Want to Make Sure I do not have IBS

Have had a crusty rash on my left breast on the aereola, also itching and a different color patch

above the nipple area. Doctors gave me antibiotics, cortizone and mammogram. Finally was sent to a dermatologist who did a needle biopsy on the aereola. He gave me more cotizone (stronger this time). Called me to tell me the results did not show any cancer, just thickening.  The rash has not gotten better and I do feel some soreness on my left side under my arm pit. I am concerned because I believe the rash should have cleared up long ago. Have had this for over 3

months now.  Should I insist on seeing a breast cancer specialist?  I am 71 years of age and perhaps the doctors feel that at my age I do not need to see another specialist. I am a young

70's lady and want to live much longer to enjoy my grandchildren and family. Thank you

all for any advice you can give me.  Appreciate it so much.  Lettie

    Lettie:

I would deffintely get into see a breast specialist the first thing I would ask the surgeon if he/she knows anything about IBC.  IBC is a rare and aggressive type of bc you would be surprised how many doctors have never heard of or seen IBC.  What they need to do is a biopsy of crusty rash in order to get the diagnosis.   The sooner you know what it is the faster you can get the correct treatment.

Please send us an update on how you made out.

Keeping my fingers cross that this b9.

    Hugs

    Laura
