NO VA and DC area ladies
It seems like there are quite a few of us on this board. How about we set up a lunch some Saturday in the Tysons area. Anyone in?

Hi Sharon,
My name is Barbara and I live in the Northern Virginia area, I actually live in Warrenton, VA. Would love to get together with other fighters in our area.
-
Look for the thread, "Any Northern Virginia ladies on this discussion board?". There are a few people that get together to chat in person. The last one was in Tysons.
-
Count me in. I'd love to get together.
-
Hi, Capital Area BC sisters -- The link to the Northern VA thread didn't work for me, so I just wondered if you all had managed to get together.
I'm in Montgomery County, MD, and would be willing to travel the Beltway or go downtown (after the Inauguration!).
-
Count me in! I am in No VA; work in D.C.
-
Hi, LLB! If we can get one or two others to respond, we'd have a group. Maybe aim for a weekend lunch or brunch in early Feb? I could manage a weekday lunch downtown with some planning (I work on the Red Line in MD), or NoVA on the weekend.

I'm in! I live/work in Reston/Herndon.
-
Great! Just to pull a date out of the air, how about Sat., Feb. 7? Do either of you have a suggestion for where to meet in VA?
-
I live in Ashburn and would love to get together with other BC survivors. I am about 1/2 from Tyson's Corner which would work great for me but I will go wherever the group wants to go. February 7th sounds like a winner.

Tysons has free parking, which is one advantage. The Food Court upstairs by the movies has tons of tables -- and food I had a meet up there with 4 other ladies. Got a plastic shocking pink table cloth and we scribbled on it with magic markers, then left it.
Let's mark our calendars -- Feb 7 at the Food Court. what time is good? Noon?
Once the weather breaks, Old Town Alexandria is fun. The waterfront area has a food court. It is metro friendly, King Street stop, and a Free Shuttle bus to the waterfront or you can walk the 12 blocks and browse the stores. Parking is somewhat of a problem -- garages are expensive and very little on the street. I am surprised at the # of people who have never been to Old Town.
-
Sounds like a plan! Noon, Feb. 7, Tysons Corner Food Court.
I'm not that familiar with the mall, but from their map it looks like the 3rd level, between Parking Terraces C & E.
A trip to Old Town sounds like fun. It's been a few years since I've been there.
-
yes, max, 3rd level. Looks I will get to meet some new BC gals.
-
Nancy -- Should we say which restaurant we'll be near so at least we'll get close? I don't know what's there. I guess I'll wear my pink baseball cap so I can be spotted.
-
Just bumping the thread up and confirming that we're still planning to meet on Saturday, Feb. 7, at noon, at the Tyson's food court. Look for a pink tablecloth!
-
Okay, I found the link. I hope to see you all there on the 7th.
-
Checking in to make sure get together is still on for Saturday.
-
I'm planning to be there!
-
I plan on being there.
-
I think I've PM'd everyone about tomorrow's get-together (I might have PM'd one person twice -- sorry!), and I've heard from one person already - besides PinkyLee and me, so I think we have a gathering! Sorry I didn't think to do this a couple of days ago.
So tomorrow at noon at the Food Court. I'll be wearing a pink baseball cap with lots of pins on it.
-
I could not find this link until just now, but I posted cancellation on the NOVA thread. Sorry if this is too confusing for everyone.
Can I suggest making a totally NEW thread, different heading, like February meet up at Tyson's mall. Then maybe I can find it easier...
Nancy

I just don't understand why you would cancel on another thread a meeting that was first proposed by posters on this thread, even though I understand you have a group that has apparently met before.
It seems reasonable for people living in one area to be looking for one another under the Get Togethers forum. I'm sure the poster who started the thread didn't know the other one existed.
-
I am the one who set up the date and time for one meeting at Tysons and I assumed the same thread was the place to post another one.... I know I posted here about Feb 7, but it must have gotten lost in cyber space. My apologies for the confusion. I will officially resign as a meeting organizer.
-
I see that both threads had a posting for meeting Feb 7. If I can use the excuses of chemo brain, computer challenged, craft, crs, and psd... . OR the cyber gods were playing games !!!
-
I really want to thank Maxgirl for her efforts to get the NOVA ladies together. I was not able to make the Feb 7th mtg because of relatives who were in from out of town. So, I hope we can meet again soon.
-
Lefty -- Understood, and I can so relate!
At least I've finally learned my way around Tyson's. (As in, the sign off the Chain Bridge Road exit from the Beltway that points to the Tyson's Corner Center actually goes to the Galleria, but you can eventually get to TC1 by making a long circle around.)
bmdaley -- Thanks for the nod. If I had truly been organized, I would have contacted people by PM sooner. LOL Yes, let's try again!
-
If anyone is interested in the Avon Walk on May 2-3, you can google and volunteer. There is a training session Mar 7 in Falls Church. And Mar 14 in DC.
-
Just found this...sorry I didn't know about the meeting. Please count me in next time. I live in NoVA.
-
Anyone interested in meeting on a Saturday morning over in Old Town Alexandria? Stroll thru the Farmers Market, grab a coffee and hang out for a while?
-
I'm driving into Richmond VA tomorrow -- to present at a conference downtown. Will be there two nights and heading back to OH on Sat.
Is this home base for anyone here?? Would enjoy meeting for dinner Friday night............
-
Hi faith, I am busy Friday night, otherwise I would have tried to meet with you. Next time send me a PM and we will see what we can arrange. Richmond is an area I have not been to yet... I moved here a couple of years ago from Pittsburgh.
Drive safe and good luck with your presentation.
