I am in Cape Coral, pretty far south so I wont be able to join you but have fun and I am sending you all major hugs!!
-
Does anyone mind if my mother comes with me? She lives right down the road and really wants to come. She is even trying to change an appt she had just to make it. She has not had breast cancer, but has stood beside me every step of the way. I can't hurt her feelings and tell her no. I hope it's not a problem for anyone.
-
I personally think that it's awesome that she wants to come!! I asked for a table for 8 -- hoping CatFL can join us, but even if she comes, I'm sure we can add another chair..... or 2 or 3 more, if anyone else out there wants to get in on the fun.
The more the merrier is always the motto that's worked for me!!
Can't wait.

Auriga - I'd love it if your mom came with you - I envy you still having her to turn to.
Debbie - you are doing an awesome job at putting this all together. Thanks so much!!
Hugs,
Karen

Thanks ladies for being so understanding about my mom. Unfortunately, she was unable to change her appt today. I was really looking forward to meeting all of you, and she really wants to come, so we won't make it there until around 11:30. I don't know what else to do as she is looking forward to it as well. If you could just please save two seats for us I would appreciate it. You women are great.

I am so jealous.........
Have a great time ladies!!!

It just dawned on me that we have a guest room in our new little house!! (DUH) and it has a bed and brand new silk HOT PINK sheets -- found those at the outlet place over the weekend.
If there's anyone who would want to come, but doesn't want to drive both directions in one day -- you're certainly welcome to christen the newly laundered sheets and spend the night here..... I'll even get my DH to cook a nice dinner for us.
Anyhow, the invitation is very late-in-the-game (kinda my mode of operation for all things) but TRULY sincere. We are on the south side of Ocala, at the first exit south of town. So it would be very convenient for anyone headed home in the south. We also have a couch -- if there's a second somebody out there. OH and LOTS of floor space, if we have any old campers. We could have a slumber party!!
Really excited now.

OK, add CatFromFL to the group.
Faith, Cat will pick me up AND get me to my rad appt at 1:50 so no one will have to rush to leave when I do. Thanks for putting this together and making a reservation to accomodate the "chair". Ugh, I hate that thing!! See everyone tomorrow, suppose to warm up and be in the 70's by then!

Hello my name is Bonita and I am a lobular breast cancer survivor who lives on Merritt Island, FL. WE have a monthly support group meeting at alternative houses in the Merritt Island, Cocoa Beach area. Please give me your email address and I can give you her phone number. You can check out my website http://www.abonitascarf.com/ and contact me through that or repond to this email. We also have a montly lunch get together. Below is a poem I just wrote!
Bonita
CANCER
Oh my what is this lump I feel?
It can't be there
It can't be real!
I had my mammogram last year,
This can't be cancer
The thing I fear!
After being mashed, squished, poked and prodded
I asked my Dr.
And he just nodded
But I exercise, eat healthy, and don't smoke
This can't be real
It must be a joke!
All these thoughts went through my head
Will I live or will I be dead?
I am still young, only 47
Will I die and go to heaven?
I looked at my Dr. with a tear in my eye
I told him to fix me
I am not ready to die!
He looked at me with compassion and assurance
And all I could think is
I am glad I have insurance!
4 Months of chemo
6 Weeks of radiation
5 years of Tamoxifen
Would be my cure
It would clean my body
And make me pure
I swallowed hard and held my breath
I prayed these treatments would save me from death
Five years have passed
And I am happy to say
I am alive and healthy
To this day!

Looks like my Mom and me will be on time after all. Thank goodness.

My son will be popping by to say hello too. He is in Gainesville at college right now, and since Mom is going to be in Ocala, he figured he would pop by to see me (He probably needs money again)
Hope that is ok with everyone. I can assure you - he won't be hanging around long LOL.
Elaine
