LJ--I really liked your eloquence in your post to Paula.  I think you expressed how many of us feel. Thank you.

Also, after a little GI episode this a.m., I was glad to read your take.  I'm going to try some experimenting myself.

I forgot to tell you all about my follow up visit with my gyn.  We were checking to see if I'd had any more vag bleeding (I hadn't--I'm convinced that was more about Tamox than a menstrual thing) and we were going to talk about the article LJ linked to me about anti-depressants and Tamox.  Well, he'd found all sorts of articles saying the same thing as LJ's, mostly fingering Paxil as the bad guy, not so much Wellbutrin, which is what I'm taking.  But I pointed out that Wellbutrin was mentioned enough for me to be concerned and if it was compromising the effectiveness of the Tamox, then I wanted off the Tamox so I could stop taking all these other pills to combat the Tamox se's.  My gyn believes, as does my onc, that Tamox does so much good, they're hesitant to take me off.  So we sent a fax to my onc, explaining all of this, to see what he thinks.  My gyn will call me when he hears back.  No news yet.  In the meantime, I'm taking both the Tamox and the Wellbutrin (which I am taking at 25% of a regular anti-depressant dose).  I can't go off the Wellbutrin because I'll become a raging bitch and I don't like that.  Apparently when I'm down, rather than going into a shell, I try to bring everyone around me down, too.  Nice.

Other than that, I seem to be spending more and more time on fb.  No wonder my kids never seem to get to their chores!

Oh, and I have a terrible sinking feeling that we missed some Jewel birthdays this week:

CHJ on Tuesday and Jenn on Wednesday.

    CHJ--HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Jenn--HOPE YOUR BDAY WAS THE BEST!!!!!

Happy Saturday Morning ... no golf here, its 25 degrees out ... balmy for some.

I'm off to the Walmart in a bit,  I took pictures of Zach yesterday and I'm going to get a couple of them blown up for Zach to give to his dad for his 50th birthday present tonight.

So GI issues are still on the front burner for some ... anybody else now taking some supplements that they had taken before that could add to the problem.   Personally I have started taking glucosamine, fish oil, calium w/D3 and magnesium about 2 months ago.  I love my little granny looking daily pill keeper!!   How can that not screw with the gut somewhat ???   BTW ... I really don't think its helping with the aches  .

LJ ... yeah, can we now raise a toast to having the Jewels officially done with their infusible treatments ????  I'm not counting Zometa as an "official" txt , but maintenance !

I would also like to thank you for your words to Paula and her family.  I can sit for an hour and not quite think of the appropriate words to write.

Paula , hopefully Ed's night was peaceful, and that you caught some winks yourself, without knocking yourself out completely.  I think you we're still up at 1:00am last night.

D1, I'd be guilty as charged with not getting too many chores done around here.   I thought that Zach was out of control with his MySpace thing ... now look at me ... I see how they enjoy it.  This would have never worked for me in the spring/summer ... too much to do outdoors, but I'm finding it to be a fun indoor activity.

Hoping that Jennifer and CHJ received their b-day wishes via FB.  I don't think Jennifer is logging in here.  Looks like we have a couple of b-days in the house next month as well !!!!!

Hoping that some of you are coming out of your deep freeze ... how many days til spring ????

    Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for the beautiful bracelet, Carol! That is so generous of you. In Vegas, I definitely want to buy you a drink and we can toast to our survival!

I apologize for not doing my homework. As a teacher I am embarassed. But I did do some inquiries among friends and family. As far as getting around, taxis seem the way to go. But that shuttle may work too. Vettegal is right about the heat in July. So a pool and spa facilities are a priority. I did visit Mandalay Bay and a few others. I liked MB a lot and don't mind walking - depending on heat factor of course.

I'm trying to keep up with the posts and just signed up for FB. I'm not sure how to find the group though. What do I do? I need help!

    Later,

    Joan

Joan, try searching within FB January Jewels -- Sisters in Survival, then it should ask to join the group.  I think that Julie (our administrator) will let you in.

Hi Jewels.  Been absent again, and wondering how to find us on FB?  That is Facebook, right?  I signed up, but can't find the JJ's.

Paula--my prayers are with you and Ed.

