Does the 80% B-9 still apply?

I was first diagnosed 2 yrs ago at age 36. IDC/DCIS, had lumpectomy+rads, and Tamoxifen.  2 yrs later MRI shows 2 suspicious areas in my other breast.  Since my diagnosis, both my Mom and sister have had breast cancer.  I tested BRCA negative.

I am wondering if the chance of a benign biopsy still remains 80% in someone that is high risk.  Mri guided biopsy is scheduled for 2/17.   Anyone else been in this situation, if so, what was your outcome? I had a hard time deciding between lumpectomy and BM the first time.  Now I wish I had done the bilat.  My sister had BM last week and is being a great role model for me should I have to do the same.

Thanks,

Alli

I really dont have the answer to your question....but I would fathom to guess that the % might drop some being high risk...

You and I were dx'd right about the same time and have similarities.......My very first mammo after finishing treatment they spotted something in my "good" breast....I had another lumpectomy and the path came back at b-9 micro calcifications with atypia cells (or something like that)...the surgeon said the atypia is what was worrisome but that they got it all with clean margins so all the doctors felt it was completely gone.....

Anyway, I wanted you to know that there is a very real possiblity that this is just scar tissue or calcifications.

Im sorry your family has had so much to deal with....
