Good evening Jewels,
I agree we need to decide where we should posts because something my get in FB but not here and important info might not be seen by all.
BTW I went to Hollywood Slots in Bangor Maine Sat. and had some one arm bandit practice and the cash went fast but had fun just the same time to start saving! I was thinking of LV the whole time!
I gotta check my FB and make sure to much info isn't in the public eye I am a little concerned about being on that site.

Sitting here this evening like a wet noodle ... had a fabo massage. I was having one of those days when my upper body felt like it had flu symptoms (achy). Some days are better than others, and my arms just felt heavy today. I'm planning on biting the bullet tonight and take some ibu's, and will continue to suck down the H20. At this rate I'll be up half the night tinkling, but hoping that tomorrow I'll have a better day.
Maz ... bigs hugs are being sent your way this evening that everything goes okay tomorrow with your biopsy. I know you are really not looking forward to the whole process yet again, so remember that we're in your corner and sending positive thoughts to you.
Kathy, time must be flying, seems like I just read a post which you mentioned having scheduled your MRI and wholla, its Feb. Remember to breath in/breath out ... and take your Xanax !!! I'm still trying to decide if I want to bag work Weds and take something to mellow myself out before getting my Zometa infusion. I've been trying really hard to try and build back up my sick leave, so looks like the BGP's will be stretched from coast to coast !!!
D1, okay with all the PF talk ... I had to add a couple tunes to my Pod yesterday. It's amazing all the music you kinda forget about until you pull up one artist on Itunes and then see the listings of what others also bought. I wiped out a $25 Itunes card right quick.
Okay, on to one of the other posts I still frequent here at BC.org.

Just a quick check in before work. Read all the posts, but no time to do shout outs.
I did change my screen name to SIS Kimberly and in Privacy Settings I changed who can see my profile. No one outside of FB. I will play with that more later.
The game was AWESOME. Even though the Cardinals lost, I was jumping up and down and talking to the TV screen as if they could hear me, and totally getting into it as if I were a fan from way back. Fun. Those darned 96 yard worth of penalities really cinched it. Oh well, the fact they made it to the big game was huge, and congrats to the Steelers for the history making 6th SuperBowl...it is a year for history making isn't it? Obama and the Steelers, and a Jewel meet and greet in July....the posibilities are endless.
Oh, the ps is going to take fat from my gut and contour the hollow spots where a lot was removed from upper chest area if it gets approved, and my surgeon agrees I'm post menopausal according to the numbers, but like Dr. Northrop said on Oprah, not everyone's numbers mean the same thing. I still have hot flashes, so not sure I'm really post yet. The numbers for my FSH went up from the 50's to the 70's and my Estradiol is 11. You want high FSH and low Estradiol to be considered post menopausal. I go back to the onc in March and to the surgeon in June. No scans or anything unless I have symptoms, so just a physical exam and blood work as my followup. Between my onc and my surgeon, I will be seen every three months by someone for 5 years.

Hey Kimberly -- unfortunately my hot flashes/night sweats lasted over two years after my hysterectomy -- my doc said that was pretty much the "norm." I still have them every once in a while, just not as frequent or as severe.
Hope all the Jewels have a great day!!
Julie
-
Kimberly, still getting the hot flashes every once in while myself but nothing at all like last summer. Havn't drenched the bed in months. Gotcha beat as we race into menopause ... Estradiol was less then 5, and FSH 107. Looks like your numbers are headed in the right direction!!!!
Back to studying for a test on hauling radioactive material... Its what you get working on a base with nuci subs !!! -
Hello Jewels,
Been a rough day. I want to go to vegas with all of you in July..Trying to work the time off thing with work. The darn hysterectomy..i have to use all my perosonal/vacation time before STD kicks in. I ask to prorate me 3 days from august( 1 month) i get 2 weeks then. they said no. I asked to take it with out pay and I haven't got a message back. Funny I could take all thart time with out pay during my chemo tx. I lost 4 weeks of pay last year and they won't give me 3 days...I want to go soooooooo bad. I am still going to bug them till i get an answer.