D1--I take wellbutrin and arimidex.  Have you seen anything on that combo?

My needle biopsies were cancelled because they couldn't accurately locate the suspect areas with the ultrasound.  So now I go straight to surgical biopsies, one in my breast and the other in that armpit.  Same side as before.  Then I have to sweat waiting for results.  And based on that what to do next.  I'm so nervous.  The biopsies are to be done Tuesday.  Same day as a snow storm is due here.  I'll check back in when I'm able.  God I hate surgery.  Take care, All.

Hi MAZ!!! Good to see you again -- I was just wondering about you last night and was going to PM you. You must have read my mind!

I'm sorry to hear your facing another biopsy - that just stinks. Hopefully the waiting won't be too long and you'll have some good results fast!

Yay! Another Jewel on FB!! To find the Jewels, just do a search for "January Jewels" and click on the link with our logo titled "January Jewels - Sisters in Survival." When you get to our page, there will be a link to "request to join" the group. I will be alerted that you've made the request and will accept you into the group.

If you have trouble, just PM me with your fb name and I can do a search for you and send you an invite. Or you can search for my name "Julie Freed Knutson" and add me as a friend, then I can send an invite.

Well, Jewels - I'm sitting at home right now waiting for someone to come "maybe" purchase the sectional we're selling. We spent an hour and a half this morning moving it from the basement up to the garage -- had to load it onto a trailer out the walk-out basement, then pull it with the 4-wheeler. When the 4-wheeler got stuck in the snow, dh had to bring out the BIG guns and pull both with the tractor. It was quite a chore as both the tractor and 4-wheeler continued to get stuck in the snow.

Dh is at a basketball game this afternoon and I'll be making a trip to Menards to pick up the wainscot we ordered a couple weeks ago. I'm hoping we may get the media room painted tonight -- that remains to be seen!

LJ - thanks for the GI info -- I had some last week that was not pleasant to deal with at school!! I'll be reading up on that for sure. And CONGRATS on being done with treatments!! Yipppeeee for you!!

Carol - hope you're keeping warm. There's definitely no golfing going on around here!! Still completely covered and it's chilly out! They say we're supposed to hit 40 this weekend, but I question that!

D1 - glad to hear your docs are working together on the Wellbutrin question. Hopefully they'll figure out what works best for you and you'll be comfortable with what's decided. I'm right there with you when it comes to making those around you as miserable as you are -- I was the same way when I went through menopause after my hysterectomy -- it was not pretty!! But we did survive it and it's MUCH better now.

Paula - I hope you and Ed were able to get some rest last night. Thinking of you always.

Okay, girls -- heading over to FB to see what's going on there.

Hope you all have a great Saturday!

    Good afternoon Jewels,
Homework turn in rate is getting better by the day. WhooHoo.  Thank you to all who have said such nice things about my dedication and reminding me that I am touching lives, they just won’t realize it for awhile.

So, Carol, may I just say what a fabulous surprise I got in the mail yesterday? Thank you so much, and thank you Norma for giving her the inspiration.

My appt. with my onc. was good.  He did laugh at my teasing about drawings and hugs, so I think I’ll keep him. He also did not hesitate to write the letter I need for my Cancer Policy to have the ooph covered as part of my treatment.

Deb, as far as the side effects of Taxotere, I still have until the end of May before I can state my se’s are permanent as it can take a full year to get all of the toxins out of your system. My onc did not poopoo my se’s, but did tell me to give my body a little more time. I’m good with that.

Carol, I am according to my blood work and my onc. in full post menopause, but there is a small chance my body could revert since I’m so young, yep, you heard me…so young…LOL, which is why he’s recommended the ooph…and because twinsis has now been diagnosed. Both he and Dr. Bobolis, Kath’s onc, really believe there has to be a genetic link. Kath is having the subset of tests done on the BRCA gene, so we should know in three weeks or so. Guess it takes time.

