At my breast center, I got results the same day.  I did have a mammogram that day too, so maybe the radiologist had to look at both to compare.  10-14 days sounds ridiculous.  I work in a hospital and our films are read same day and reported.  Maybe breast mri's are not top priority, but 2-3 days would sound reasonable to me.

It shouldn't take 10 to 14 days not by any stretch of the imagination.  I would keep calling them every 2 days and bug the crap out of them until they give you an answer.  I got a call within 2 hours of my mammogram from the radiologist here at my home.  And many women here get the results within 2 to 3 days.  Just remember the squeaky hinge gets the oil Laughing

Ok, guess I was typing ahead of my brain.  I stated above that I got my results within 2 hours of my mammogram and what I meant was I got the results within 2 hours of my MRI.

What I did find odd was the radiologist called me direct and told me that she asked my breast surgeon if it was ok with him if she talked to me direct!  Now if the results went to the breast surgeon and he is one busy guy - I probably wouldn't have heard back from him for a week.  I got that great response time because the radiologist called me direct.

I had an MRI in Dec and asked how long it would be for results.  They told me they took over 1100 films and the radiologist had to read them and report to the onc who would call me.  I had a sympathetic tech and asked her if she would ask that I get them right away. The radiologist called 3 hrs later with my results which were good.

I am 47 and live in Northern Japan and had to travel to Hawaii for an MRI which was done on 1 Dec. I asked if there was anyway I could get the results that day and the girl said there were over 1000 films to look at so there was no way and that it would take about 2 weeks! I had to fly out the next morning and didn't find out until 31 Dec my results! They actually found a 6mm mass and recommended ultrasound and biopsy. Well, I am back in Japan and can't afford to go back to Hawaii for a biopsy.

The Oncologist from Hawaii called my office on 14 Jan 09 and left a message for me to call him ASAP that day! I was shaking so bad I had my husband call him for fear of bad news. Apparently, he wants the mass ultrasounded ASAP. Well, it is now 6 Feb (Japan time) and I still don't have my film back from Hawaii to schedule the Ultrasound here (that is all this hospital can do). Talk about being anxious!

I'm praying that your results are good Smile.

Good morning ladies. You wouldn't believe the symptoms and tests I've had since an onset of symptoms which have occurred over 6 months, not least of which...breast pain in left breast lasting 4 months now that is non-cyclical, huge dent above what was said to be cyst, and now discoloration and indentation under opposite breast. Several swollen nodes and tissue then said cyst started feeling a bit different (i.e., tissue under it swollen like mass. The lumps don't hurt, but that left side mass sure as hell does. I just need to know so I know what the heck is wrong with me and we can start doing something different. I've had a feeling for months now that what's going on is more than is what is being perceived. I'm now waiting on results of breast MRI which was performed with and without contrast yesterday. I do not fear cancer rather continued ignorance of medical professionals. Breast surgeon last week pushed MRI through. Surgeon said then that if all checks out, she'll see me in 6 months. I demanded that's not good enough. She agreed to perform several biopsies. My expectations are low at this point. I'm an educated woman (both through book and street), mother of 4, last child I had 16 months ago. I'm married and have a supportive husband who's mother was misdiagnosed, later found to have late stage breast cancer. She passed away. She was misdiagnosed by the same bone heads I'm seeing. I've pursued another medical team in Hershey, PA. We have to be proactive. I was told I'm too young . This terminology should taken of the medical dictionary. It brings anger from the darkest places I never knew existed. I am not naive. I will not simply walk away when I know something is not right. My "cyst" has changed quickly. I look forward to sharing results. I've followed you ladies who've been diagnosed for several months now. You are strong and I admire the survivors for the fight you have continued to battle.
