Any Vitamin Brand

Options

Hello,

I have been looking into the supplements I am going to be adding. Well, with the brands I have seen on here... I just could not afford to get those for dh and I. For all I want for us it would be over 200 a month.. and we have one left to put through college starting next year... any extra needs to go there..:)

If I get the Nature Way it is about 80 a month for the two of us.

Anyone have a good  alternative to the high priced ones. I hate to sacrifice a better supplement... but I just might have to.

Thank you!

Do you have Vitamin Cottage by you?  Their prices on supplements are good and staff is knowledgable..I was just there this afternoon and they carry many different brands (and many are vegetarian)....some quite expensive and some reasonable...and the expensive ones are not always better.  Some one I know uses Life Expectancy online, but I  have not checked out the web site yet.

I use the "NOW" brand of vitamins.  I'm one of the managers of a medium size health food store and most of the staff uses these.  The company is devoted to making up-to-date, good quality, and affordable supplements.  They also have excellent literature about their products for customers.  I don't take that much...my favs are the D-3, curcumins, co-q-10 (100 mg), I3C, and ester C.....Good luck with your research and I hope this helps............

I buy almost all of mine through Vitacost.com. They have great prices. They also sell a lot of organic products.

Whatever vitamin you decide on, make sure it meets USP disintegration time standards...which means it will dissolve within 30 minutes.  If it doesn't, you are literally flushing your money down the toilet.  You would not believe how many of those one a day vitamins dont' dissolve!  Just drop one in a small glass of vinegar (which is closer to your stomach acid level than water) set the timer for 30 minutes and see what happens!

Also look for cold processed...as heat processing destroys the nutrients.

A great website for online ordering is swansonvitamins.com--they have everything you could want in their own product line--they also sell NOW and other national brands at great savings--up to 52% off in their last catalogue--Their customer service is great. I hooked up with them at the suggestion of someone on this board and I have been very pleased.

Dr. Constantine (the Edge--you can google him) has said that the trace amounts of soy in supplements are not a problem.