Paula- Wow, what a weather crazy winter. The Jelly Belly Factory is about an hour away from my house. Personally, I just can’t eat the sweet stuff anymore, but I know that things like that can become addicting…like the Lays commercials of days gone by, no one can eat just one. LOL

So, the parent with the ‘tude apologized, and another took his place, but my principal is totally backing me up on this one who wants to meet with me and my boss. My boss pulled up the girls report card and she’s failing all of her core subjects, so he’s calling all of those teachers in for a conference with this parent. I love my boss!  The interesting thing is this student is the grandkid of a former colleague and the other middle school I taught at before my school opened.

Of all the Jewels here, you certainly have a Free Pass to throw a pity party whenever you need to do so…who wants to have that conversation ever?  ((((HUGS))))

I’m glad that Ed has decided to at least give this until the next MRI and the discussion with the onc. Equally glad that Hospice can offer you all some grief counseling, even if you have to sneak off to do it. Ed isn’t in his usual mind as you know, so something he might have totally agreed with even months ago, isn’t going to be on the menu now. He too is having to really grasp his own mortality, and anger is part of the grieving process. Thinking of you all. sweetie.

    Therese-
Yes!!!! That is exactly what FB is like. Thank you for putting that into words. Stay warm.

I love the icicle collection in the freezer. Isn’t it wonderful to experience how kids see things? Yes, even the perspective of being 12 and ½ as being so much older than 12. HeeHee, that is so junior high.

I too am good with having my own room if that helps with the price in LV.

Jules- Hmmm, a chocolate cake in the oven eh?  Are we doing comfort food or sucking up to the family in order to get some honey-do’s done? LOL  That brown-noser comment from Paula was perfect after the chocolate cake in the oven reference…or am I just really stretching here? Probably. Don’t mind me, sometimes my attempt at humor just bursts into flames before even taking off.

Hope you had a quiet day off and that your hubby got home safely....must have as you just posted about the sectional saga.

D1- Yeah for getting that big project done. Wow, what a lot of work that must have been, and to have to chase kids down for photos and copy. Your mention of the one girl being verbally abused by her aunt is sad, and your question a good one. How does that happen? How is it that people think it is OK to treat each other with such disrespect?

I’ve gotten to 145 and bounce to 147 back and forth, but have been 145 mostly. WhooHoo, so I have lost 10 pounds and the onc’s assistant noticed. Did my onc?  Nope, he’s such a man. All of my female friends have commented.  My issue is that I’m still ‘flabby’. I’m working out or walking at least 4 times a week. I guess I need to pump it up.

I agree that we don’t need to rent a car. They do have public transportation and hotels often have shuttles to and from the airport. That could be a question to ask when finding out the group rate.

I agree about the importance of water. I try do drink more than I have in the past, but since I can’t go pee whenever I need to as a teacher, it’s not always easy.

I also agree that the idea of putting our trip details on FB, although tempting, is too public. Additionally, I think that I may rethink my decision to be on FB as D1 is right…it is so public, and my sis just told me, as she’s in HR, that people are Googling and finding people’s MySpace and Facebook profiles and reading their pages in order to make hiring decisions. I’m thinking my students could look me up, and that is just weird. And how long will it be before insurance companies or gov’t agencies start using that as a way to get information on people who may innocently say something that would trigger a red flag?
Am I being paranoid?  I don’t know, but what is written on a public forum. like this one, is out there for anyone and everyone to see, so it’s important to maintain privacy. Can our FB name not be our own?

Maybe a blog like page that requires one to be invited to join in order to read and comment?  I know you have to ask to join FB, but it seems that when you join someone’s, then you read everything other’s have said, too.  OH, Julie to the rescue. Problem resolved.

I hope you find some relief from the Tamox se’s. Sounds like you aren't alone here.

    CHJ –
Sounds like putting the details of our trip via email rather than on our header or FB is an option. We can start an email list like our address and birthday list. Then, the person who has information can send a mass email.  I’d be happy to collect via a PM since I have all the addresses. Some have not sent their b-days, so maybe add that along with phone numbers? I know that when I send my SP something, the delivery often asks for a phone number, and I just have to give them mine which doesn’t help when they’re trying to find someone’s house in another state I’ve never been.

    Happy Belated BDAY!!!!

Deb- I enjoy the slots as well, but I have a limit. Once it’s gone then I’m done.

