hi vicki G and kimbri
It looks like your dx at around 40 and so is me. I wonder if you have family history? I heard many people dx at young age usually have family history but I don't at all, so this puzzles me. Did you do a gene test? Cause I am thinking if I should.....
-
No family hx but my mom is adopted so medical hx is unknown on her side. I did the BRCA test but am negative.

I will be five years out from diagnoses on Dec 15, so far so good!! I also think they need to do more research on triple negative. My onc says there are different sbutypes of triple negative breast cancer, they are doing research to identify how they are different. He says some are more aggressive then others. I lost a friend last year who was diagnosed just before me with triple negative breast cancer, I miss her so much. It is a puzzle and I hope we get some answers soon!! I was 50 when diagnosed, my mom had breast cancer at 65 yrs., she didn't die of breast cancer. I am consdering the genetic testing, I meet with a counselor next week to discuss family history.
Hugs
Patty

I was 66 and was diagnosed 14 months ago. So far I am doing well (choose not to do chemo)

ddlatt,
Just wondering why you had double mastectomy. I am 56. Dx 11/9/08. Stage 1, Grade 3, triple neg. My tumor was also about 8mm. I just had surgery yesterday 12/8/08 - lumpectomy and sentinal node bx (0/2). Was it your preference to undergo double mastectomy?..
I thought I was going to be home free if my nodes were neg, but the more I read the more frightened I become about my future.

35 at dx 01/09

36 at dx 12/30/08.
I had a mastectomy and am waiting to start chemo. I meet with 2 oncologists next week to choose who I like better (1 can enroll me in the avastin study but the other has a better bedside manner). I have a family history but am BRAC-.

Hi,
I was 35 and pregnant when I found it. Diagnosis after hard fight to get "it" out was with 36. on January 9th I was finished 1 year (!!!) with chemo and radiation. Had taken the other breast also last year.
Just some BC with my 2nd cousin, so it does not look like family... had BRCA testing, negative :-).
Have CT in 1,5 weeks and I am getting nervous again.
Hi to Sweden!!!

I live in Switzerland. I got the carboplantin here, You need to speak to your onc. It seems like my onc is pretty open to new stuff.
-
I was 39 when diagnosed.
-
38 years old, surgeon not surprised it hit young and hard.
-
I was 47 at diagnosis
-
I was 38 and that was 19 years ago. I was a stage I, don't recall the other details. I had Cytoxin and two other drugs I don't recall.
I always thought triple negative was found in premenopausal women and that it was considered a more aggressive cancer. So the incident of so many older women here really surprises me.