Happy Pink Floyd day it sounds like. My fave is Uncomforably Numb followed by Is there Anybody Out There?
Just grabbing lunch and seeing what you are up to.
I set up FB but haven't looked at today. Thanks for letting me be your friend.
SisKimberly- Is the ps visit to fix stuff from previous reconstruction? I am waiting for my referral to have some done and sounds like the same as you are doing. I had no reconstruction after double mastectomy so just asking. Much more was taken from my left side and so my chest just isn't as evened out as I had hoped.
As for the "flashes"....I had a hysterectomy in 1997 and still have them sometimes. More lately since chemo ended. They are not sure how is related. My thinking is if I am triple neg for homones, how can I possibly have hot flashes? Sometimes our bodies just do what they want I guess.
Well, I am going to go look at FB while I still have a few minutes left.
See you all soon!

Well, if our weather is any indication, Mother Nature is bipolar! We enjoyed a beautiful sunny Sunday with temps in the 70s and yesterday went down to the 30s. Now it is in the 20s and snowing again. School was dismissed early d/t snow squalls and we're supposed to get a good bit of accumulation tonight and tomorrow. We'll see....
About Facebook: I'm feeling pretty comfortable there now that I've made everything private. I am using my full name there, but have limited the info that one can find when doing a search to my name and a pic. They cannot send me a message unless I add them as a friend.
Have to admit, I'm paying a lot more attention to what I'm posting here since I've read up on this topic (thanks again, LJ, for the link). On FB, I have decided to be very selective with the applications that I add (all those pokes and stuff) and have removed most of the ones that I had allowed access to my account earlier.
If we're worried about stalkers and such, maybe it would be best to remove the references to our LV trip from this thread (as far as dates and hotels goes, not the general stuff). This forum is open to everyone, after all... our group on FB is much more private and anyone who doesn't do FB can be kept up-to-date via PM here or via email. I'm going to check my old posts after I finish posting this....
Maz- thinking of you today. Hope you're doing well and praying for good results!
Patty- congrats on a great Steeler win! What a game!!
I've been looking at some of the commercials again on hulu.com. I haven't decided on my fav. yet, but there were a lot of boring ones this year, IMO
D1- happy belated Bday to dh!
Sherry- hope you're feeling better. You seem to be "catching" a lot of bugs.... are you taking a multivitamin? Some extra Vit C might be in order!
Carol- did you sleep well last night? I'm way overdue for a good massage...
I hear you on the music-- I didn't have any PF on my iPod until I started reading all the posts here the last few days. I d/l the Wall... I loved DSOTM, but I've got some great memories linked to The Wall! My fav. PF: Young Lust and Run Like Hell.
Therese- oh yeah! Jethro Tull... there's another one to add to my iPod. Aqualung... Living in the Past, Cross Eyed Mary...
Kathy- the MRI is this week, huh? Hope the BGP arrive on time!
Julie- hope you are home safe and sound this afternoon. From the looks of things, you're getting more snow...
Tina- I'd forgotten about Vera... good song. LOL- maybe I like The Wall so much b/c I'm "off the wall" too! Hmm, I don't remember the baby commercial... back to hulu to check it out...
Wendy- happy birthday!!
Deb- another good song fr. PF. I love the guitar solo in that one. I'll catch you on FB.
Time to grab something to eat (homemade veggie soup and cornbread)...
Paula

interesting formatting... I was trying to bold the names and I didn't hit enter afterwards...

