Pregnancy after breast cancer
Hi.... I've been pondering and I thought of joining this forum and see if I can get a feedback on a topic that I've been holding in for the past couple of days... I know that nobody else can understand and know how I exactly feel except for my sisters who've been through or still going through the ordeal of breast cancer treatment.... You see, I started my first chemo on my 27th birthday 8/31/05, immediately after I had my port placed. My whole therapy extended up to February 21, 2007 (Therapy included: Infusion of Taxol, Herceptin, Adriamycin, Cytoxan and 35 rounds of radiation, and bilateral radical mastectomy with axillary dissection - total in Left and partial in right.
Surprisingly, two months I had my last infusion, I got pregnant and miscarry two months later. I think I got so fertile after my therapies.... I had another miscarriage after the first instance....
Anyway, I hope you're not laughing at me but I am not a rabbit......I have a really good marriage .... I don't use any contraception except for the calendar method, but my ovulation has been really wacky...
I think I'm pregnant again!!!!! I haven't said anything to anyone but my husband and I desperately need to hear feedback from anyone who has any experience about this situation or know something that I don't know.... Thanks so much....

Hello...first of all congratulations... trully wish U the best in the world. The only thing I know about pregnancy after BC is through our sister magandmattsmom... i am going to ask her to PM U so U girls can talk... she has such a beautiful boy, and nice addition to her two other children... a real blessing and believe that there is life after breast cancer.
And being like a rabbit... there's nothing wrong about it... LOL...

Hi lanmae,
Congratulations... I am also pregnant (3 months). Your story sounds a little like mine. I was dx in july 2007 and had a port put in on my 34th birthday, Aug 15th. I had dd ACx4 Taxolx4 and 33 tx's rads. I finished in March of 08. I have no other kids and this is my first pregnancy. I am very nervous about miscarriage.
I don't know what else I have to add. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk more. Otherwise, congratulations and good luck. Maybe we'll hear more from others who've had successful pregnancies after BC.

paxton... congratulations... I hope that all w/ be just fine w/ both of you... your first one... how wonderful. Congrats.

I'm very thankful for all your responses and Paxton, congratulations!!!!! I pray that everything will work out for you.... I'm actually curious if the doctor mentioned to you the kinds of risks and things to watch out for????
... I'm very hesitant to talk about this situation with anyone except for my husband and plus I'm pretty private when it comes to these matters.... At one point I didn't want another baby since I have already two and it can get very risky... Anyhow, I'm not far along but my husband and I are very excited.... When I actually told him that I may be pregnant, he stated "Hell YES, we're keeping the baby!!!!!!
I guess, I just needed to know that it's ok to have a baby after breast cancer.....

Hi ladies! My after BC miracle is now 19 months old! We were completely shocked when it happened. I was dx in 2003 and got pg in 2006. The first thing my onc. said was "Congrats!!! and there is no reason to worry about your bc and this." I wasn't high risk (except that I was 36 but that had NOTHING to do with my bc history). I didn't go to a special high risk ob or anything. I was like any normal pg. He told me that this has NO bearing what-so-ever on my chances of bc coming back. OH I was er/- so after chemo and rads I didn't go on any hormone drugs - wouldn't do anything for me so I didn't have to worry about that during the pg.
My thoughts about having Samuel after bc - it was the most beautiful life affirming thing I could do. I was the biggest slap in bc's face I could find.
I gave me my life back - completely and fully. Not that I wouldn't have had it back without him but he made it even that much sweeter. I live now - really live for him and for my other two. And oddly I don't think about the chance of it coming back and maybe leaving him. I see him with my other two and I know he's well loved! And if it does come back it will be with no regrets!
If either of you want to chat just private message me on here and we can chat that way or any other way you need!
((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) to both of you and a huge congrats.

Jill... my daughter just said... "Uau... he is going to be cute!!!" Tell him to watch out for the Cougars... like someone named Jade... LOL
He is a cutie pie... I could just kiss and hug him forever!
paxton and lanmae: as you can see, there is life after BC... plenty of it and Jill is proof of it.
Please let us know how U are doing just like Jill did... it was so cool to follow her during her pregnancy w/ Samuel.
