUT, I mention the boots to her, and I just got home from the pharmacy, and she sent me an email with the receipt from Zappos!! They should be here in a week. I will spray the heck out of them with the Aldo defense spray, and I won't wear them in cruddy weather. I am soooo excited. I will take pics as soon as they arrive!!!!

Barbwe, I tore a scrap out of InStyle with recommended aubergine eyeshadow. I have carried this scrap all over the house, but now do you think I can find it? It was Revlon. I was thinking for smoking your eyes....Kiss

Well, I still haven't done anything about the computer.  When in doubt, I do nothing.  Keeps me out of too much trouble.

I think I will just wait for the red.  I've been so long without it, what diff will it make?  I truly love red, although that blue is not a bad color.  Laughing  You never know what you will do in the heat of the moment, right?

barbe, I cannot tell from your next to last post if your mother has been gone a long time, in which case you have my sympathies, or if she has just died, in which case you have my double sympathies.  In either case, I agree with you about Beth's mom.  I could use one of those, too.  More specifically, a grandmother.  Mine just adored me and I them.  One would put me to sleep as a child, rubbing my back, making lullaby noises, as I dropped off to sleep.  I'm still a sucker for a back rub.

Why is it, though, that husbands start out rubbing your back and then progress to other parts just when you are getting in the zone?  Just when it's the LAST thing on your mind.

Tina, my Mom died in 2001 and my Dad in 2005. I am an orphan! No grandparents left either....sigh.

As for the back rub, you have to make it known right from the outset that there is no sex involved but you will make up for it later...wink, wink. (Depending on how GOOD the back rub is of course!)

I love how the millionaire matchmaker says it... that women are like crock pots, and need to simmer slowly, while men are like microwave ovens, and ready in ten seconds.

My UGG boots arrived this morning (gotta love zappos 24 hour free shipping both ways rule!!!)

I really love them, and I think they will be perfect for jeans, and leggings, and lounging around the house.

Barbe I don't think I can put my mom up for adoption. She's still got her hands full with the four of us. G-d love her, and her jewish mother worry/guilt/daily phone calls 4x a day. I can't even imagine what it's going to be like when me or any of my siblings have babies. But that's an entirely different forum....But you can always have me for a sister!

Tina, I searched for other red laptops, but the Acer def. has the best price on it for what you get. I would wait for the red one and get exactly what you want.

    Thanks anyway Beth.............

I agree about waiting for the red. Tina, you've talked about red from the get-go so the blue would be "settling". Some things are just worth the wait.

Tina - sorry for the late response. I have the 8.5" Acer. The light weight  and small size were priorities for me. I have never had any problem with battery capacity, but I've only had it since Nov. so my experience is limited. As far as the buttons on either side of the pad, I got used to it. I've had very limited experience with laptops at all, so it was all a steep learning curve for me!

But I  say get a RED one!.I'd love to see your pink sparkly one, Beth!

I have the sony vaio laptop that they show on the best buy commercial-- where the kid sells the laptops to the mom, grandma, and daughter... they show the mothers company called pinks, and then they show the pink laptop. I love it.

The biggest thing about laptops, and the battery life, is to always plug it in, and fully charge, and then always use in UNPLUGGED, and wait for the battery to totally drain again, before plugging it back in. If you keep it plugged in all the time, I promise you in one year, you will need a new battery, and they are not cheap.

Thanks for the UNPLUGGED advice, Beth. I was just doing it however it was convenient - if I was outside or out & about it was on battery, but plugged in while I was near an outlet. I'll let it drain down some now.

I haven't seen the Best Buy commercial because I watch no tv - but it sounds cute!

Beth, I didn't know that...I have the blue Acer.

I watched Real Housewives of NY episode where Jill's mom Gloria "adopts" Bethenny!!! Everybody needs a Jewish mother; I had one, only she was Southern Baptist!!!Wink

I learned the plug lesson the hard way. I also learned that there are cheaper batteries out there if you search for the right deal online, but if you never have to replace the battery for the life of the computer, even better.

My UGG boots are so warm and perfect. I wore them with black leggings and a cream oversized turtleneck sweater... gosh whats that material called? Its really soft usually you see throws made out of it? Chambre or something that sounds like that word I just made up???

It was a delicious outfit. Woke up to a dusting of snow on the ground, but tonight we are supposed to get 6-10!!! UGH, and I thought the harsh winter was over.

Someone was asking about sources for dresses a while back.  One of those unsolicited catalogs came in yesterdays mail and they had quite a few casual dresses in the $49.99 to $59.00 range.  Try http://www.northstyle.com/

Take a look at Red Gingham Dress Item #: N9254 I think I've just gotta have this one.  Think shades of the movie/musical State Fair blended with Lana Turner.  Picture it with high-wedge red espadrilles and a big, straw shopping bag.  Perfect for those summer trips into town for a few groceries.

I also like this top for something a bit dressier than a t-shirt for shopping.

