Hi - As much as I would love to go to another party , looks like we will make the most of this one.
I am in Scottsdale 3 boys (5,8,9) I am taking a break from a 15 year career in business development for diagnostics (ironic)! I didn't have a lot of SE from Herceptin, I am in 9th month until recently and not sure if they are from Herceptin. Low white counts and racing heart. My Muga's have been fine.
See my other post if you have comments on blood counts.
Am so looking forward to May when I am done and get the port out. I am 43 and up until now have been a picture of health was really starting to feel better until the blood counts. Anxiety yes, Arimidex SE's yes but all better than having BC again

Hello ladies!!! I just realized that I only have two herceptin treatments left!!!! OMGosh!
I have decided that yes, I will take my Xanax 2 times a day, I need it lately but I am sure it is because my scans are all on Monday. MUGA, PET and Brain MRI. I was told to take two xanax's before the brain MRI. Kinda nervous because of the panic attack I had, sometimes thoughts creep into my head that I would rather just stay the hell away.
I am exhausted tonight, I took my oldest daughter and neice to concerts two nights in a row ~ at the rodeo here in San Antonio and still had to get up and work at 5 am. I certainly feel much older, but the joy, giggling and hugs sure were worth the lack of sleep. It was something that the girls will remember forever which is very important for me.
Laura ~ glad you are feeling better!!
Cristi ~ I love a COLD beer too! Ever since chemo, wine gives me reflux :-(
Karen ~ glad your MUGA came back good!
Tracey ~ what shows do you watch? I DVR all of mine during the week and try to watch them during the weekend. I like Law and Order SVU and the regular one, Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice.
-
Diana... I am so glad you are taking the xanax for now... it is so hard for us to do scans!
Please let us know how you do.. I have Herceptin Monday ..
Only 2 More Diana.. WOW... I know this sounds scary.. but GIRLFRIEND... it really is almost over for you... this whole year and a half. YOU DID IT!.. And you ARE going to stay NED FOREVER! You kicked cancers butt!

Angie,
I have now been pushed off for my first chemo for a total of three weeks because of my tumor having to be sent to "their" labfor testing for the BETH study. Did you have to wait so long? It's making me crazy. How are you doing with your chemo, etc. What am I getting myself into? Anything you can share would be helpful and I hope and pray that you are doing well. All of you ladies make me smile and I am proud and honored to have found all of you. God Bless all of you and wouldn't be incredible to meet one day in Vegas and really have a party bus?

Debbie,
I had to wait for a while to start my chemo because of surgery so the testing didn't delay my start date. But, I think they told me testing would take 3-4wks and it came back with 2 wks. I finished my 6 rounds of TCH and Avastin mid January. I'm not going to lie, I had a very hard time with chemo. But, if you read this board some women breeze through it. I had my first Herceptin/Avastin tx 2 1/2 weeks ago, I had no side effects at all. There are such good reports about what Avastin is doing for other cancers, that is why I choose to do it. There are some risks with it but there are risks with all of the chemo drugs. I also really like this study because it's not blind so they called me right away and told me I was on the recieving end of the Avastin. I know everybody says this but the treatment is doable, you'll get through it. There was a show back in Sept called Stand up for Cancer, there was a lady on it who was Her2 +. The cancer had spread to her organs (don't remember which ones), she was given few months to live. I don't know her exact tx but I know she was given Herceptin and Avastin and is cancer free 2.5 yrs later. Amazing.
Take care and keep us updated!

Ladies.. a very dear friend of mine is doing the " scans" that we all fear tomorrow. She is finally out of a VERY long 1 1/2 years of treatment... she is tough... but scared for tomorrow. These will be from brain mri to the rest of the body.. every part to see if the cancer is still gone... we all can imagine her fear... some of us have had it already.. some have not yet...
On my blog, I have written something for her... but then, as I re-read it.. I see that it is for us ALL!
Please check it out and leave a little comment for Daina.... she is the type of person who prays for all of us,.. not just herself...
I love you gals...
Her testing starts at 10am tomorrow...

Hello ladies
i'm too on hercepton for one year, i don't like the sides effects (chills, dizzy, achy bones), my doc says its not supose to get worse, but it is !!!!!
-
dblich-Actually what the oncs say is there are NO SE's. Yeah right!
-
Laura, I hope your friend's scans went well and she gets NED results. Hugs, Nancy
-
Her scans did go well Nancy, thank you! She is just at that scary waiting point...
Thanks for posting!

Hello all...just joined this forum today so it may take a while before i really get the hang of it.
I start TCH (plus Avastin) this Thursday. Going to get my port in tomorrow
.
I had to wait 3 extra weeks too Debbie b/c of signing up for the BETH study but at least i finally have a start date. The sooner I start...the sooner it's all over!!
Don't know if I'll be doing radiation yet.
Lisa

Lisa.. sorry you had to join.. but you found a good place here. Wonderful women here to help one another at this crazy time.
Have you had and surgery yet?
Laura
-
Hi ladies ~ the scans are over and done with. Xanax helped keep me calm most of the day, I came home and crashed for 2 hours, I am exhausted! I am now just waiting...waiting...waiting...
I have treatment on Thursday ~ and a question for all of you. Besides my hair not growing fast at all, does anyone get sores in their nose? Weird I know, but I get a sore everytime I have herceptin, then it goes away right before my next treatment.
Laura ~ you rock!! Thank you for all your prayers and having others pray for me!
-
Lisa-Welcome. I'm also on the Beth trail. I just finished the TCH and Avastin and am now just on Herceptin and Avastin. I'm excited to see others on this trail, for a while I was feeling like I was the only one.
Laura- I'm glad your friends scans went well.
Diana-My hair is growing slowly. It's frustrating. Will you get your results Thursday?
-
Diana, my hair is growing slower than others who finished chemo about the same time as I did -end of October. I did go out last week without a hat and most like my "new" hair. Before chemo mine was thick, naturally curly -this new hair is straight and thick and more gray than before. How fast it should grow back is the big question - but it IS growing back and on my legs and face also.
I dont know if you call it sores in my nose, but in the mornings my nose is crusty inside. I usually flush my nose with saline and that seems to loosen the "crusts"... every once in a while when I blow my nose there is a drop or 2 of blood... hope not TMI !!
The waiting game is one I hate to have to play.. someone call it scanxiety. Prayers continue for ((((( all ))))))). Nancy
-
I also finished chemo end of October and gave up my wig two weeks ago, even if the hair is still very short. At least it's thick and I used a sort of coloring shampoo to give it a little ("soul red") color. It looks a bit exotic now but the color seems to be appropriate for this... haircut
.
Mine was also growing with a lot of gray in it and it was too depressing.
Nancy, how funny, my hair was straight before chemo and now is growing curly! Also lots of hair on legs and even on some parts of my body where I think I had no hair before
.
I think I will go crazy with all the worries and anxiety, I have strange pains in strange places, also some coughing and of course I am thinking the worst. I had no scans since surgery and that was in May so I'm imagining all sorts of things going on inside. Next treatment is on Friday so maybe my doctor will recommend something.
Hugs to you all! I read your posts everyday, even if I don't manage to write much
