Let's all connect our Wii exercise program!

We just got the Wii and Wii Fit. We don't have the Fit connected yet.
However, I am seeing a vast theme with many of our sisters about doing a healthier lifestyle.
Do we want to start a "Wii love our lives, hate our current body" club?
I think it would be awesome. I love the Wii more and more.
Thoughts?

I have been trying to get a Wii since a few weeks before Christmas. All of the stores here are completely sold out and nobody seems to know when they will get more. Looks like I will have to order online. Please share how you like the Wii Fit program. That is the one I would love to get.
-
have to admit the WII Fit saved my sanity when the DR wouldn't let me "work out" except walking and my stretching exercises until the 8th week. I ordered mine direct from Nintendo and got it in about 2 weeks. Where it helps the most is not getting you back in shape (if you are a runner or high-level exerciser) but it helped my balance immensely. Given a bilateral mastectomy with muscle-sparing TRAM, the worst part to heal was the stomach muscles which affected my balance a lot. So, all the balance games on the board were big workouts for me, just shifting my weight from one foot to the other (and totally allowed by my doc!) Love to join a "Wii love our NEW bodies" workout club!

Oh gosh. We were at friend's for lunch and they have WII........we bowled and did the cow race. I just about peed my pants but found out I'm very good at racing cows. It's the first time I've ever played video games. What a blast.
Where does one purchase a racing cow?
-
Whoopsie, I just got my Wii. Woohoo! Only I didn't order the 'fit' part. I thought it all came together. Oh well. Now to figure out how to connect this. At least I can start bowling until I get the 'fit' stuff.
-
Oh my gosh you guys, I freakin' love the Wii and the Fit. It is truly the greatest invention ever. It keeps you totally accountable as it weighs you in before you get started. Your Mii on screen gets fit right alongside you. I LOVE it!!!!
PS-I'm actually sore from what it had me do.
-
Oh man. I can't wait to get the 'fit' program part. I still haven't had a chance to hook mine up yet. It may be this weekend before I can get it done.
-
Woohoo, I finally found a wii fit kit. The good news is that my balance is pretty darn good, the bad news is that I'm 3 fit years older than my actual age. But can I really complain considering all the chemo I've been through? I've already hoola hooped and was able to keep 3 of the hoops going for the timeframe. Then I scooted over and did some basic step. Okay, so I'm a little uncoordinated when it comes to dance. I love this program. I had to go to three stores to find it. These things are flying off the shelves as soon as they get them in. I got the last one early this morning at the third store I went too.
-
Sharon51, the cow racing is part of the Wii Play. It comes with a remote and about 10 mini-games including the cow racing.
The Wii is especially great during the winter when I can't get outdoors to get some exercise. It gives me motivation to at least get moving. My kids love it too and they don't really think about that fact that they are exercising. They're just having fun!
-
I have a Wii and Wii Fit and I keep telling hubby he needs to set it up in the back bedroom so I can use it. I'll keep checking this thread because I do want to do this. I don't know if I want anyone to see my Mii though.
-
Hi Wii Sisters!
We got one for my 11 y.o. and myself on Friday. We love it so far! Did some running and the ski balance part. I also did the Step exercise, which I'm terrible at!
One thing confused us, though. How do you change your goals on the Wii?
We both put we wanted to lose 2 pounds in 2 weeks, but did this last night, and my son did his and checked "Heavy clothes" while I said "light clothes." This morning it congratulated me on losing two pounds - one is always lighter in the morning LOL. It told him he'd lost two pounds and had to make it up to gain his pounds! He somehow set it for weight gain instead of losing.
Anybody know how to adjust his goals? I just went with the flow on mine and put in a new goal to lose two more pounds, hopefully real this time instead of just pretend.
We'll do it same time every day from now on.
-
Another question - do I have to use a board under the Wii Fit if it's in a room with carpet? I had a hysterectomy, oopherectomy and bunionectomy two weeks ago so have to wait until everything heals before I start using the Wii Fit. We got ours at WalMart so check there too for it.
-
I use mine on the carpet and it works just fine. You should have 4 of those round extensions to use if the carpet is thick to keep the bottom of the board from touching the carpet.
-
Just a quick post, I don't think there is any online option for the Fit after all!
There is an online Animal Crossing game, and that is why I assumed you could do it for the Fit, but I believe I am wrong.
PS-I had my surgeries 2.5 years ago.
-
So who else is horrible at dodging soccer balls? I do much better with the other balance games!
-
Hi, Jisman ~ I also suck at soccer balls! It is hilarious! Basically, I'm not an athletic person so I pretty much suck at everything! But the wiiFIT is so enjoyable I think I will improve!
Still looking for a way to change my goals - we messed up setting things up so I need a fix for that. The manual doesn't say how.
Okay, I checked the Nintendo forums, and evidently the best way to change goals is to wait two weeks, then it will let you revise. OR and I have not tried this, if you goofed on setting to gain instead of lose, have someone who weighs much less than you do the weight test. It will see you are really far from your goal and ask to revise. My son set his to gain 4 pounds by mistake. I started Friday night and then went again Saturday morning and it said congrats I lost two pounds. Of course it was just that we all weigh less in the morning. I reset my goal to lose 2 pounds in 2 weeks and altho my chart looks funky I think I'll just keep going and be sure to do it same time each day.