Hello All ...
FYI ... I went through my last months posts ... hoping that I appropriately deleted or edited any info that we'd prefer not to be shared ... good idea Paula !
-
OK, deleted one post and edited a few others...
Just finished looking at all the SB commercials. Gosh, there are so many that I didn't see on Sunday... my favs:
Pepsi Max- I'm Good
E*Trade- Talking Baby (I've seen that little fella in another cute one about cell phones)
Bridgestone- Taters
Pepsi- Refresh Anthem
Budweiser- Clydesdale Circus
-
So....how do we feel about just moving on over to FB and doing our discussions there from now on? Personally, I can't keep up with email, this site, and FB all at once.
Read all the posts, but I'm exhausted. Need to go do dinner.

Didn't anyone else get the 3D glasses and watch the 3D commercials?
The one with the athletes in white (what was the product? ... no idea) was incredible. I've never seen 3D like that on tv. Wow.
Chuck did a show in 3D this week too, which was also cool. I like that show.
-
LJ- didn't watch it in 3-D, but it was fun to watch w/o the glasses. I didn't even realize that was an option until the game was on.... Was that the NFL Swan Lake commercial? I think it was SoBe or one of those fad drinks. I liked the "Thriller" one with the lizards, too.
-
Tina: I gotta agree, the baby E*Trade commercial was one of my favs.
Carol: So do you have bug, or just feeling lousy from the massage? I don't know that I'm real eager to get another massage someday it if ends up making me feel crappy afterwards.
Maz: Hope the bx went well and you have some answers soon. Did ya need the BGP?
Kimberly: I have a small hollow spot on my upper chest too where the implant just does do it for filling in. Wonder is they could take part of my butt to contour?? Hahaha! All this menopause talk of the sx makes me not eager to go through it all someday. Hope the students are better behaved for you this week
Patty: Hope something works out for you to go to LV. I'm hoping I can get time off, too. I have to wait until it gets closer before I'll know for sure. Damn work, getting in the way of play!
Paula: LOL, ROFL about the bipolar Mother Nature! So true. I can't wait for spring! It was enough to make DE messy yesterday, but no school closings in my area (or today for that matter when we got some more snow), and I still had to work both jobs yesterday. Oh Poo! And I agree that we shouldn't be posting too much vaca stuff here. I'd rather get e-mails until I can get onto FB and set some controls there.
LJ: Where did you get the 3D glasses? I heard about the commercials but didn't have glasses, so I watched them (rather dully) in 2D.
OK, I caught up. Made it through the MRI this morning with one Xanax and the Jewels5 CD again. NO BGP needed-- I must be growing up. At least this year I had some boobs (albeit FAKE) to hang through the machine for the scan. Hahaha! DS is home sick after puking at preschool this morning, so all my plans for the day are pretty much shot. He's on the sofa, with a big pad around him and a bucket, sipping Gatorade. I hope I don't catch this illness, too. I've had enough! TTFN
-
Kathy, DP picked up a strip of 4 at Safeway.
Paula, I think you're right ... it was some sort of sports/energy drink.
-
Sitting here waiting my turn to get poked. Oh how I don't miss this place, although on the other hand can't thank them enough.
I was saddened to see a work acquaintance whom just retired last year sitting here as well, recently diagnosed with tongue cancer ... When will this craziness stop?
So Kathy sounds like he BGP don't even need to hit the wash here this morning ... U go gal !!! -
Good afternoon Jewels!!!
Still bugging the boss for my time off and he is blowing me off today!! What a dick..oops
Going to see a lymphadema dr tomorrow have had some bad pain and swelling in the arm, got a little worried and see him at 11:30am. D1 and I had some nice chats on FB about this and she has helped me..D1 is "superwomen"...LOL
Looks like I am going to Michigan for meeting this month and I e-mail Sherry and she lives about 20 miles from where i am staying so we are going to make a connection!!! I will call her tonight and we will chat.....Love that Jewel connection. I would still like to get some of the east coast jewels like WV, Pa. virgina. delaware maybe a picnic or dinner somewhere..anyone have thoughts on this?
Paula-hope you are holding up well....positive vibes your way.
Look how many of the Jewels like Pink Floyd....who would of thunk it?
I will make you all laugh. Since the bc crap, I got an XM in my truck and I have been listening to channel 73 seriously sinatra and channel 18- 24 hours elvis. Me ther headbanger actually likes this music..very calming. Also channe 150 raw comedy and 41 hair bands!!! I am so diversified...lol
But, music is important in my life. i can relate a song to something that has happened to me.. Now that Pink Floyd almost affects us all, I can relate that to you women,
Alright @ work....gotta fly.........
I will check FB when I get home.

