Tips to Reach Your Goals You CAN reach all your resolutions - guaranteed! Ariane de Bonvoisin is Founder and CEO of The First 30 Days, a media company that guides people through all kinds of changes, both personal and professional. She offers these no-fail tips for reaching your goals:
- Don't make any resolutions on January 1st, or in the first two weeks of the year. The first of the year is the worst time to set goals - because you're fighting the memory of failing at previous resolutions. Plus it's right after the holidays, so you're getting ready to go back to the grind at work. Instead, wait until you feel the time is right to make the change. Maybe February is better for you.
- Give yourself twice as much time to get there. De Bonvoisin says we overestimate how much we'll change in January, and when we can't do it, we give up. However, we underestimate how much we could change in three or six months! So, make your goal more important than how long it takes to get there, and you'll succeed.
- Focus on ONLY one or two goals at a time. If you have too many things you want to change in your life, nothing will change. When you narrow down the one or two things you want the most, your decisions and actions are much clearer. Your brain works better when it has less to focus on.
- Choose a word or theme for the year. The word could be "yes" if you want to be more open to doing new things, or "debt-free" if you want to get your finances in order. Think of this word as your mantra. A theme is similar, but doesn't have to be one word. It's an intention that touches all aspects of your life, like "put family first" or "enjoy being my age." Let this theme be the filter you use to approach your day.

Hi Friends, I love those dogs, Sharon I have a dog and cat, they are best friends when I am away. I am senting everyone a special energy hug. I hope you are getting in the picinc party mood. God bless all of you. Hugs Debbie

I hate to burst your bubble Coonie but that row of dogs, have Crocheted Hats (not knitted). No one noticed. Maybe because I can knit and crochet so would see the difference. I think the pooches are cuter than the hats. Love your pix.
I have to go see what I put in the bitch thread that Faithandfifty thought was so inciteful.

The way I see it is that we have a greater population of Stage 4s than the usual population OUT THERE. We stay to support each other. The sad thing is that for the ones that MOVED on to a higher realm without pain, there are new dx's to fill the spaces. We all know we will lose friends here (and we knew it would hurt) but we chose to stay in order to support others and receive the love and support when we do need it. And the problem is that we are looking into a crystal ball... and when I look I see my name being added to the Angel Wall by loving friends. And that is what counts here. So mourn... let out those "inappropriate" feelings (they too are real). And reach out your hand, cause Im waiting to grab hold of it.
-
Oh, Coonie - those pups are too cute!! I keep forgetting to come to this thread, and God knows how much it means to have a chuckle and forget about the damned cancer for a minute or two.
Thanks for the sweet picsSusan
