Is it hot? Does it "hold onto" bumps and lumps? Does it wrinkle?  

Doesn't wrinkle much these days.  I bought a few things years ago that were a Tencel/cotton blend that wrinkled a lot, but the pure stuff is pretty good.  It's about like good quality silk or combed cotton, so you can't go wadding it up in a ball, but it's not like thin kinds of silk where you look like crap from just putting on a seat belt.  I work in it, Barbe, driving around all day and doing PT with my patients, and I was not all wrinkled at the end of the day.  And I have hot flashes and I don't feel hot in it.  It's a good fabric for these transitional seasons.  And the way it drapes is wonderful.  If you find something in your favorite color, it will make that color look incredibly delicious.

Neimans by Mail often has Tencel sportswear, very travel-worthy. Book report:

1.  Very entertaining read.  Good to read when you really should be doing something else.

2.  Everything here (at least 99%) was stuff I (probably you) already know.  Really.  The sole exception was the recipes for hors d'ouevres.  Did I spell that one correctly?  I might want to copy some of them before returning the book to the library.

3.  Since Clinton is obviously so correct grammatically, socially, and in the fashion sense, why did he not know not to use the word "freakin'" in his book, never mind title?  I know I may be seen as somewhat old fashioned, but that is so vulgar and distasteful.  Almost as bad as the word "suck."  Come on, has everyone forgotten that freaking is derivative of frigging, which means f---ing?  Geez.  How can you pretend to be so fabulous when you use words like that in public?

End rant.

Now, I'm waiting for my copy of How to Have Style to come in through ILL.

BTW, when I was in Macy's the other day, buying up all those cosmetics, I noticed rack upon rack of lovely spring shawls.  I think I'll have to go back and look those over again as I imagine one would look so pretty over my black suit jacket and "spring" it up a notch.  Lent starts this week so Easter cannot be far behind.  And, unlike when I was a child, there is no new Easter outfit waiting in the wings.

barbe, I remember the term for certain shoes as being FMPs.  The last word is Please.  LOL

Don't forget, the stars were in Los Angeles, not Ontario.  You would be nuts to go out like that in your climate, even mine here in New England.  I know I'm dating myself again by  mentioning a little concept like "common sense."  Gimme a break.

OK, so I have not been able to wear high heels since 8th grade with my first foray into heels and the instant development of bilateral Morton's neuromas (which are as bad as they sound). But a couple of weeks ago I was in Marshalls and fell head over heels (if you'll excuse the pun) over a pair of $15 shoes and a pair of $20 shoes with heels that are actually semi-comfortable (meaning that I'm not keeling over in wracking nerve pain after 10 minutes). I actually wore one pair all day including a 1 mile walk to town after work (but didn't do great after that).

Are there insoles that can help take some of the pressure off/cushion the metatarsal area that takes all the weight?

Is DSW as good as I hear it is?

I have suddenly fallen in love with shoes and want a whole closet full of them. Until I "retired"  last April I only had 2 prs- sneakers and a pair of sensible blk pumps. Now that I am not on my feet all day at work, I have found some shoes that are more comfortable and fashionable!  DD and DH are most impressed.

I hear you on the Morton's.  I have them, too.  I suffered thru wearing them for years at work, but I was able to sit when I needed.  But I've hiked a lot of hospital halls in heels.  Med. high.

I had special platforms/bars on the soles of my nursing oxfords to take the pressure off the ball of the foot--they worked wonders when I was doing clinical.

BethNY - thanks for the tip on cleaning jewelry - that is awesome.  You ladies certainly are fashion mavens.  I have a ton of pierced earrings - some I have collected since I got my ears pierced when I was 18.  I am 62 now so you do the math.  Even if they were not antiques when I bought them they are now!

My problem - my right ear healed itself so now I have to make an appointment at a doctor's to have both re-pierced.  I would have done it before but what with the breast cancer I had other priorities and didn't feel like going through the cleaning process required to keep newly pierced ears clean.  I would see a doctor not a mall store for the piercing because I am a diabetic and have trouble healing.

I like a purse with a lot of pockets, inside and out.  The problem is I can never remember where I put things.  I will look at one of those organizers.  What I really need is a purse that responds to voice commands and whatever I need pops up.

BTW, since I am now flat, I guess I will be wearing scarfs and chunky necklaces!

My floors are soft pine and they are so beat up that the extra heel marks just add more character.  Of course, my house is over 250 years old.

My girlfriend's little sister pierced my ears with a sewing needle when I was about 17 and she was about 14.  So, they were a little cock-eyed but who cared?  Eventually, I stopped wearing earrings and the holes closed up.

Thankfully, my feet are as trouble-free as my stomach.  Cast iron.  I have actually never had indigestion to speak of (green peppers and cucs make me burp) and have never had heartburn except for an incident caused by Senokot when I was on chemo.  I haven't had so much as a head cold in at least 15 years.  I cannot understand why I got cancer........

Years later I decided to wear earrings again.  I just greased up the posts of some solid gold earrings and pushed them through the scar tissue.  No problem.  However, I do agree that if you are diabetic or have any healing issues you should go to a medical professional for a clean job.

Let us know about the UGGs.  I don't wear them but loved my fleece-lined scuff slippers.  I wonder if the problem is moisture retention in boots?

I've never been in a DSW but think I will go out of my way to find one, although I'm sure that the stores in my neck of the woods are not so impressive as in NY!  New shoes are good.

Um, I think the UGG knit boots are cute but too warm looking for spring.  They look "bundle-uppy."  JMO

Of course, the knock-offs may be cheaper but not often as nice.  Or, maybe we just get used to the real thing and then everything else looks "off."

Beth, I suppose you don't like those rubber-soled sporty shoes that are so popular now.  Something like the J-41 Leo's or Aquarius?

LOL  Well, it is kind of tongue in cheek.  I think it's kinda funny.

I am in a fashion quandry today, too.  I've decided on buying a netbook for the house so I can check email and surf after hours.  (My other computers are in my office so that's why I'm never online at night.)  I've looked at the netbooks in a few stores and have pretty much decided on the Acer.  I was going to get the 8.9" for $299 but now I see that amazon has the 10.1" with 6 hours of battery instead of 2.25 for only $349!  I've gotta have it.

Okay, here is the issue.  It is currently in stock in the blue.  They have ruby red listed but it's not in stock yet.  I have no way of knowing WHEN it will be in stock.  I prefer red, although the blue would be okay.  It looks like a deep royal.  Oh boy.  I want it NOW.  I can almost taste it.  Should I take a chance and wait for the red?  I'm ready to buy.  Ayeeeeee!
