Great news on good test/scan results. I will have my port in until at least August, but I am happy for those getting it out and speedy healing after. Tomorrow is my Herceptin treatment and the snow should not be coming this way -- yet. Hope everyone has a good rest of the week and week end. HUGS, Nancy
-
Lliz19 good luck with your port removal and congrats on the scan/test. I have my port for awhile yet. My onc uses it to draw blood so I will probably have mine for at least the next year.
HunkyD my hair isn't curly. It looks pretty straight which it was before unless I used product and a curling iron. Right now my hair on top of my head sticks up. The students think I'm cool with my spiky hair. HAHAHAHA!!!! Still waiting on my counter tops and range then my kitchen will be complete. I have everything back in the cupboards so my house is semi back to normal. What ever normal is.
I have stimulated the economy for all of you. Husband and I bought a new vehicle, built a shop and re-molded the kitchen. I hope this has helped all of you as I did this as a public service to all of my fellow mankind. You can thank me later.HAHAHA
Good day and happy thoughts.

Hey Junies........I finally got some good news........I got my drain out this afternoon......and PS was so happy with how I was healing......that she went ahead and booked me for surgery on March 2nd to reinsert the new tissue expander......she will fill it at the time to match the other side.......and she doesn't even think I will require a drain.........this is exactly what I was hoping was going to happen today......but with the luck I have been having lately.......I thought for sure there would be some kinda bad news or complication........turns out I will be caught up and making progress again in no time.
Just had to share my good news........DH and I are staying in the city tonight and going to a Toronto Maple Leaf Game.....almost feels like a little celebration........on the hair front.......mine's not curly.......but definately has some body......I was very curly precancer.....so we'll see........I'm getting the itch to do some more funky colouring.......maybe some blue or purple this time......will post some pics when I do change it up......
Cheers to all.......I think of you all daily.......and hope that everyone gets some good news soon.

Karen, What a great time to go to Mexico. What area are you going to? Have you been to Mexico before? My husband and I went last year just before I found my lump. Had a blast. Loved the weather.
HunkyD I didn't have to work today and I was a couch potato. Slept off and on all day and I'm sure I will sleep good tonight. I'm beat by the weekend and have a hard time being motivated. When I get my kitchen finished, I'm getting a cleaning service. One, I hate cleaning and two, it will be a treat to myself.
Jax about time you got some good news. I think you are finely on the up swing. YEAH!!!!!! Where do you get you hair color? I want to try some funky colors for my students.
Liz19 keep drinking water. We want you to come through your surgery as fast as you can.
To everyone have a great weekend. Keep everyone posted on your happenings.

Have a great time in Mexico Karen. Soak up some sun and warm for me please. You definately deserve a trip. I wish I was there now. Instead, I am sitting here in my sweats. As far as being tough and going to work, I have to for insurance so I have no choice. Thanks for making me seem tenacious anyway. Speaking of work...Wyoming..aren't three day weekends nice? Sounds like you had a great day yesterday. Speaking of new vehicles...DH bought a brand new Toyota Tundra right before my diagnosis. Oh well, just another payment. Lets see some more funky hair colors!!!! Well, might go for a ride today. Should be cleaning house...cleaning service is sounding better and better! Later to all you gals! HunkyD
-
wyoming.. going to the maya riviera.... I was there about 12 years ago. Beautiful area on the gulf side. Been watching the weather there...been about 82 degrees. That sure beats the -20 we get here.
Liz and HunkyD Thanks for your well wishes.
Talking about house cleaning service. I did see somewhere that the cancer society is connected with cleaning companies that will come into the home. Will look for that again and let you know. I'll need it after getting back... not sure what my kids will do to the house while we are gone.
Enjoy the day
Karen

Karen we went to the Maya Riviera also. It was a all inclusive adult only. I love kids but sometimes it nice to get away from them. Drink a fun drink for me. If you find the info about cleaning service let us know. As I said earlier I hate to clean house. It is one of those necessary evils.
I'm going to the movie "Slumdog Millionaire" this afternoon. We usually don't get Oscar nominated movies before the awards so I'm taking advantage today.
I tried some capsain for my joints but it burned too much so I wil try something else less hot!!!! Had to wash it off after about 5-10 minutes. I usually don't react like that.
Have a good Sunday.