Carla- HI. Who knows, they might be thrilled to be hosting the Jewels, and give us an even better deal, or throw in some other perk.  A front tooth fell out? And it was put back with no drugs? How did that happen? A cap or something?

    Wendy –
Yeah, another FBer added. Keep warm.  You must be on FB now as I believe you found me.

Patty – I’m so sorry that you’re having such a rough time. FUSE that Tamox!!!! ((((HUGS)))). Glad you had someone at work to give you a hug and support. Hopin’ the Super Bowl brighten’s your spirits.

I know LV is hot in July, but we’ve weathered a lot together as a group, what’s 110 degrees among friends? Just think of it as Lady Luck’s version of a hot flash.

I like shows like Ghost Whisperer, Leverage, the Mentalist, Elli Stone before the took it off the aire, Brothers and Sisters, NCIS, and when they were on Six Feet Under and Dead Like Me. I love all kinds of music except music that is so loud I can’t hear the lyrics nor the musical notes because the instruments sound like they’re screaming or the ‘singers’ actually are screaming. Not fond of RAP either.  Love the theater and dance. Wolves. Enjoy walking, hiking, and biking. Reading a variety of genres. Is that a good start?

Kathy – I understand that hesitation around FB, but with the Jewel site, that might help the dh feel more comfortable.

Speaking of comfortable, I hope yours and your ds’ throats are more comfortable from that Strep. Man, you can’t catch a break, can you?

Tina – So, it’s a done deal eh? How soon before escrow closes?

Thanks for reminding me, did I thank my SP for my note cards? I think I did, but my brain can’t remember?

LJ13, I think you are on to something as I have noticed that my symptoms are related to eating too much grain fiber, not veggie or fruit fiber. Mostly white breads, cracker, and the like when I’m eating out or at a friends house for example.

Whoo Hoo on the last Herceptin!!!!!

Kris- Yeah, another Jewel on FB.

Joan, no worries about not doing your HW. It looks like everyone is on board for Mandalay Bay, so the fact you checked out the site is awesome!!!

Awe Maz, that SUCKS.  We are all here for you sending lots of positive thoughts. Hate surgery? Can’t think of a single Jewel who wouldn’t second that! I think the BGP’s are available…Carol?

Man that was a lot to catch up with. Sorry for the novel.

Have a good Sat. I’m going to a concert tonight with the dh and a friend from school.

    SIS Kimberly

PS Kathleen, sorry rads is kicking your butt. As we are fond of saying here…FUSE F. U. side effects.  Hang in there.

PSS My twinsis Kathleen is starting rad the second week in February.

Another busy Saturday here. Laundry is still in progress and I just finished w/ my taxes! We'll end up getting a nice return from both fed and state, thanks in part to the medical expenses. This is the first year I've ever been able to claim medical bills-- we had $10,000 in out-of-pocket expenses... OUCH! I knew it was a lot... I got ds' FAFSA (financial aid form) and the kids' taxes filed today as well, so I'm rewarding myself with the rest of the day off!

Dh is doing okay. Feeling crummy, sleeping a lot, but n/v are controlled (thank you, Zofran!).

Kris- I didn't realize you had a son old enough to drive. LOL at his text message. Bet you were glad when he got home!

Sorry about your computer woes. Hope you get it "thawed out" soon!

D1- you are definitely the SE queen of the Jewels. I just hate that! You've got a real catch-22 with the tamox and antidepressants... hope you can get the right combo worked out so that you'll feel like yourself again... SOON! ((HUG))

Carol- you're sooo thoughtful! What a great gift for your ex to have a pic of Zach.

    Joan- see you on FB!

Maz- I'm bummed to see that you're going to have surgical biopsies this week. You're in my prayers! I'll be looking for you on FB-- I'm heading there next!

Julie- did you get the sectional sold? I loved your narrative about moving that sucker from the basement to the garage. What ingenuity!

Kimberly- love it that you have a good boss-- makes ALL the difference when there's a problem!

LOL at the brown nose + choc. cake! Didn't even catch that...

Off to tackle another load of laundry and check in at FB!

Well it's finally Super Bowl Sunday, but more importantly, in my house, it's also the dh's b-day!  I've gotten some gifts together, but I need to run out and get a card.  It's always sumthin.'

