No I have not tried Resvinatrol.....
I will keep that in my list of research.....I dont want to make too many changes at once as I intend to stop changing things once I find something that works that isnt so chemically involved.
I believe that our bodies get use to one form of supplement as we use it for a period of time so am keeping a list of things to try if this doesnt continue to do its job.
Thank you for the suggestion!!!

Great news!!!!!!!
It is wonderful that CoQ10 is working so nicely for you. One more proof of how much more powerful natural remedies are. I am taking it, as well. And as I have said elsewhere, I have been feeling better than I did at 24, with my excellent diet and a number of great supplements.
-
ladies, just wanted to add what I have learned about CoQ10.
Dr. Carl Folkers used CoQ10 with other supplements for women who had residual breast cancer...studies in Denmark. and if you google "CoQ10 breast cancer" you will find his work cited over and over again. All of the women had no continued growth of bc...2 women upped their dose to 390mg and their residual tumor and mets disappeared.
I started taking 400mgCoQ10/garlic (Kyolic brand) after my lumpectomy, doctor said cancer went to the edges of the tumor and I needed re-excision....3 weeks after dosing with 400mg, the re-excison had virtually no cancer, except a 2.5mm low grade growth....my tumor was almost grade 3...so I have stayed on the coq10, though I decreased my dose to 200mg and like some of you I use the walmart brand...I believe it is the cheapest.
I reaped several other benefits;
my borderline BP is down to normal.
I am a migraine sufferer, now less migraines.
improved energy
some facts about Coq10: it oxygenates the mitochondria of the cell, cancer hates oxygen. known to help migraines, used in many studies.
I have struggled with anemia since diagnosis as well.....your hemoglobin carries your oxygen. while taking iron supplements i continued to take CoQ10, hgb rose to 13.1 in three months, though it has gradually declined since stopping the iron, I am still in normal range.
My younger sister was diagnosed with BC 9-10 yrs ago at age 32....she takes many supplements...has taken 100mg coq10 daily, still in remission...
on one thread I did read one lady had been taking CoQ10 prior to being diagnosed...so there are other things as well....the only thing with natural supplements or biodentical hormones is that of the reliability of the ingredients being what they say they are....finding a reputable brand....we just hope what the bottle says is really what is in there..many doctors will tell you they cannot recommend something that is not FDA regulated. and being a nurse I understand their thoughts...but we still can try other things...nothing is a guarantee anyway.
My Rad onc. approved it during rads, but I had read it may interfere with rads so I stopped it during that time.
-
This is just getting better and better and better and better.
amberyba, you have just made my day. And thank you for the great info.
-
Amber, it is so great to hear more good news about coq10. I started taking it when I was dx. Not sure why, just felt I needed to do something. I took it all through rads, along with omega 3. My radiologist was okay with this, she said just dont overdo it. I got through rads with very little side effects.
-
Im so happy that I have ladies like you all to kick these ideas around with....it makes it even more exciting to be able to tell you that I have seen differences.....and its exciting to hear what these things have done for all of you....I love to read of your experiences and research finds....
Ya know, I really think that by helping each other through we will survive bc with strong bodies and wonderful minds...
Thank you all....
I will keep you posted off and on about how it is going and I would love to hear how each of you are getting along as well.
Thank you
Jule

I have been taking it everyday since my diagnosis. Going on two years.
-
vivre,
What type of cancer do you have? have you only used alternatives or did you have surgery, radiation....? Just curious. You have done a lot of research on alternatives and that is impressive.

I had IDC stage one. Fortunately, I had a great surgeon who got it all. I had wide margins and clear nodes so I did not do chemo, but did go through 2 months of rads. It was during this time, when I had daily meltdowns because I was so afraid of radiation that I started to obsess about getting healthy and never having to go through all of it again. When I finished rads, I became fanatical about getting rid of the effects of rads. I started taking lots of supplements, did a liver and colon cleanse(had a colonoscopy) and I totally changed the way I eat. I atarting reading eveything I could find on good health. I feel so great now that I only wish I had known in my 40's what I do now in my50's. I just want to spread the word to as many women as I can that we need to take care of ourselves. My great grandmother always told me that if you don't have your health, you don't have anything. So I guess it took me a long time to heed her words, but at least it was not too late.

