Is anyone familiar with this type of weight training?  Marin???

There is no SuperSlow facility in my state but I wonder if the principles are taught in regular gyms???

That is how I was taught to do Nautilus. In fact the Nautilus system I was doing it on would beep at me if I went too fast (and who wanted to be the one that was being beeped at all the time????). As the article said iin the conclusion - that's the kind of challenge I like. I found it made me focus more on form and it just felt better to me. I don't do Nautilus anymore (the new gym I went to bought new machines that are all too big for me) but do free weights and cables and do them slow.

As I said in my PM to you, Tina, this form of strength training is effective, but any method's success depends upon compliance. When I prescribe exercise for clients, I always take 3 things into consideration: 1) Is it safe?; 2) Is it effective?; and 3) Is it FUN? Only a program that corresponds to an individual's interests and goals can actually work in the long run, right?

As for the speed with which one ought to lift weights, perform crunches, squats, lunges, etc., it should always be slow, methodical and crisp. Otherwise it can be dangerous or merely ineffective.

    I hope that this helps!

Hi Tina - just saw your post so don't know if you are still watching this.  Anyway, I have been doing Super Slow with a PT for over 2 years and love it.  I go once a week for a 30 -40 min. session and boy it's a killer.  But, I will tell you that this has changed my late 40's body like nothing!  Love it but curse it while I am doing it.   Of course I have not been able to work my upper body for the last 7 months but look forward to the day I can slowly work back into that.  Let me know if you have any questions!
