Ok my mom has been in hospital since last friday.  She got a procedure done they put a glue in her chest cavity area to control the fluid she has been getting in her chest cavity.  So since that day and her new chemo her bllod pressure was high and blood count was low the day before.  She is retainng water, and she is acting kinda loopy liek forgetting our conversations and getting confused.  They did a cat scan on brain today and willb e doing an ecko cardio gram.  What does all this mean why are they cat scanning her brain are the nurses reporting back to doctor about how she is acting. so maybe cancer going other places now?

    Big Dave:

I'm sorry to hear that you mom is in the hospital.  I'm not a doctor but my opinion is that the echo cardiogram is to check her heart function some chemo's are very hard on the heart.  Does she have a history of any heart problems this too could be a reason for the echo.   The CT of her brain is most likely to  to either rule out or confirm if it is cancer or to see if something else is going on. You may want to also check with her doctor to see if the medication is making her a little loopy.   Again this is just my opinion.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the CT scan comes back negative.

    Hugs

    Laura

Pleurodesis is what your mom had.  My mother had this done too. Check her chemotherapy medicine and possible side effects and see if that was the cause of the pleural effusions. My mother was on the chemotherapy Taxotere and she had a rare pulmonary toxicity from that chemo that caused the pleural effusions. Her blood pressure was very high, she had edema, the chemo was killing her.

She is probably loopy from the very strong pain medicine they are giving her. The procedure for pleurodesis is very painful. Make sure she is putting out urine and that they don't give her anything that might to put more stress on her kidneys.

I'm praying for you and your family.
