Iodine complex

Options

Hi Ladies-

Is anyone taking this? What is the dosage?

I was talking with a nurse at the ob/gyn's and she said iodine complex is highly recommended for breast ca survivor's to prevent recurrance. She said it somehow converts estrone made by our body fat to the "safer" estriol. She didn't know the dose. I think there was something mentioned about iodine in one of Suzanne Sommer's books.

Any info appreciated.

Thanks

Julie

Many of us take Iodine in different forms.  See the research at breastcancerchoices.org.  They have some good research information about using Iodine.

Wow, you have a good ob/gyn. According to Dr. Jonathan Wright's research, iodine transforms estradiol in to estriol, the protective estrogen. In the Somers' book SEVERAL DOCTORS besides Wright recommended Iodoral, saying it was the best thing you could take to prevent recurrence.

Suzanne Somers' oncologist put her on Iodine.

anomdenet, did you do the iodine loading test prior to starting? is it ALWAYS recommended to do that first?

     thanks,

    Thanks,

I will check out breastcancerchoices. I would be interested to learn about the loading dose too if info is not on the "choices" site.

I am taking 50 mg of iodoral every day for about 5 weeks now.  It has been about a year now that I started my self guided learning curve on iodine and hypothyroidism.  Still trying to kick that fatigue to the curb, but at least now I feel like I know what the culprit is.

I did not do the iodine loading test first.  All I did was the do it yourself test at home where you swab a 2" circle of the liquid iodine you get at the drug store and observe how long it stays there.  My skin sucks it up like a dry sponge.  It's not a foolproof test, but it's enough of an indicator in my mind that I'm iodine deficient.  Plus, my temperature tends to be around 97.4.  Low body temperature is another sign of hypothyroidism.  Iodine may not be sufficient to correct this condition, but since I haven't found a doctor who will even bring him or herself up to date on what a normal TSH reading is, I'm going it on my own.  I'll sink money into various supplements from the vitamin store for a while.  It seems to be a better investment at the moment than a visit to a doctor.

Regarding the loading test, I started taking Iodoral months before taking the test. It doesn't matter about that because it takes a long time for the iodine to get "saturated" in your tissues.

The reason I took the test is Breast Cancer Choices has this project where they will reimburse you the cost. AND the arrangement includes a short phone consult with Dr. Jorge Flechas who is one of the most famous iodine doctors in the world. He tells you what the test means and how much to take. Talking to Dr. Flechas gave me confidence that I was doing the right thing. Here's the research project: www.breastcancerchoices.org/iproject

Anomdenet, if we checked the domain registry of the web site you keep spamming, and then we checked the whois for your email address, would there be any similarity between the 2?
