ABC 10243

Options

I've done a search on the forums and didn't find reference this prosthesis, so I thought I'd ask.

I live near a small city that only has two providers.  One of them is inside one of the hospitals' durable medical equipment provider's building.  The other is a stand alone "boutique" place whose fitter worked at the other place until recently.  Point is--there's not much choice.

In order to try to take advantage of my paid up out of pocket, I went in early to get a form and bras but haven't worn them yet and can't wear them until 2/16.  I'm disenchanted with the puffy and post-surgical bra that rides up and causes an interesting and obvious lopsidedness and am anxious to try this new one.  But I'm wondering what others' experiences may have been with this version.

Anyone have the ABC 10243 Convex Lightweight Triangle form?  Anyone want to give a review?

Thanks in advance!

Lori

Kateful, Am I missing something?  I don't see which form you are referring to.

You will find an abundance of information on this site especiall with Erica.  Look for her references.

    • Oh!!!  The ABC!  Well, I have actually been in contact with one of their reps. I have learned that the people who started ABC used to have Amoena and sold it to a German Company.

I also learned from the ABC rep that the bra is actually more important than the form.  I am not familiar with that exact form, as I am still researching, myself.  However, my oncologist who is also a personal friend, told me to look for the absolute lightest forms, even if the fitter is encouraging a heavier one, as her experience shows her that most women are happiest with the lighter forms.  I think you will pretty much find that evidence on this site.

I tried a Trulife on and it didn't thrill me!  I am still looking.

    Lori,

Here's a link with a picture of the form you mention: http://www.americanbreastcare.com/10243.html. From what I read, it sounds like this particular form is helpful for women whose chests have a some concave appearance after surgery, so the convex shape of the form fills in for the loss.

You mention that you already have purchased a breast form and bras. I'm assuming the form is silicone. If so, this ABC form probably couldn't be worn comfortably any sooner than the form you've already bought.

This time immediately post-surgery is really tough. Hopefully, you'll continue to heal well and can soon wear a regular form and feel balanced.

    Hi  Lori-

I do not have experience with that particular form but I do have the ABC 1042 that I wear pretty regularly and really like it.  I also wear a contact form but I would not recommend that until at least a year out.

Anyway, my ABC 1042 fits exceptionally well in Anita bras.  Not sure if that helps or not but thought I would throw it out there.  I have tried lots and lots of bras and I have found that the ABC bras don't fit me nearly as well as the Anitas.  I am only a 34A/B so I don't know if that is the reason or not.  In the ABC bras my size seems to be 34A or 34AA so they do seem to run a little big.

As far as the weight issue goes-the form I have does have some weight to it but I only had a single mastectomy so it balances my remaining breast well.