Okay, where are all you gals?
Anyway, I did my wii FIT this morning and it was FUN!!! I had so much fun. I went for nearly an hour. I did hula hoops, step routine, yoga and running. No strength training, I'm afraid because of my back arthritis, which really killed me for a couple years but has gotten much better. So I don't want to jinx it. Plus I am sore from a snow hike we took on Sunday all uphill. Walked for nearly an hour. So sore in a good way.
I deleted my original profile so started over again. My son had created miis for everyone he knows, all his relatives and friends, and of course there was a mii for me. I changed the hair and glasses though so the hair would be short to match my new short hair state.
Can't wait until tomorrow to do it again!
The only wrinkle is my rad onc says no losing weight until I am done with the rad tx. But I can go thru the "motions" and start a food diary. I found a great site over at myfitnesspal.com I am going to use along with the wii to get in shape. Calorie counter works very well and there's a place to put in your exercise as well as a forum.
-
PS - I did modify the running routine because when I jog, my neck hurts for two weeks afterwards. So I just pop up and down with my feet on the floor. I'd like to figure out how to do a fast walk, but the "bouncing" is almost as good. The wii thinks I am jogging, and my heart rate is up so I guess it is good. I just don't want to be jarring my joints.
-
Still doing the wii FIT, a full three days - well make that five, but I deleted my mii after two as I messed up the goals and wanted to start afresh.
I love it! I love it!
Today I did yoga, skiing, hula hoops, step, "bouncing" (what I do instead of jogging), and tried the tightrope (I fell off when the teeth chomping thing came along and I jumped).
I wish you gals would join me. I need to figure out how to do a message so I could let you know this is a happening forum here!
-
Turns out I'm really good with a hula hoop. Never would have known if you saw me with the real thing back in my youth!
-
Hi, Jisman!
I'm better at yoga - but I do like the hula hoop! Today I tried the boxing. It said I got the Island Run - but I don't see it.
I'm on myfitnesspal.com for my calorie diary. It is really good, and it's free.
-
So nu? Where are all the posts?????????????
Hee hee.
I may take a break from my wii today. Hmmm.
-
Hey ladies! I have a knee brace, and I am ready to jump back on the Wii! I'm excited, I have really missed it.
I was seeing results so quickly, but suddenly couldn't walk without terrible pain shooting up and down my leg! Yikes!
So, it's back to square one, but I don't mind. I just care about getting healthy!
Soooo good to see so much activity on this thread, btw!
-
Hi Girls,
I received the WI Fit for Christmas from my son. We are having fun with it too.
I like the balance and aerobics games. Not crazy about the yoga and strength training. Would rather do my own.
Unique - When you unlock a new game such as the Island run stop playing the game and go back to the basic run game. There should be blue - and + that you can point to that take you to the distance run of short, long or Island run.
Margo - I use my Wi board on the carpet with the leg extenders and I also have a mat that came with the Wi Fit bundle that I sometimes set the board on. Mat is good for the yoga, strength games too. Get that Wi hooked up girlfriend!
On my b-day the little Wi board person had on a party hat and wished me a Happy b-day then confetti showed up. I was impressed.
-
That is too cute! I need to get back to my wii again.
-
Once you have logged in 10 hrs on the Wii your bank turns into a golden piggy bank.....pretty sweet.
I have 161 points on the soccer dodge ball anyone beat that? Also unlocked the advanced dodge ball.....dang those panda balls and flying shoes are everywhere.
Wings
-
I haven't tried the dodgeball thing. I'll have to look for that today.
-
Hubby set up the Wii this past week and the podiatrist gave me the go-ahead to exercise but I need to wear my boot. Can I wear my boot with it or am I supposed to be barefoot? I've only seen the yoga so I don't know what all is included with mine. Is the dodgeball standard? I know it comes with the hula hoop because my granddaughter was using it the other day. How do I password it so no one knows my weight?
Annie, check out Sparkpeople.com - I use that one too.
Margaret
-
Hiya, Margaret!
I would think you can wear your boot! You don't actually have to do things they way they say, they just give you a low score. It will ask you if you want to hide things and lets you put in a password.
Margot ~ What leg extenders? It does have little feet on it, is that what you mean? However, it consistently thinks I'm 10 pounds lighter than I am. 155 instead of 165. Doesn't really matter, though, I can adjust it in my mind.
I am still having fun with it, started the penguin thing and actually got to Level 5 in the Balance Balls.
I do mostly Yoga, Balance and Aerobics. Stay away from Strength Training as I have arthritis and don't want to knock anything out.
-
Ok, I'll set everything up on Monday when everyone is out of the house. I'll try it with my boot and adjust it that way.
