I am in for the 11th. Happy new year everyone. I will let Conniesue and Barb know as well.
-
Wings.............yup....the husband told me that 94 was just past the hospital exit on 23......!
Irene lives in Imlay City..........how far is it for you, Irene?
Hoping some of our new friends can make it.....Brighton and Waterford are two that I remember right off....(where they live)..!
I'll keep checking in to see what is decided for sure!
Neesie
-
I live in Bay City and would really like to come and meet all you ladies, Ann Arbor is a little too far and if we have a storm I wouldn't make it. Brighton would be better.
Denise
-
Brighton works for me and I think it may be central for many of us except quite a treck for Wings. Neesie, can you suggest a place? Wings, can you brave the drive?
Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Everyone,
Some Sad news to post, not sure if you were aware. " Fancy", Kay Galipeau, from Fenton, MI and part of this tread awhile back, passed away on Dec. 21st. Some have been trying to contact her to see how she was doing and confirmed her passing earlier today. Gina posted it elsewhere on BCO today but I thought of this thread and thought I would post so you would see it.
I don't think she has posted here in months - but she was part of this tread early on. Many heavy hearts again today.
-
Thanks for posting here Brenda..................I just came here to let the girls know. I haven't read what was posted here yet (meaning BCO).........I'm going to try to find some info in the newspaper as she lives really close to me.
Hugs,
Neesie

Thanks for posting about Kay. I was just thinking about her the other day and wondering how she was doing. What a shocker. I thought for sure she'd be okay.
Brighton would work for me. Assuming the weather's decent. Any suggestions on where?

Okay Girls............Here are some restaurants in Brighton. Haven't eaten at them but most are chains and should have a variety!
Outback Steakhouse
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers...........family type place
Golden Platter.............Think it's a fairly new family place
Little Archies
Cracker Barrel...............think it may tend to be kind of busy on a Sunday afternoon.
Chili's
Brighton House...........No idea on the prices.
TGI Fridays
Scalawags.............Newer restaurant..........sounds like they have alot of fish dishes and sandwiches along with Chicken.
O'Callaghans............Sounds Irish, Do you know Nancy?............Maybe I can try their website.
Howell.......which is basically connected to Brighton....(that's a city!)
Bob Evans
Applebees
Bennigans
Okay.......do any of these sound good to you all?
Bonnie........you can do Brighton can't you??????
Trying to figure out who is coming:
Denise (me)
Nancy
Irene
Bonnie
Chris
Denise (Bay City)
Waterlily??
Anybody have a number for SusieLou?
Sue, Judy (both), Wendy.........????
I'll check in tomorrow.
Denise

hi friends....I see we are planning a get together for next sunday...not sure I can make it - will really try.
-
My heart sunk hearing about Kay. I was also just thinking about her and was thinking that it has been too long since she checked in. Thank you for telling us Brenda.
Neesie - I went to Brighton House many years ago and remember it being pricey. I have not been to O'Callaghans.
I just got email from my cousin that she has breast cancer after having ovarian cancer 11 years ago. Her sister found out she has ovarian last week also. I'm still reeling about Kay and that. I'll be back soon to see where we decide to meet.
Gina wrote on this post http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/8/topic/726708?page=1#idx_16
that there will be a memorial service for Kay on Wednesday evening. Does anyone know the details? I'll send a PM to Gina.
Nancy
-
Mmmmm, Chili's. Anyone else like Chili's?
Nancy, I'm so sorry about your cousins. What a way to start the new year.
Irene
-
What a rough start to the new year...........so sorry to hear about your cousins, Nancy. It sure seems like alot of girls are going 'backwards' instead of 'forward' with this crap............
I love Chili's, Irene..............
Hope by the end of the day we can come up with a definite! Nancy, I have never eaten at Brighton house, but agree that it is probably pricey. Same with O'callaghans.
I'll check back in a bit!

I am so upset about Fancy2 (Kay). Ugh!!! I too was just thinking about her the other day, especially since we are planning in her area. Please let me know of the details of the services...I would like to attend if at all possible.
I posted this elsewhere...I am so so so very upset about Fancy (Kay)...she was such an inspiration to me. I met her at the Komen walk in 2006...our first time the MI Survivors sisters formed "Wings of Hope." I remember her telling me that she was wearing all pink, right down to her underwear...and so was I!!!
Later after the race...she needed a ride to where Eddie was working at the stamping plant. My husband and I met Eddie and he showed us the stamping plant (where they filmed 8 Mile-Detroit Stamping, Eddie was there when it happened!). We were so thrilled as the plant had old presses and my husband had never been in that type of factory before.
She was big time into natural healing and gave us a list of the vitamins to take (and why they are recommended) and where to order them from. I still use her list as a part of my daily take-up. And she told me about Traders Joes (her daughter worked at one in Washington) and organic foods. And that us estrogen positives should always consume organic dairy products (I do Kay).
Her husband was sick...and had a similar illness that my husband had gone through. We often talked about it...and then came that terrible day in May, when Eddie passed.
The last time I saw her was at a Christmas get together...Irene, Anna, and I were picking out a work gift at Always Christmas that I used for the White Elephant.
I too have been thinking about her recently and had last communicated with her a few months ago. I am so sad. Like Sphynx said, she had beautiful long hair that she kept in a long braid. She often talked about her horses, and the farm that she and Eddie had together. I somehow feel that she partially died of a broken heart.
I learned a lot from her...and I won't forget her. My memories will be of her and Eddie riding on their horses into the sunset on that beautiful land that they owned in God's country in MI. Gone but not forgotten.
Not Me -
Hi, all!
I am in for Chili's, as I always like eating there, but, to be honest, I could find something on any menu that I'll eat. I don't live far from here, will have to see what Scalawags has - fish sounds good. Although chains do dreadful things - went out with some people before Christmas and had flounder at Macaroni Grill - when I got home and looked it up, it had 2000 calories.
I haven't heard from Wendy since our last outing, although I have used the lovely gifts she gave us. I'll give her a call once we decide.
I sorry your friend passed away. Cancer is a rotten thing.