Carol, I read all the supplements you take with interest.  I did some research yesty on Biotin and Tamox to see if it would be okay for me to add Biotin.  I understand it can help with hair/nail growth and my hair is totally stalled with patchy thin areas.  I know that hair thinning is a Tamox se and since I seem to be an se magnet, I'm not surprised.  I'm just tired of this thin, lifeless hair.  (Can I have a little cheese with my whine?)  So I'm also going to have to find time to hit up a vitamin store in the near future.

LJ-WooooHoooo on being done with your infusions!  Do you get the port out, now?  (Thanks again for alerting me to the Tamox/Wellbutrin connection.)

So is your Zometa infusion this week, Carol?  I think Paula has suggested a thong for the BGP.  Certainly, it would be distracting to have all that fabric crammed up your butt...

Joan, I kinda laughed at the prospect of toasting our survival-I suspect there will be much imbibing with this group!

Good to hear from you, Maz!  I put Wellbutrin and Arimidex in my Google box and didn't come up with any of the negative articles I get when it's Tamox.  Not sure if LJ has other ideas?  I'm sorry you're having to go in for surgical biopsies.  I know my tolerance for such things is way low.  But it really is best to eliminate bad things, so you must (I hate it when people use logic with me, so you're welcome to turn off your computer in disgust about now!) grab the BGP (remember, they're now a thong!) and march on in with your head up.  We'll be here, awaiting your results.

I'm kinda laughing at the visual of you moving your sectional with all of that heavy equipment, Julie!  Isn't snow fun???  (There won't be any in LV...)  Hope you got your painting done.  We went out to look at tile for our bathroom project.  We're still waiting for the last estimate to come in, but we figured we'd get a jump start on making some of the selections.  I'm going to head to another store, farther out, this week and bring some samples home now that I know what dh likes.  I'm starting to get a little excited about this.  And I want to get the project cranked out as the next thing on the list is some landscaping before we have a graduation party here for dd-Spring is coming (I hope) so that project will be on the front burner sooner than I think!

Can I switch to your doctor, SISKimberly?  I'd love someone to tell me how young I am!  Sounds like the ooph is in your future, then.  GREAT news on the 10 pounds-that's a lot of work!  And I'm in your camp when it comes to gambling-I set myself a limit and when I lose it, I'm done.  LOL-Lady Luck's version of a hot flash!!!!!

Paula, you get a gold star for doing all that financial stuff.  WTG.  I've already done the filings for my company, but dh and I haven't started the personal stuff, yet.  Heck, April 15 is a ways off!

Patty, you're hurting my brain, but here's an attempt at your questions:

Favorite TV shows:  Entourage, Hell's Kitchen, pretty much any cooking show unless the host is a complete dolt, Grey's Anatomy, The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart, Saturday Night Live (when it's funny), (the story line on Californication is losing me-I'm a big fan of Karen).

Favorite bands:  Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, Crosby/Stills/Nash/Young (or any combination), 2pac, and I'm starting to really like Slightly Stoopid, particularly when they do instrumental numbers.

Favorite songs:  I have two:  Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd and Landslide by Fleetwood Mac.  I'm also replaying (Fork and Knife) by Brand New a lot lately.

That's really tough to boil down to a few!!!

    HAPPY SUPER BOWL SUNDAY JEWELS,

I'm at my mom's for the weekend, so not working and catching up on post. I'm going to watch the game today here. I still have not picked a team, I think I'm with Paula and Kimberly, going for the underdogs too. I'm thinking about joining you all for the trip. I'm saving up my money, and I think I might be able to swing it. I need to know exactly how much it will approx be. So I'll will stay in touch. I start Yoga on Wed, at my cancer center. I'm going to get back to getting off my weight. I was doing so well and then I backsided.

Norma  I forgot to also thank you for the bracelet too, I was in such a hurry to post and get back to work. I think it was a great idea and when all the Jewels come together they all can wear thier bracelets.

Thank you Carol, I have my pictures in protective plastic sheets and made a Jewel photo album.

Carol  Put me down for the LV trip, I'm going to try to swing it.

Carla  glad it was just a filling that came out. Glad you are better.

KathyL  I hope you and ds will be well soon, strep is awful.

