DH
Girls,
My DH and I will be going down to the NIH this Friday. He is a 5.5 yr brain cancer survivor, and he's been on Avastin since 2006. They think they saw a change on his last two MRIs, so he will get an MRI and a PET scan to figure out what's going on. They are also concerned that his kidneys are showing a lot of strain. He's been right at the limit of what is acceptable for the trial he is in. So we have the big issue of whether the cancer has returned, and a secondary issue of what to do about his kidney function and the possibility of other drugs.
I'd appreciate it if you could keep him/us in your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks
Bobbie

I'm so sorry this is happening to your family. Good thoughts are headed your way!

Girls,
Well, it is what it is. DH has had a progression, and will be taken off Avastin. The good news is that they have a plan. They will start him on Sutent in a few weeks, and that will hopefully work for him. Thanks for all your support. Keep us in your prayers. I pray for all my BC sisters.

You have my prayers - I wish we could do more than that. I am so sick and tired of this #$^&ing disease. It seems to be all around us. Where is the CURE?
-
That's a good question, everyminute! I get so disgusted sometimes when friends start talking about these relay for lifes and all the money they raise. Where's it going? Sorry for my mini-rant.
Bobbie
-
Rant all you want - Im right here with you. Sometimes I try to envision a time when people will say...oh, that was when cancer was a serious disease (like we say about polio now). I pray it comes soon.
-
Bobbie,
I'm so sorry DH has progressed. It sounds like they have a good plan in place. I will pray for you both.
Big hugs,
Bugs

Shjoot, sorry your DH has progressed. I do hope that the stutent will work wonders for him.
-
So sorry to hear about your DH, but thankfully there seems to be an arsenal of treatments. This may very well be the one that does the job!
-
So sorry to hear about DH, but a plan is good and they caught it soon enough, right?
Sometimes I think all the walks and relays are for family and friends to 'do something'. Personally, I hate them.
-
Funny you say that, Fitz. I'm not a big fan of them, either. Thanks for all the support girls. As usual, you rock.
-
that would be a nightmare.. to have both spousal members having cancer.
prayers for you both.
-
Bobbie, you and your dh certainly have a lot to deal with. I am wishing hard and praying for good results for your dh and you. Hang in there and remember that you guys are not alone--we are all with you! Good luck!!

Hey Bobbie,
Doggone it, I am sorry that there is progression. However, good news is there is a plan in place. I am saying a prayer right now that this tx will knock this cancer on its butt and he will be feeling well for a long time to come.
Hugs and Prayers,
Lexi

((((Bobbie)))). I'm so sorry your DH has had progression. I am praying that the Sutent will kick the crap out of that cancer. Please let us know how you two are doing.
-
Bobbie, just thinking about you and your hubby and wondering how the doctor appt and scans went at NIH. How are you both doing? Please let us know. I am still praying for both of you.

Celia,
Thanks so much for all your prayers and kindness. It stinks. He's had progression, but the good news is they have something else for him to try. He'll start Sutent in a couple of weeks, and we're hoping that will really help him for a long time.
I'll keep you all posted.

Bobby,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your DH. I'm so sorry about his progression, but it is such good news that there is a new treatment plan that will, hopefully, help him for years and years. Take care. -bonnie

UGH, girls. More progression since the last scan, and they don't have any clinical trials at the NIH for him right now, so he's going to be going to our oncologist for now for low-dose Temodar. He is also getting a kidney biopsy next Friday. I'll take all the prayers we can get!
-
Bobbie -
it WILL be ok. it WILL be ok. it WILL be ok.
Let us take your worry for awhile - you just breathe and repeat...it WILL be ok.
Hugs
