Merriest Christmas to all!  And, any other holiday that we celebrate at this time!

My precious two-year old grandbaby just celebrated a very "Thomas" Christmas with me and it was the best!!  Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to be here.

I'm with you, Mzmiller.  Buh Bye 2008.

My son, who is now 10, LOVED Thomas as a young child.  I'm glad your grandbaby loves him too and you get to watch him/her celebrate Christmas.  Now that's a great way to close out such a crappy year!

Just had to report that BCBS just denied my Oncotype DX charge!  Let's see...that was back on September???

Genomic Health said back then that I would qualify for their full coverage, but I thought by now everything must have gone through!

    Gotta love those insurance companies!!

And they wonder why I need Ambien to sleep??  Which I have given up on, because it is too much work to get their approval and then pay $40 for 12 pills!

    Grrrrr.

Listen, for a laugh, visit my new blog, www.accidentalamazon.com.  I just photoshopped a "self-portrait" per the moniker.

    Love,

    Kathi

P.S.  4 degrees??????????  That's Fahrenheit, ladies, & that's what we've got for the next few days.  The Accidental Amazon is going to need her coat!

Good evening, y'all!!!  And...VERY BELATED HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  Here I sit, in the library at the Alaska Native Medical Center!  I FINALLY got to fly in and see my onc!  I was supposed to see him last week, but it was either my village or Bethel that was having blizzardy weather!

I hope ALL of y'all are doing well???  I'm faring as well as could be expected!  Christmas was okay, but I got really sad, because my dad called me to wish me a Merry Christmas!  I got really, REALLY homesick for Texas!  I miss my dad the most, and I'm getting teary-eyed as I type...CryEmbarassed

Anyway, I didn't know I'd have to moisturize my radiated skin THAT much???  That sure is good to know!

I have a bit of interesting news for y'all, unless y'all read it here, in the website?  My onc started me on zometa, not only because it strengthens the bones, but because it helps keep cancer from coming back in the body somehow?  So now, I'll be coming back here every three months for zometa treatments, for three years...

Well, I must be off for now, as I'm still pretty tired from tossing and turning last night, and I have to call my other half!  Laughing

I sure hope y'all are doing well!  Take care and God Bless!

Hi, Sharon & Sue & Nancy & Everyone.  Just a post-rads update that I've been experiencing some new pains & tightness in what's left of my breast, new adhesions.  I've got my 6-month post-surgery mamm coming up in a few weeks (I guess a bunch of us probably do) so I've got to start massaging the poor booblet again to soften it up again for the squishing.  Oh, joy.

Don't remind me KAK! LOL!!  I go this Thurs for a mamm. Not looking forward to the discomfort of getting it and then the worry.

Will give an update soon :)

Kak and Rose - My lovely insurance won't pay for one until my yearly.  Poopieheads.  Good luck to your lil' booblets.  My lil' brown-nosed puppy (booblet) stands up to salute you!  (I wish they'd fixed the other one to match.Undecided)

Sue, where does your insurance get off only paying for a yearly after you've actually HAD CANCER?????

I don't know, but that's what my gyno said.  Why be pro-active, when they can cough up another zillion dollars after the cancer comes back??

Hey, has anyone else had more head colds & whatnot since rads?  I had a whopper my 2nd week of rads, as did a few of us as I recall, & I keep getting them.  Believe me, I'm eating well, sleeping enough, taking my vitamins, getting exercise, but I've had more colds since this freaking dx than I've had in the last 10 years!!!  Grrrrr....

Hmmmm - I haven't had any colds, so I'm not sure.  But, I also haven't been watching what I eat, working out, or sleeping enough!  Maybe that's the key!  Fat, lazy, tired...no cold would dare to invade this useless lump of flab.Cry

KAK I don't know if it is just a coincedence, but I have been sick since I started rad, which has only been 1 week. For me I know after chemo and surgery, my immune system is way down. I am not working out , but am trying to eat right. I have so many dr appointments all week, and then dealing with my sons school work, basketball practice, etc.., I am just tuckered out by the time I get home and can't make myself do anything else. Hope you are feeling better soon!

It is probably just the darn stress of it all.  Nothing like facing life & death to stress you out....

KAK - no colds or anything for me so far this winter.  Even with 2 young kids at home!  I probably just jinxed myself.  I figured all the radiation rolling around my body has killed any germs that try to invade!

Kathy, I thought it was a cold, but now I'm pretty sure its a s/e from my Arimidex. Basically, it's sinusitis. My sinuses fill up and drain and fill up and drain, over and over again. The mucus is clear, so I know there's no infection. It causes a slight cough from a post-nasal drip, but never moves down into my chest, like a normal cold would progress. And sneezing like crazy.

I checked the Astra-Zeneca site and sure enough, Arimidex has it listed as a lesser but known s/e. I wouldn't be surprised if Tamoxifen has it on it's list, too. The NP at my onc's office suggested an antihistamine like Claritin or Benadryl, and that seems to be relieving me of the symptoms.

There's an interesting thought, Nancy.  I've been more sniffly than usual this winter, so maybe that's why.

The problem is that those se's set you up for a real cold & I've now got a whopper.  Just came back from the doctor & it's all in my head so I feel like my head's coming off, plus it started to slide into my chest, plus I've had a low-grade fever.  I'm on meds now for it so hopefully it will go away.  I'm going to have to re-read all the se stuff on Tamoxifen & keep my humidifier going.  Ugh.

Aha, Nancy - so that's why my nose runs a little faucet!  It's always drippy, but no cold.  A bit coughy, too.

Just figured it was the winter drips, even though, I can't remember having much of a problem in winters past.

I find it amusing that I have NO problem getting a rx for Arimidex, but, it's like pulling teeth to get something to help with the SEs that the Arimidex causes!!

    MZ:

Next time you need a prescription for a side effect, go to the askapatient.com web site and print out the oh so many pages of personal stories about side effects from Arimidex and taken that to your dr.

Hi dear - I just pm you.

I don't know anything yet - I didn't get a letter from the clinic one way or the other. It was a week yesterday. So I called my breast surg.'s nurse - she should give me a call tomorrow.

I'll let you all know  - Thanks so much for asking and your concern Kiss

I finished WBR the first week of Nov with no problem till December when I came down with a virus that was circulating at work and I got the dreaded delayed fatigue side effects.  2 antibiotics later, half the month off work and I'm feeling pretty good again.

As an added boost to my disposition my hair is starting to grow finally!

Hey, they didn't even zap my brain, and all I've done since rads is catch every rotten cold that's come along since.  Jeesh.  Just finishing my latest antibiotic tomorrow!!

    How's work?