Julie  Thanks for hooking me up with the Jewels in fb. Julie, I love my job, but my customer svc job can be frustrating, some times I also feel like crying, I can relate to Patty. I hope you have a awsome weekend Patty.

Paula  I just don't know what to say to you, except i'm so sorry about Ed being so sick. I will pray for miracle for you and Ed. You are a strong woman and if anyone can pull Ed through this ordeal it will be you. I know you already know this. Chemo can be so overwhelming, I remember after my first chemo treatment I kept telling my daughter I was not going back ever!  But dd was so insisting that I kept going for her. I know Ed will go for you. Love you both.  FUBC

LJ  Congrats on finishing your treatments (well done girl). Hooray!!!!!!! FUBC

I'm going back to finish up on my reading. This is my catch up day

Kathleen  Sorry you have to lose your other breast now too, I know you are a strong woman and will get thru this. I hope your rads treatments go well. Hang in there sweetie!!!! FUBC

I couldn't find my mom a real pretty bracelet like Carols sent us, so I bought my mom a bc necklace and she loves it.

Tina  I also have never been to LV and have never gambled, I have been thinking about going to gambel in Detroit, maybe to see if Lady Luck is with me. Start off with $50 and see what happens. I used to play bingo in Canada, I did that for years. I miss it, I'm taking about asking my sister to go with me. The jackpot is $1000, The most I have won is $350.00. It's worth the trip to go. Oh congrats on selling the house, it went quit. Yeah, now you can get planning on the move.

KathyL  Get those firewalls up gal, you should not have any problems with fb.

Heck there we're already two new posts!!! Thanks for the entertainment. Should be home by 9am. Thankfully no big SB party, just the fil and dh. Will probably end up with my laptop at my side.

Sorry Pitt fans, gotta go with the team from the west! Although not a huge fan of either team.

    Enjoy ... Carol

As for you inquiry (sp?) on Avastin as my luck would of course have it I was the small percentile spending an extra 1.5 hrs per infusion getting a big ol bag of sugar water so I can't help with any SE's sorry. Frown

Carol thank you so much for the bracelet it was a nice surprise and good idea Norma you made my day!

oops gotta go be back in a few ds and my granddogs are here!!

Kimberly, I really recommend you do not use a full name on FB unless you close your profile to everyone except those whom you approve. It would be too easy for a bad person to track you down with that much information. Paranoid? Maybe. But everyone here certainly will know who SIS Kimberly is, and there is absolutely no reason you need to give a full name.

Also on the fruit fiber issue, it could be that the pectin in fruit balances the fiber element. I think fruit peels are where pectin is concentrated (could be wrong there). Anyway, pectin, as you know, is binding (KaoPECTate got part of its name from pectin).

D1, I'm going to try to get that port out this month, but it's a busy month at work for me. The nurses reminded me that if I don't get it out within the next 6 weeks or so, I need to get the port flushed ... no biggie, but still. Getting the port removed I'll have to do pre-surg certification (bloodwork, EKG, chest xray) so that's additional time and I'm busy enough that I'm working evenings and weekends too, so it may not be until March for me.

I haven't seen any negative research on Wellbutrin/ADs and Arimidex. It may be very specific to Tamox, the interaction.

Landslide, yeah, great song. After DSOTM, what Pink Floyd CDs would you recommend (in order)?

My oh my, been to work and the grocery store and its only 11:30. At this rate I'll be lucky to be awake for the big game.

Maz, a big coast to coast shout out to you. Although you've been through the test and waiting game before, I'm sure that certainly does not make it any easier. I'll be thinking of you Tuesday, and will so hope for good results. The BGP's are on there way to NY.

Julie, okay, quite the visual of this furniture move ... especially now that we've seen the tractor in action on FB.

Kimberly, you go girl ... "so young, eh"? Yep that doc is a keeper ! It does sound like you docs are not just poo-poohing the fact that your family history of bc is growing.

Lady Luck's version of a Hot Flash ... good one gal!

Paula, heck of a way to get a return on your taxes. Kent had spent some time last week getting dd's FAFSA scared away. Unfortunately, we appear to be the set of parents (not her Mom and hubby) lacking in the funds department so get the joy of submitting what's needed. I'm hoping Kent got it all squared away, I tend to turn a blind eye on the situation as the cost for her to go to this private school rather irks me.

