Hi i was wondering how old you were when diagnosed. i was 61. well i have turned 62 now. i hope i am not being to nosey. i have just been wondering. my doctor said i had my cancer for a couple yrs though. god bless..

Hello Joyce Anne,

I am 37 and was just diagnosed on 3/15/05. At this point I am looking at 24 weeks of Chemo. to begin next week. So, if all goes well, I will be 37 at the end of treatment as well. Oh, and I found the lump myself during a BSE, and before I knew it, was scheduled for my baseline mammo. What a baseline! My first mammo led to a primary cancer!

2 months after my 47th birthday. I'm now 49 1/2. Docs said I had mine 5-8 years b4 diagnosis. yet it never showed on any mamograms. Susan

I was 50 years old when officially diagnosed. Went undiagnosed for at least 1 year. BE VIGILANT. If you think something is wrong, pursue it on your own. You can't always rely on your doctor.

I was 46 when diagnosed and after treatment will be 47. I think I had my breast cancer about 6 months. It was not on the mammogram in July of 2004. Makes me really wonder how long I have had it. I have had mammograms every year since age 40 and had a baseline at 35.

I was 60. Have "dense" tissue, but all previous mammos had been o.k, This showed up as microcalcifications.

One month after my 59th birthday. (fortunately, i had delayed it for a family vacation, glad I didn't know on vacation) It was on the films from the previous year, but not identified. Most lesions have been there for about 7-8 years. We were actually watching microcals on the other breast for about 6 years. Go figure!

Originally saw my family dr approx. Dec. 18th, 2003 as felt lump. Did mammogram & ultrasound first part of Jan. Told it was cyst. Back in Oct 2004 to have cyst aspirated with ultrasound - saw surgeron instead as ultrasound looked iffy, and on Nov. 16th had lumpectomy. Found out moderately differentiated invasive ductal carcinoma, Stage II on Dec 2nd. Estrogen and progesterone negative. Back in on the 17th for sentinel node and take out more tissue. Turned 48 on Dec. 14th. Finally got started on chemo March 3rd. Treatment is every 21 days for 6 treatments and then 6 weeks of radiation (5 days on/2 off).

I had my cancer for 6 months. It was a fast growing sucker and I was really lucky to have found it when I did!

Wow. So many women in their 30's and early 40's responding to this. My heart goes out to all women going through this, but especially those who are so young. I can't help but wonder, is it the advanced medical technology that allows us to catch this so much earlier than ever before? Or is it something "in the air" (or in the beef, chicken, water, etc.) I prefer to believe the former and feel so very fortunate to have benefited from these advancements myself. I was dx last summer at 48.

I am 43 and have not been dx yet. I have a biopsy next Wednesday for 2 small clusters of calcifications. First to have any type of problem on either side of my family , my 3 sisters have all been clear w/ no problems. Blessings to all of you.

I was 40 when I found my breast cancer in the shower doing a BSE in 2002. It must have been fate because I was scheduled for my routine mammo and uiltra sound (had been getting them since 29). I called my gyn and she changed it from a screening to a diagnostic. I pointed out the area to the tech and she did the mammorgram and then place a sticky magnet on the area and redid that side. Next onto the ultra sound and that's when the radiologist came in and also did the ultra sound. After I was dressed she came in and said there was definately something there that should not be and that's when my rollercoaster ride began. Well at least that's what it looks like but I beleive it began 15 months earlier when there was something there and we repeated the mammo and ultra sound 3 months later it was gone. I have a hard time believing it was gone and then a year later it's back. But I am grateful we found it and the medical professions did not just blow me off. I turned 43 this past February and hope to see 83.

I was diagnosed with a small tumor with a mixture of low grade IDC and DCIS in February 2004...just a week after my 49th birthday. The tumor showed up on the first mammogram I'd had after skipping them for about 7 years. I was already in menopause at diagnosis and now I'm 50!!(still can't believe I'm really that old!!)