Hello All, Yes, it's been quite sometime since I've been here. Just so much going on, as there is with all of us. I'll be getting my 7th Chemo tomorrow #3 Taxol. The first 4 treatments were A/C, my 1st Taxol was pure hell, the 2nd one my Dr. didn't send me for the Nuelasta shot and it went better. I still had the muscle & bone pain , but it was less intense. So I think my 8th & final treatment will be around Jan. 19-22. Does anyone eat sweets like crazy before a treatment? Man, I'm just eating everything in site. My family Dr. gets my blood draw reports and is concerned about my sugar being a bit high, but my oncology Dr. never says a word about it, and I even asked her once....... Hope I need not be concerned.......
I'm sorry I didn't pop in to wish you all Happy Holidays & Happy New Year. I do hope for nothing but good health to all of you and me. Are any of you from the Upper Peninsula that might like to get together for lunch and a good visit? If so, let me know. Ok girls, chin up, smile, make someone else smile each day, hug your family, be thankful for your family & friends support.
-
I beleive Connisure and Barb are in as well. What time on Sunday? We should make it past chruch times a bit.
Sue-yikes on the 2000 calories.
Sphynx-so sorry about your relatives.
Cheryl-love the UP...my daughter went to Tech and my uncle lived in Chassell for many years. I haven't been up there in awhile though. -
So very sorry about Kay (Fancy). I knew she was posting on Gina's site more than here but since I didn't go there often, have not kept up with her. Like Chris, I too followed her recommendations on vitamins and the dairy. I believe also that she missed her hubby so very much. I pray God's blessings on her and her family . . .
Nancy: So sorry to hear about you relatives. What a way to start 2009!! BAH!!!
Again, sorry I won't be seeing you guys this weekend as I will be in Chicago for Quinn's 2nd birthday. I surely hope the next time we meet I will be able to make it.
Blessings on all and a bright and healthy 2009.
Hugs,
Pat

HHHEEEELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOO..............................where did everyone go???? Just kidding..
Are we going with Chili's in Brighton on Sunday, Jan. 11th.? What time is good for all? Glad that Connisue and Barb are joining us! As of this morning, the weather sounds good for traveling...keeping all crossables crossed!
Chris, I could not find anything on the Memorial for Kay, not even an Obituary in any of the local papers. I asked Gina if she had any info and what she had she really had to play detective to get...She (Gina) has written a beautiful tribute to Kay on Her Site....No Surrender...........but it appears that there really isn't a 'formal' memorial happening........just a couple people going to her house...............Kind of sad, but don't know if maybe this was Kays wishes??
Hugs,
Neesie

Do we want to make this a luncheon, or a mid-afternoon bash?

I was in there last Sunday for lunch, and I don't think we'll have a problem. I'm so looking forward to seeing y'all again - the real me is so much more fun than the person you met when I was first out of treatment!

Bonnie- thanks for sending me a message to get in here!

Hi everyone,
Haven't been on here in a LONG time, but looks like I sneaked a peek just in time. If it's not too late, please include me for Sunday in Brighton. Hopefully I will be better than I have been the last three days and be up and about. Some nasty bug has got me down flat, but there's three days to get better. It will be so good to see everyone.
See you all at 1:00 on the 11th at Chili's in Brighton. Take care.
Wendy
-
Wendy!
I was going to call you, if I could find your #
Looking forward to seeing you.
-
So sad to hear about Kay.....sorry I did not have the pleasure of meeting her in person.
Nancy - Sorry to hear about your cousins. WTH where is our CURE!
Pat - Travel safe and enjoy your time with Grandson. Happy 2nd Birthday to Quinn.
Rockysmom - Oh good you received my voice mail. Hope you can make it.
Question on directions - How far is Brighton from Ann Arbor?
I usually hop on 94 and then hit 14 would it be easier to take 96 to Brighton instead of 94?
I think mapquest has me traveling down 94 to 14.....any suggestions?