Glad to hear that Ed is not experiencing the n/v as he did the last go around.

D1, so is dd#1 home for dad's b-day. Sounds like party time at your house.

Again, thanks for the leg work on Vegas ... you are the go-to woman !

Joan, speaking of Vegas ... I will be more than happy to raise a glass with ya !

Sherry, added your name to the list ... updated on FB, hope it works out for you to join in the fun.

LJ, so even though you set your FB to private settings, can any tom, dick or harry still get into my site? I thought I had to allow them access. I realize that if you search my name, it comes up, but other than that I'm clueless I guess.

Patty, hmmmm, your inquisitive questions ...

Fav songs ... a couple of old rockers Freebird (Skynard) , Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin), Retro Pop ... Brick house (Commodores), September (EWF),

Fav rock old school .... AC/DC, Chicago, Elton, Heart, Pat Benatar, Santana, Styx, Ted Nugent, Van Halen

Slightly current ... Basia, Celine Dion, Diane Schuur, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Maroon 5, Norah Jones,

Tv ... local eve news, DWTS, Grey's, Private Practice, repeats of Two and Half Men, DVR'd junk ... The View and Ellen ... puts me to asleep almost every night !!!

Okay, posting this ,,, stupid me I left FB open and I'm getting yakked at

Patty - these answers are for inquiring minds who want to know...

Music - (past) Elton, Pat Benatar, John Mellencamp, Bob Seger, Tom Petty, Heart, Queen...some Pink Floyd, Yes, Jethro Tull...& on occasion - some Classical...

(present) Jason Mraz, Rascal Flatts, Nickelback, John Mayer,  Five for Fighting...

TV - as a family, I love watching American Idol - for just myself, I enjoy a couple of shows on Discovery Health: Dr. G - Medical Examiner & Mystery Diagnosis. My dd#1 & I love to watch What Not to Wear together.

Movies - I like action & suspense more than chic flicks, like: Mission Impossible, National Treasure, The Da Vinci Code. Love older comedies like Young Frankenstein, & Monty Python & the Holy Grail...

Books - I read a variety of genre's, but do not like romance novels.

I'll shout out later, since I'm still at workCool

LJ:  Congratulations on your last herceptin!  Flying without the safety net is truly strange, but good.

Your words to Paula were just perfect and eloquent.  Thanks for stating what I wish I could have put into words for her.

Patty:  Best of luck to your Steelers today.  Should be a good game.  To answer your questions...  favorite shows: all CSIs, ER, Survivor, Prison Break, Fringe, Extreme home Makeover.  favorite bands/music: dance music and pop/top 40 (think Rihanna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, etc)., also Carrie Underwood, Pink, Madonna, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake.  But I've been known to listen to classical, too.  And I also like some alternative stuff.

Paula: Sorry to hear dh is not real happy with the hospice counseling help.  I agree with Kimberly's thoughts on that subject and why he may be reacting the way he is.  I think it's really important to you to get that support and have that outlet for your emotions, so I hope he comes around and understands why you need to go talk to a counselor.

Kudos on doing your taxes already.  I got all my stuff together and dh is dropping it off to our accountant Tuesday.  One less argument and headache for us if she does them.

Kris: How are you doing now?  Are the drains gone?  I might have missed that in all the posts.  I would assume they are, but just can't remember.

CHJ and Jenn:  Happy belated birthdays!  BTW, D1 has one coming up I think.  Anyone else this month?

Maz:  Good luck Tuesday.  I have my breast MRI Wednesday, so I'll be sweating out the waiting game with you this week.  I think Carol's BGP are big enough for two now, even as a thong Laughing

Kimberly:  So nice that you have a supportive boss.  It's a shame that as a teacher you have to deal with such crap though.

Carol/Julie:  OK FB gurus, Kimberly's post makes me a bit nervous.  I can't afford to have people that I don't want looking me up there and reading.  How anonymous can it be?

GTG get started on dinner.  FB will have to wait until another day.  I'm still not sure I want to do it, but I do want to stay connected to everyone here somehow.

