Ok my mom has IBC she has been through two types of Chemo. Doctor said yesterday the cancer hasn't responded to the two.  Mom complained about a rahs on breast a week ago she tried to tell sister and I it was a yeast infection.  Mom says she has been eating also.  Ok so we get to doctor yesterday her left arm was swollen i mean swollen that is her good arm that doesn't have lymphmemia.  Doctor sadi eh thought it was a blood clot or the tumor.  He admitted her to hospital for ultrasound.  Ok bare with me doctor looked at breat and he told my sister it was hard as a rcok and couldn't be move up when he tried.  Is this bad news?  He told my sister that privately of course thta that was no yeast infection it was cancer i guess her breast looked awful my sister said.  Ok he told her he can try another chemo but i htink was really saying that the two he tried hasnt responded at all that maybe she jsut wants to live her life without those drugs that are making her tired and not wanting to eat.  that is what i got out of it but he will continue to try if she wants.  Ok so her right lung has fluid in it they drained one big bottle and a hlf of another.  She has iBC but it spread to chest cavity but they never really called it lung cancer either.  This fluid is bad.  Ultrasound revealed a bllod clot rapped around her port so they started blood thinners and cumaden or smething.   I get a call and my sister said that her right lung collapsed and thta makes me nervous.  They were drainig all kinds of fluid out.  Is this rela serious for a cancer patient when a lung collapses?  Also sister told me that doctor said she was malnutriotioned to me that si bad she isnt eating right?  She is very older looking now and very skinny.  She said she jsut wants to get better.  The doctor and nurse told me and sister she will never be better.... Anyone have any insight? I guess im just looking for some answers as the cat scan showed it didnt go to live or other organs yet,  It seems they are fighting three r 4 other things and my mom is getting worse since it is so aggressive.

    Hey Dave,

I am so sorry that your dear mom is going through this. It sounds like your mom has mets to the pleural fluid that surrounds the lung. I don't know if that is considered a lung met or not. I hope that having the fluid drained will give her some relief so that she is able to eat and keep some food down. Did she have radiation treatment? Maybe it is time to get another opinion.

Please do let your mom know that she is in my thoughts and prayers.

    Lexi
