I read my path report again and it says there was no lymphatic vascular invasion in and around the tumor at all but they identified one spot of micro lymphatic vasuclar invasion on the sentinal node. I did have one micro mets in that sentinal node.

I don't understand when there is no lymphatic vasscular invasion in the tumor, how could the cells go to the sentinal node? The doctor said it's not really lymphatic vassular invasion and it is a good sign there is no lypmphatic invasion in the tumor. So I am even more confused about all these.

Could any of you tell me what means if you know? thanks.

    The "VASCULAR" part is talking about the cancer creating a blood supply for itself.

    The lymph nodes are the dumping ground for old breast cells (old ones die, new ones take their place...normal process.)  So, the "trash" from the breast tissue sheds into the lymph system.  "Drains."

    That is probably how cancer cells got into the sentinal node.

    The "sentinal"...like a sentry or gate guard.  He's the first guy the enemy encounters.  In the cancer analogy, that's why the surgeon tests the sentinal node.  IF he's hot, then the other nodes need to be examined.  IF the sentinal node is cancer free, then it's most probable that the other guys down the chain are ALSO cancer free.