    Hi Jewels,

I went to the doc because my ear kept hurting, spent half my Super Bowl Sunday there. Found out I still have ear infection and  now pnemonia  in my right lung. I just hate set backs. I'm not calling off from work tomorrow. i'm only sheduled for 4 days this week. I think I will just keep my 4 days and not work anymore. Or If I can get weekend hours. Call off Monday and Tues. I will have to work it out. This is so sucky. Doctor told me to rest. Yeah I wish I could lol. Friday when I was working this girl asked one of the supervisors in chat how to say option 4 in spanish, It was so funny, he said the entire no# in spanish and put option Qurtro, (SP) I was laughing so hard. The supervisors get so mad that these employees can't remember option 4 is for a spanish rep. I knew the supervisor blew her mind lol

    Big shout out to Maz.

    May the best team win!!

    Take care, Sherry

Just checkin in to see what's up here during our "lunch break" -- we're working in the basement today. Still no painting.... grrrrrrrrr........ Cleaning out - and lots of it!!

To answer the FB inquiries -- once you create the account, make sure you go to "Settings" and choose "Privacy Settings" -- mark them as you choose. You can choose how much you want people to be able to see about you and can specify if you want your name to show up in searches, etc.... that's the great thing about FB - you're in control and you have many options. Just make sure you take the time and mark them as you want them to be -- don't leave everything open to "everyone" -- that's when you open yourself up for weirdos getting access to your info. Tongue out

Okay - back to more cleaning out -- I'm hoping we at least get to watch part of the Superbowl!!

Good info, LJ! That will certainly help those who are a little hesitant. Thanks!

BTW -- anyone who is not on FB, I saw something earlier tonight that might allow me to send invites to the "Jewels Group" to non-fb members via email. If you're interested, send me a PM with your email and we can try it.

Just watched half-time -- the Boss was great!!!

Just a few comments.  LJ, thanks for the info on fb security.  I'm looking at my options and trying to be prudent.  Can you hack in to me????

Patty--the Steelers rock!!!  That catch???  Totally deserved the win.  (And I'm an NFCer)

KathyL--how many people are we shoving in to the thong at once???  Is this the fat lady at the circus thong, or will it fit us????  LOL

Sherry--stop with all the distractions on the way to your health!  Make sure you're doing good things for yourself--don't be looking out for the other guy all the time.   (Such a Michigander...)

Okay LJ, Pink Floyd discography:  other than DSOTM, which is the best, imo (God, Great Gig in the Sky is amazing!!!), I like Wish You Were Here, The Wall, and A Momentary Lapse of Reason.  I think they were weird when they did Animals.  And for something that has the best of everything, check out The Delicate Sound of Thunder (you can't go wrong with that title).  The Wall was pretty commercial, but I'll admit that I liked it.  Heck, one of my fav songs of all time is Comfortably Numb--doesn't get more commercial than that.  It got me through chemo.  And the guitar riff at the end is awesome.  I've air guitared to that more than I'd like to admit. :)  So what's your favorite Pink Floyd????

Hi Jewels!  Still haven't had time to join fb, but it's on the to-do list.  I have a breast MRI Wednesday and if I'm not totally gorked from the Xanax, I'll ty then.  PM'ed Julie to get the "invite".  Just checking in quickly tonight as I have tons to do.  Work was really busy today.  DE is calling for more snow tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll be busy again, and then trying to drive home in the mess. Yuk!

Patty: Congratd to your Steelers!  It was a great game.

Carol: LOL!  About the BGP... I meant they'd been used so much that they are worn out and could fit multiple people now Laughing.  NO other inference at all my friend.  Hee Hee!

GTG.  dh is home.  It's been a day (stress at work with layoff, etc.), so he needs some TLC.

Fav Pink Floyd song...that was a tough one...probably Vera, off The Wall (ar ar).

Patty, fun chatting with you on FB.

What a game, girls!  What was your favorite commercial?  That baby on E*Trade makes me LMAO!!  Whatever ad agency thought those up - genius.  Man, if I'm in a sour mood, all I gotta do is watch a few of those and it's history.

    Wendy, Happy Birthday!!

    GTG and check FB.