    Empire Waist Embroidered Blouse
Item #: N0959   in aqua.  Nice over white linen capris, don't you think?  Maybe a cami?  Maybe in hot lime?

Wow! I loved a ton of their stuff but never order online. Where are they located? I've seen great stuff on a hangar that looks like poo when I try it on, so I am leery of buying without trying. Also, I live in Canada and would have to pay duty when it comes in and I don't get it back if I have to send the item back! So....

I don't have the catalog in front of me but I would guess in the upper Midwest somewhere judging from their name.  I just ordered those items so I'll let you know when they come in how the quality is and where it was shipped from.  I order a lot from Garnet Hill which is in NH but ships out of Ohio, so you never know.

Mostly I order things that I can judge will fit closely enough but are alterable if a tad too big.  I wouldn't order certain things, like pants/jeans, as the fit is so crucial.  I'm a hard fit in that area because of my bottom curves.  (That's putting it nicely. LOL)

I used to order from Coldwater Creek, and I know lots of people who like them, but I was always disappointed in the quality.  Both items I ordered are 100% cotton so how bad can they be?

OOOOOooh I used to LOVE the Coldwater Creek catalogs. I LOVED everything in them. Then I figured out it was because the clothing wasn't on bodies and therefore I didn't pre-judge. I really feel that I was left out by not ordering, so I'm glad (sorry to you) to hear that the quality sucked.

Fashion emergency. So every year the UCF has a big event, and this years event is this Monday night in Baltimore. Vern Yip (from trading spaces) will be there, and it's going to be a fun night of cocktails, and cancer advocacy, as well as Vern giving away some designer chair thing- or something like that.

Anyway, five survivors were chosen to receive complimentary tickets, and guess who was chosen? Yup, me. And I just got the call yesterday. I had to type my story for UCF for press stuff... Yeah, I started typing at 10 this morning and finished at 3 this afternoon.

I'm going to leave for Baltimore Sunday, and the event is Monday and I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!!!!  It's going to be 50 degrees, so it's not warm enough for a spring dress, but it's too warm for a winter sweater dress! I can wear pants too, so of course I have the good old standby black dress pant, but no top!!!

Needless to say I don't have time to order anything, so it looks like I have to hit the mall tomorrow.

I spotted a black dress on line that's short and has a ruffle from the collar all the way down the center of the dress and it's belted. I thought I could pair it with some black tights, and then some type of bold colored heel like red, with red bangle bracelets on my arm.... the dress is cotton/spandex, sleeveless... casual but dressy.

I have one day to find an outfit. Either a gorgeous over the top blouse that's colorful and flowy to pair with the black pants, or a cute dress that's not too dressy.

I can't believe I have one day to pull this together. I'm sitting here looking at my closet, and nothing is jumping out at me. I think I'll go to Macy's and see press my luck at INC. They usually have dresses that fit me well.

    Wish me luck.

Since it's freezing in DC at the moment, I guess 50 sounds warm?

The First Lady is wearing sleeveless lace; why not you? Just be sure you have something to cover up with!

BARBE: I knew I'd find that scrap...it was in my purse. "Glittery Aubergine---tiny sparkles give eyes a pretty twinkle```Cover Girl Exact Eyelights in Black Ruby, $9, drugstore.com"

This may be a stretch, Beth, but can you wear that dress you had made for your big party but pair it with a casual type jacket?  I don't remember exactly what the dress was like but that sort of mixed look seems very big right now.  The dress might be too dressy but it IS a coctail party and a big event so may be more appropriate than you think.

That dress will never be worn again on so many levels... There is a huge pull in the sheer fabric in the back that happened when I was leaving the party. Two, it's soooo over the top shocking pink, that unless it was my party, that dress should never be worn anywhere else...Three- it's way too dressy for this event. The dress for this is business casual.

I'm off to the mall after I hop on the treadmill for a bit. I have a good feeling I'll pull something together!!!!

ahh, my post just got lost. Anyway, I was saying that INC has some really pretty transitional and spring tops in great colors that would go well with the black dress pants.

I got a little crazy at INC.

I found two dresses for the event, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with one of them over the other. They are both knee length spandexy material. One is black and white with huge bold patterns, and the other is black with green and teal patterns.

I went to Macys' and found two adorable bags on sale. I got a deep red patent leather to wear with the black and white dress, and a yellowish green patent leather bag (both same clutch) to go with the other dress.

I also got a pair of jeans, and three tops. I love INC, and their clothes fit me so well I couldn't resist.

I really think I'll wear the black and green/blue dress to the event. That's why I got some great teal/blue eye colors from Sephora to really set it off.

I'm going to see if I can find pictures of both dresses to post.

I also started playing with my hair this morning, and I pulled it into a low pony tail, and grabbed a wide piece of bangs, and swept it to the side of my face.  It looks awesome, and literally takes 5 minutes to do. I think its the perfect hairstyle for bnoth of these dresses.

    pics to come.
