Please explain this chemo...is this in place of doing surgery?

Neoadjuvant chemo is usually done to shrink tumors before surgery. I had chemo after my surgery, but someone will probably come along with more information for you.

It is chemo that you have before surgery. I am having it to shrink down my tumpors so I may have the choice of a lumpectomy. I am having 8 rounds of treatment. Some people have some rounds, then surgery and then more chemo.

I had this too.. but it was not so much to shrink the tumors for me as it was to make sure my cancer ( Her2+) did not spread... As I had it in at least 1 node. We still need some type of surgery after...
