I need info on ways to strengthen my immune system. I keep catching colds, and I am sick of getting sick. Any tips? Thanks Hanaki

Hanaki, the immune system is our best friend. It's always fighting for us.

I work with kids so I'm constantly exposed to germs. I haven't had the flu in five years, and only one cold. However last year I was dx with early stage breast cancer, and again this year. I don't believe I had breast cancer because of a weak immune system. It was there for a long time.

Other than surgery problems, I felt physically good through the ordeal.

I used to have cold sores. The doctor said it was a virus and to take lyzine. I thought if lyzine could prevent the cold sore virus why not other viruses. So, when I feel like I'm fighting something I take lots of lyzines, heavy dosaze. My family and I don't get sick anymore. Many of my friends also use lyzine and they don't get sick.

Lyzine basically boost your immune system.

I also believe that a positive attitude is beneficial to staying well. Find something good in everything. Look on the bright side of life. Exercise, and stay busy. Sing. Listen to upbeat music.  Write a story with a happy ending. Have lunch with a friend. Meet someone new.

Last, prayer...which should be the first thing we do when we feel ill. God can move mountains.

Exercise is vital to building a strong immune system.  I've been teaching my fitness classes right through chemo...and it really has helped.

Eating healthy and getting much needed rest!

Exercise, yes, I agree with that.  Fresh air if you can as well.  It's pretty cold up here and I don't get out as much as I should.  I take garlic and astragalus if I feel something coming on.  I used to take ColdFX and thought it was good, but it doesn't seem to help me anymore and since it is a form of ginseng it's probably not a good idea at this time.  But studies show that ColdFX actually does work.  Honey can help your throat if it's sore.  Just take a tsp and let it sit at the back of your throat.  Good luck to you