Looks like I will also be editing my posts just to make sure. And I have to say, I am really liking the FB thing. Thanks Paula for the personal invite. I think FB will be much easier to use especially when I break down and spend the money on an I-pod Touch.
On the medical side...I have to have film studies done on my hips and right shoulder due to persistent pain. If all ok, can FINALLY get my port out. Am also having referral for some reconstruction. Didn't think I would want to do it but since so much was removed on the left side, I am lopsided and if I lay on my side I feel like my chest is caving in. I know, what a picture... Anyway, just a little on the top please!
Well, finishing lunch and want to check in on FB so see ya later!
-
OK, I must just be an idiot. I have no idea what I'm doing on FB. I signed up and found the group somehow, but I can't get in. I sent a few of you that I could find "friend invites". Bear with me.. I'll hopefully have some time to play with it more this weekend. I'm such a tech-retard!
-
Hi Jewels...everyone is doing so great getting onto FB! It can be a little overwhelming at first, and confusing too. Just make sure you have secured your information so that only "friends" , or those whom you've selected as friends, may view it. It's easy to do, go to the top right-hand corner and click on "Settings" and select "Privacy Settings". There, you can select the setting that'll lock things down, or, if you prefer, open things up. Be careful, the site defaults to allow all of your information to be viewed by anyone.
Kathy, so cool you didn't need the BGP today. Glad it went well for you.
Deb, it'll feel so good to get the "deportation" scheduled! The reconstruction is such a personal decision. It's good that you're going to talk to someone about it. You'd be surprised what a difference it could make.
Patty, bummer about the LE! I've started wearing my sleeve all day, every day now. And, am very religious about "clearing" and the massage. DH helps me with the shoulder and back, gently guiding the fluid down. I've noticed a real change. I think I may get an exercise video from JoAnn Rovig at the Northwest Lymphedema Center. I'm a little worried about air travel. I'm heading to Denver next weekend. We'll see how it goes. I may try to get a new sleeve/gauntlet for the trip.
Carol, it is so incredible, how much more aware we are of this disease. It's every where! I feel badly every time I go to the onco too...seeing all those people in the center.
Nighty nite all.