Ok its been one month exaclty that I started taking the CoQ10....
Since then I have stopped taking 1/2 of the blood pressure meds and my pressure is hanging right about 95-115 on the top and between 68-87 on the bottom....I have also lost 3 pounds!!! I dont think the CoQ10 had anything to do with the weight loss as Im trying to get rid of a few pounds by eating less...I eat healthy but the holidays got me this year!!!!
Im thinking that another month and I can say good bye to the rest of the blood pressure meds entirely.....YIPPPPPPPY!!!!

Way to go Jule! Losing just a couple of pounds a month is the way to go. I did it that way, just by eating healthier and exercising. Remember that is over 30 pounds in a year! And since it is all about healthy habits, not about a "diet" the weight will stay off. You are proof to me that I need to keep nagging my DH more about taking his coq10! I will get on his case again tonight! LOL

Thanks Vivre.
Im really happy that I discovered the CoQ10 and it is working well for me.
I had a major dental appt yesterday so figured my bp would be high last evening but nope it was right in there even an nervous as I get for these appts...
Yep, get on hubbies case about it and tell him to start swallowing that pill!!!!
Do you know anything about the doses of CoQ10?? Im taking just one pill per day as the bottle says but was wondering if it doesnt allow me to drop the other 1/2 of med if I can take a little more.
Thanks
Jule

Next time I get CoQ10, I'll be getting 100 mg capsules. I tried it for the first time last month and took 30 mg/day. I have the equipment at home for taking my bp. My bp is still too high. Fatigue continues. My onc told me a year ago to get my primary care physician to address my high bp. Well, I need a new physician and I don't want to take pharmacueticals to control my bp.
How long did it take for your bp to drop?
-
Althea, I take 200mg a day, my BP has been normal to borderline high since I started taking it. I wonder if there is a reputable brand we can trust to have the proper amt of ingredients in it. I worry about if the CoQ10 is authentic. I am taking the CVS brand right now, it was on sale this week: buy one get one for a penny...so I got the 200mg dose for somewhere in the 30$ for 2 bottles. I believe 100% that the Kyolic/CoQ10 is what it says it is...but it is so expensive.
Althea, the coq10 has helped my fatigue especially when I was taking the kyolic/coq10 100mg, I took 4 a day. right after my diagnosis....I wanted to get 400mg a day. I think ground flaxseed has helped to....I try to get one to 2 tbsp a day....I love it mixed with a small homemade chocolate shake.....It is my bedtime treat.
Jule, I have read that up to 400mg has been used for BC, with great results in quality of life....even some with residual BC experienced that their Cancer disappeared...so I increased my dose after I read this and I did notice that my BP went to normal and my headaches essentially were non existent....now that I have been on 200 mg a day since i finished radiation, I have noticed that my BP is botderline high around 140/85 and that I have more headaches...but taking 400mg became expensive, but if I don't see any improvement I may switch brands and up my dose.
What brand is every one using....?

I use Dr. Whitaker's brand (MD that has spend most of his career getting people "healthy" the natural way - or at lease the safest way).. It is expensive though as you said - good luck! Best
-
My first bottle was 30 mg capsules, vitamin shoppe basics brand. I've just recently begun to resort to supplements, so I don't know if I'm choosing brands wisely or not. There's a new Vitamin Shoppe where I live, and I like going there because I can do my shopping online and then get exactly what I've chosen from the store. I think I'll try 100 mg capsules next time.
-
Im taking Spring Valley brand from Walmart....they are two bottles for $22.00. I learned about this brand from someone on this site as well as doing my own research. I found that since I have a malobsorbtion issue as well the best for me to take is the gel caps that have the oil.
I think I might up the dose to 200 mg ea day....I use to take one pill in the morning and one pill in the evening for bp....since starting this I have been able to stop taking on of those doses but everytime I try to stop the other my lower bp number starts creeping up a little.
Let keep trying girls, there has to be something that really works without chemicals....

Ladies I bought the CVS brand, got to thinking maybe I could check to see if it is a good brand...found this article about CoQ10- and near the bottom of the article it list tested brands...CVS and spring valley are both on the list....though the testing occurred only on certain doses.
