Breast hurts

Finished my Herceptin one year ago this month, prior to that I had 4 A/C, 6 Taxol and rads.  Last week I did my mammi and US, according to that everything looks fine (although I forgot to take my last ones with) so I'm worried they didn't have anything to compare it to.  I've become fanatic, read all my own results (blood, etc), to me it looks like there were changes on the mammi, but of course, I'm not a technician.

I have been having some pain lately in the same breast that I had the BC, so i'm wondering, if there is nothing there, is it normal to have pain?  I'm guessing that if the mammi and US didn't see anything (and if there was something there) it would be pretty small, would something that small cause pain?

I don't think it's unusal to have some residual pain, for a variety of reasons like healing (or damage) from rads.  I follow the two-week rule - if a symptom persists longer than 2 weeks, see the doc.   After almost 13 years, (aparently I can no longer add because lately I've been posting 14 years ..lol) I still have some pain and thickening of skin.  I've had it tested multiple times and results have all come back normal. I think it's probably rads damage cause they nuked the heck outta that side.  I had a second primary on the other side and it got nuked too but not as aggressively and I don't have any pain there.

I also get all my test results, but have learned over the years not to make myself nutz.  I freaked out when I saw my first mammo after tx, all the surgical staples were lit up and didn't look like staples - I had no idea they were there to begin with!  I thought my poor ta ta was polluted with tumors - pull me down from the ceiling please... Now I can laugh about it.

Being vigilant and your own advocate is a good thing, but keeping results in perspective can be difficult.  Also, having your tests done consistently at the same facility gives them a good database for reference.

I hope you have a long lifetime of dancing with everyone's favorite guy - NED.

    Cheers,

    Hey Blu,

I'm having trouble figuring out what is normal on my normal side.  I'm almost a year out and my normal breast just felt kinda blah.  The past few weeks its been like wobbly jello instead of a sagging blah. And there's more feeling in it.  Question:  How did you know you had a problem in your other breast?

                       Thanks,

                                Barby
