BREAST CANCER SCAR RED AND SWOLLEN

I was diagnosed wih Breast Cancer 07/07 had the lymph removed in 8/07 and had radiation. I have been well but just a few days ago the scar became red, hot and swollen I am in Connecticut visiting my doctor so my daughter made an appointment for me at her practice and they prescribed an antibiotic and advised if the redness grew or it got worse i needed to haver an MRI to check for IBC. I am just beside myself I don't know what to think or do! Can it be something else that maybe irritated and infected my scar? If anyone has info please share. Everything I read on the internet is scary

    It could be and infection however I would call that doctor back and tell them your want an MRI done ASAP.  If the MRI comes back negative then request a biopsy of the area. 

    When I received the news that I had IBC my surgeon told me if I was going to look up any information on line that I should go to American cancer society, mayo clinic or any other reputable site. I did not find out about this site till after I was done with all my treatment.  I wish I wound have found this site when I was first dx.