Hey Junies......Karen......Have a great time in Mexico.......you definately deserve it.......wish I were going with you........DH and I thought we would try and get away in April......but that was before my setbacks......so now it looks like we might be waiting till the Fall.
Wyoming.......I got my hair done at the salon.....there is a young gal there that loves doing funky stuff.....never know what her hair is gonna look like.......I watched Slum Dog last night at the hotel.......they had it there........great movie.........took the kids into the city for some swimming.....a movie and the Mandarin..........we ate a lot!
HunkyD.....enjoy your ride........the house work will still be there later.......unfortunately.....
Cheers to all for a good week!

Thanks fpr your well wishes Jax.
Wyoming... there is a website called cleaningforcancer.com. I really don't know how it works, so hopefully it can benefit some of us.
off to watch the oscars...
talk later,

Hey June Babes -
Last week was really busy for me and I'm beat this weekend. Lots of meetings at work - I like Hunky work for the feds. and can't give up that insurance package - it sure is good. Also took a trip to Seattle to pickup my medication - the investigational drug - Dasatinib. I feel good and I think I'm back to "normal" but not. Should have cleaned my house over the weekend and done some other chores ..... the advantage of living alone - if my house is a mess no one cares but me. Although I'm beginning to care......
Wyoming - I really liked "Slumdog Millionaire" - thought it was a really creative way to tell the story. Although I'm not sure it's going to much to enhance Indian tourism......
Karen - I'm jealous of the Mexico trip. Have been there many times myself - I miss Pablo the pool boy at happy hour - sure can't beat Mexico for a good Margarita - or lots of Margaritas!
Rover
.
-
I'm watching the Oscars but check here during a commercial. I like "Slumdog Millionaire" a lot. Rover I agree it may not do much for India's tourism. It is hard to imagine living in a place like in India's slums.
Karen thanks for the info I will look into it.
Jax, my niece is a hairdresser so I might ask her to do my hair.
Oscars are back on, take to you later.
Wyoming
-
I would love to meet Pablo the pool boy. Karen...you say hi for me if you find him and have one of those sinful drinks. Rover..glad you are feeling good. I must say...that's one hell of a drug run you went on...lol. Hope that stuff kicks some a$$. Going to keep this short...like my hair...later all. Did not watch Oscars last night. I am a social misfit these days. HunkyD
-
Rover, I hope you didn't take offense to my poor humor about the drug run. I actually read a little about the Da-satin? drug. I seriously hope it works and doesn't cause you any bad side effects. Sounds like you will be watching your white counts with it though. I read it is an oral med too so that is good. This stage 3 girl is praying for lots of new and successful drugs. I still have a terrible attitude and icky feeling about this sh!tty disease. Anyway...my prayers are with you through your trt. HunkyD
-
Hunky - I appreciate your warped sense of humor.... I've been leaving really tried lately not sure why - chemo, rain, lack of sleep - all of the above?? I actually cleaned my bathroom today and did some laundry. Although it was either do laundry or buy new underwear - I suppose I could go commando - naw, laundry it is! Hopefully, I'll get the zip back in my do da soon.
Rover

Hugs for everyone. I just realized when I looked at the date on my calendar, next Tuesday will be 10 months since I got my diagnosis. I knew this was going to be a long process, but I am tired of it. If not a treatment or Dr appointment, I am too pooped to do much of anything else.
Rover, I was told if you turn undies inside out you get an extra day's wear ...... lolol !!!! I too have a weird sense of humor and do not mean to offend. When at Target the other day, I got a package of 6 "white granny panties" to have on hand if the laundry gets out of hand. Going commando is not all that bad, depends on where you are going and for how long. Send some of that zip my way, Rover, I need it.
I have been in this apartment almost 3 years and the carpet needs to be shampooed. I will not do it myself, but getting ready for the carpet cleaners will be a major chore, once I make the appointment. Of course the places that aren't dirty are where I have things piled, so maybe just have them do the "traffic areas".
Once the days get longer, I know I feel a lot better. Light deprivation or a combo of it and cold weather - who knows. My laundry is caught up -- clean and folded, but not put away ... yet !!
Have a good one, Nancy
-
I think we all have a little warped sense of humor. It is one way to keep our minds off the BIG C. Plus it is fun and we need fun when ever we can get it. Laundry of done but will have to start again this weekend. As for going commando, I think not. I'm back to sleeping. Seems I can't get enough now.
March 8 will be my 10 month out from diagnoses. It has gone fast but then it has taken for ever. We all must be pretty close.
Have a good hump day.
