    Hi,

    I had my 1st chemo last week AC+Avastin and am now questioning the use of Avastin.  I was offered the "Beatrice" trial as I have early-stage disease but then chose an onc with another practice.  He told me that he could give me Avastin... or not... whichever I wanted. I chose to get it... I wanted to feel like I was doing EVERYTHING possible to prevent recurrance.  Now I'm not so sure. (FWIW~ He told me that it was "unproven" but is "well-tolerated".)  I'm pretty friggin' sick from the AC so it is difficult to say if the Avastin is making my symptoms worse.

    Do you think I could be doing more harm than good?  Ugggghhh...

    Michele,

    Sorry you feel so yucky!  But it probably not the Avastin. I've done Avastin on and off for three years.  Most people just get nose bleeds.  I did not have any side effects.  I do believe this drug has value.  But big think it will not hurt you and you can use again later if you have to. (they love putting this with other drugs for us with mets)  I think your feeling really ugly because of your "A" drug.  It will kick your butt every time.  I've done nine different chemo's and this was by far the worse ever.

    Good look to you that things will get better. Let your doctor know all the details you are having. "They should be able to address some of them.