Well I am at work better go to doing somethig Boss is away this am :-)
Take Care
-
Kathy has just reminded me of one negative about Facebook... many worksites block access to it.
I do think it is easier, though. I have spent hours here reading through the posts and catching up on everyone. I can browse thru my FB friends and comment as I go. I really like that! And our Jewels group is growing (19 strong).
Maz- how ya doin' today? When do you get your biopsy results? Do you have a preliminary yet? Thinking of you and praying...
-
Hey there Paula
My mother gave me a great idea! She said instead of me having someone drive me to Pittsburgh to catch a plane (at least 1hr drive) . Then come back to Pitt. to pick me up. I should consider driving to Charleston and you and I fly out together to Vegas ! I told her I don't know if my car would hold up. Thinking the dual overhead cam is goung bad its 10 years old. She said she would let me drive her car !!
Sending prayers to you and Ed and family Your a very strong and wonderful lady.
Take Care back to work lunch bread is over
Carla
-
Carla- awesome! You could come down & spend the night if you want. I'm 30 min. south of Chas. There's an early flight that will get us there before noon. I was thinking of staying an extra day to go to the GC. Would that work for you?
-
Vera? Vera? What has become of you????? Good choice, Tina.
My head is spinning!!! Been driving out to the hinterlands (almost WV!!!) looking at tile samples. The farther west I drive, the more reasonable the pricing (but am I saving anything with all that driving-gas consumption???). Got through Senior Night-huge success. We only have the boys' basketball senior night to go on Monday, but I think I've done all I can do for that one. The girls' bball players were so cute-3 of them never start, so they were stoked. They were all so excited they couldn't play their way out of a paper sack. It was nice to see them so happy.
So, Carol, how'd the BGP thong work for ya? I thought about you yesterday. I hope it went well. Will the Zometa help with the achiness?
Julie, can you please post better news about the hot flashes? Geez. I hate to think of two years of this!
Hey, will they let someone who has been radiated work with radioactive material? Just a thought, Carol. Don't want you vaporizing, or anything.
Is There Anybody Out There? Oh yeah! The intro to that one (where it sounds kinda scary) gave my kids the creeps when they were young. Nice call, Deb.
This music talk is so funny! Dh took me to the Roger Waters concert 2 years ago, I guess. I was such a pig in shit that night (not sure if there's a jab at the pink pig in there, or not). I can't remember the last time I danced and sang that much. He did all the good stuff and a couple of new things that mostly poked fun at Geo Bush. That Roger Waters is such a lefty-he may be a communist!!!
OMG, Paula, the baby commercials are hysterical! (I think they're for E*Trade.) You must see them. Oh, and there's the post confirming that you did! Forgot about the Bridgestone commercial-I really laughed at that one, too.
I liked the 3D with the dancing athletes, too, LJ. Although you'd have to beat to the brink to get me to remember what they were advertising...
Good job on the MRI, KathyL! And stay away from ds-you don't need to be sick again!
What did the le person say, Patty? I dropped in to say hi to my legu after my MLD massage today and she was so excited to see me. She'd gotten a new machine that can detect lymphedema before the symptoms really present. This is a good thing as caught early, le is totally manageable. There are 4 stages in le (sound familiar?) and I was in the 2nd stage when I went in last Feb (has it been a year?). Well, today, she hooked me up to her machine and measured my swelling (this was right after I'd had my lymph drainage massage, so I was in a good way), and the machine registered a "0!" No swelling! This is good, but it means that the MLD I do with a human and in my machine are working, as is the wearing of all that compression shit. It did encourage me to keep wearing it, however...
That would be great to be deported, Deb. I hope your films come out okay. And hey, a little recon could go a long way to make your head happy about your body. I'm all for it. (I'm still pondering some work on my good boob to make it the same size as Frankenboob, but it's hard for me to justify, since most of the time my girls are in the big bra, which causes uniboob syndrome.)
KathyL-you are not a tech retard. I'm still groping around on fb, too. I even tried to get in from my blackberry today, but couldn't figure the damn thing out. Guess I'll wait till LV and have Carol show me how to use it!
How do you get your dh to help with MLD, Tina???? Mine can't be bothered. Ergo, the machine.
Maz? How'd it go?
So, you guys, I have to echo what I'm reading here. I seem to be heading to fb first, and the thread second (if at all) these days. But I don't want to lose anyone. I'll keep popping in here, but it may not be as often as I'd like. Just sayin'.

I had to pop in and thank you Jewels for the good wishes.Carol, I got the bracelet the day before my surgery Tuesday. I was so touched. It is perfect with the ribbons and jewels. Thank you so much.I made it through ok. I don't know how. I just got the path report and its cancer. Now my options are one breast or both removed. I'm leaning towards both. My insurance is limited. Even though I saw this coming, its still a blow. You gals are all moving on and I'm back to square one. I've been told no more radiation for me--apparently I've received my lifetime dose. I'm getting a second opinion from another oncologist in terms of treatment.I'm still numb from this news. My poor husband. And now I have to tell all my loved ones. When I don't want to think about it. Thanks to you all for being out there. I know you understand. I need that right now.Maz
