I have my first 3 month follow-up sceduled for early March. The last month I have had some pain in the breast where I didn't have the cancer. I asked my husband to feel the breast and he felt something unusual  I called the onc's office and they want to see me this week. I was happy about that because I need some peace of mind. I never had any pain with the other side where the tumor was found. Curious to know if anyone felt any pain?

Hi Judy,  I hate to say it and risk worrying you, but i had shooting type pains in the area of my tumor before I was dx.  I ignored it for a long time and thought I was just being paranoid.  Once I was diagnosed, it all made sence to me.  It could definately be nothing for you, but I'm glad your taking fast action.  Let us know.  Tina

Hi Judy - I felt a little "tug/twisting" in my breast about a month b/4 I was dx'd. It only lasted for about 5 seconds. Best wishes to you.

I had no pain.  My left boob hurt on and off...it was cancer free.

I had pain in the bad boob, sort of a soreness/pulling over the rib underneath, but that's b/c the tumor was growing into the pectoralis muscle. I've had assorted pains in the good boob, which seem to be nothing.

Glad you're getting checked out--odds are it's hormonal or treatment related or something. Keep us posted.

No pain. I was totally blown away being called back after mammo and the eventual Dx at stage 3. I had mammos for several years prior to Dx and never any problems or call backs. Getting checked out is always a good idea.

I didn't have any pain until I had the core needle biopsy on December 24th. Since then I can't really sleep on my stomach or I wake up with pain where the tumors are.

The pain kind of scares me because I didn't have any pain before the biopsy so I wonder what's going on in there now. I am glad I have my mastectomy scheduled for next Wednesday, 1/28.

    Hi,

I had sharp, shooting pains before I was diagnosed in the left boob.  Later on, I had pains in the right side.  They did core needle biopsies on both and the left side was positive for cancer and the right side was not.

Women should be aware that OB/GYN doctors might tell you that there is NO pain with breast cancer.  Well, that is WRONG!  I had sharp pains, especially at night.  I think that many doctors are not very aware of ILC.

    Good Luck to you.

My tumor, which I could feel as it was fairly high up on my chest above the main part of my breast, was sensitive to the touch - it felt like a cyst. But it wasn't particularly painful if I wasn't poking at it or if the seat belt wasn't on it.

MaryEV - having a biopsy messes with your nerves. They basically poked around in your breast and took small pieces of living tissue. So this is why you're having some pain - the area is annoyed and also trying to heal. I doubt that it's a sign of something new and ominous. Just post-biopsy discomfort.

Also, Judy - I have had weird sensations in my breasts that I have attributed to hormonal changes - I went off BCP's after years and years when I got my diagnosis, and now I'm taking Tamoxifen. I'm glad you're getting it checked out, and hopefully, it's nothing new.

Hi everyone...Just got back from my oncs....good news...just a problem with a gland..he feels it may be caused by the arimidex...we talked a lot...I have a 3 month check up in March...we will discuss at that time removal of the breast....he said it won't affect my survival...doesn't it just bring you down every time they use those words...but he said if mentally you will feel better we will do it....from all I read I am leaning towards removal...I just don't want to hear the words...your other breast has cancer...

Not pain but I did have a tingling sensation in that breast periodically for months, perhaps even years prior to diagnosis.  Never gave it any thought. Always heard that breast cancer does not cause pain.

I found my Stage 3 ILC cancer because my breast was sore in that area and my underarm was tender(5 nodes +for ca).  The breast tissue was slightly more firm and just did not feel right.  Unfortunately that is the nature of lobular and it is very insiduous and hard to find early as it tends to not show on most imaging until fairly advanced, just like mine.  My negative regular mammogam was just done 2/15/10 and I found this advanced cancer myself 2 mths later. WTH!!!!! gin2ca
