Uneven breasts

Hello everyone...

I've never seen this forum before regarding breast prostheses, so hopefully maybe someone can offer some advice.

 I was diagnosed with DCIS on the left side in 2002 and opted for a mastectomy.  At that time, I had reconstruction with a silicone implant.  In 2006 the cancer came back in the same side, this time in the lymph nodes...so I had more surgery, chemo and radiation.  During this time, I gained a considerable amount of weight.  So, my reconstructed breast is still a "perky B cup" and my other breast is at least a "C cup". 

I'm still trying to wear the "B cup" bras, but I look so lopsided...I'm just embarrassed and uncomfortable all the time.

Does anyone know if there are bras made for this problem, or maybe a "half prostheses"...I have no idea what's out there or where to even begin looking.

    Hi Marie,

    Yes, there are partial breast forms made for exactly your type of situation. You can wear them in a regular bra, if you don't mind silicone against your skin, or in a pocketed mastectomy bra. These days, there are many nice mastectomy bras to choose from.

    I would recommend going to a certified fitter at a shop that sells mastectomy products. The fitter would be able to suggest the size and shape that would best match your other breast. But you could also try ordering from an online site, which is likely to have a bigger selection than a local fitter. Near the very bottom is a form made by a new company Silique, which has a fabric back, so you could wear it comfortably against your skin in a regular bra. I've tried it and it's very comfortable (I considered using it as a AA cup breast form on my flat chest).
