Is this supplement good for prevention?  I thought I read here that a glass of red wine is good (I don't drink so I opted for the supplement) then I read on another source that it increases the risk.

Any thoughts?  How about grape seed extract?

    Thanks!

I read your last post before this one. I would not take Tamoxofen if you never had cancer before. I would buy some books and change your lifestyle to help protect you from developing cancer. Bill Henderson's latest book is excellent. Ty Bollinger's Cancer Step outside the Box, is my other favorite. I bought a lot of books since my mother's recurrence in 2005. There are other things you could do in place of Tamoxofen that would help protect you without harming you. Bill Henderson does mention grape seed extract in his books. Make sure you don't drink out of plastic bottles (water/soda). They leach endocrine disruptors into what you are ingesting. That's just one small thing. You'll be amazed at what you'll learn. I hope I am coming across as a nice person. I do mean to be :)

At the recommendation of my Chinese doctor, I  take grape seed extract every day.  This doesn't prevent me from taking the tamoxifen that my oncologist prescribed.

Thank you for your responses, and your recommendations for the books.  I will get them.  I'm glad you read my other post about tamoxifen b/c I forgot to mention in my post that I have not been dx with cancer, just very high risk. Thanks for picking that up!Cool

Thank you again.  I will swallow a handful of supplements if I have to, I just want to make sure I take the right ones.

    Your welcome MMP!

Lolita, I would understand taking Tomaxifen if you were previously diagnosed with bc. I wish My mother would have stayed on it longer. She has a friend that's been on it for a long time and is doing well.

As far as supplements, this is what I take:

    Garlic

Red wine extract or grape seed extract

    Green tea (315 mg)

    Vitamin E

    Vit D w/ calcium

    Fish Oil (Omega 3).

I keep reading about cruciferous vegetables and DIM.  Is there a recommended DIM supplement?

Is there another supplements I should add to my mix?

Again, thank you so much.  My prayers are with all of you.

I take some supplements but there is a controversy re supplements vs consuming foods that contain same vitamins/minerals/antioxidants.  For example there was a longitudinal study where they followed people taking beta carotene supplement (an antioxidant found in orange coloured fruit and vegetables) and people who took the supplement had more cancers than people who did not.  They are not sure why this happened. One theory is that in foods vitamins/minerals are balanced with other elements in the way that makes them more bioavailable but also less harmful. I guess what I am saying is that at least for easily accessible foods that have anti cancer properties we should be increasing food intake rather than take more supplements.  The best ones are the cruciferous vegetables (all sorts of cabbages, broccoli, brussels sprouts etc) and alum vegetables (onion, leeks, garlic, chives).  Selenium is difficult to get through food (brazil nuts have it but I have read somewhere that they are otherwise not too healthy) so I take that as a supplement.  Curcumin is good for us but that can be taken by consuming asian spice Turmeric which is rich in curcumin.
