Med Onc/Surgeon Northern Virginia/DC area

I was diagnosed with DCIS in 2005, then invasive ductal carcinoma in 2006.  Had lumpectomy and radiation both times.  I lived in Albuquerque at the time.  I moved to DC over a year ago and have not yet established new doctors.  I'm on tamoxifen and need to renew my prescription.  I was seeing a medical oncologist and breast surgeon every 6 months in Albuquerque.  Now I haven't had a mammogram/MRI, etc for over a year.  Any advice on finding good medical care here?

    I'm not sure where you live in Northern Virginia but Georgetown University is great.  My oncologist, Dr. Rajendra is pretty well known around the INOVA Loudoun area.  Most of us think he walks on water!  Good luck.

    I am in Alexandria also.  Georgetown University Hospital:   Dr. Engwong is my onco.   Dr. Cosilovo is my surgeon - both are female.

    Ditto on Georgetown...I also have Eng-Wong and Cocilovo as my doctors...they are awesome. Best wishes

    Just a quick note.  Georgetown University is terrible for parking.  Go Valet and save yourself a huge hassle.  Also, if you make an appointment with an oncologist there, find out which entrance you should take into the right parking lot - there are three!  Other than that, its a great place.

    Why not call your Internist and see who they recommend?

    Since you're out of active treatment it may not be worth the time/money to travel into Georgetown. My husband had a second opinion there and not only did he receive a large bill for the doctor but the facility sent him a bill as well.

    For a breast exam/Mammo referral and tamoxifen refill you could probably stay closer to home.
