I can't get my act together and I don't know why

Sounds like a plan to me to follow~
Here's to 2039 and beyond~
-
A mystery: how could the dead lights light when tested~~~~after 3 hours spent removing ornaments and 2 unwinding light strings from the blasted tree? The whole shebang was running on the same extension cord. Poltergeists?
I would have left everything up too (except fresh greens were nasty; wore ski gloves to gather them up) if tree had been pretty~~~but I have Garden Club coming January 6.
I suppose they'll expect fresh flower arrangements. {sigh}
-
Why not do a fresh plant arrangement instead. Last fall a friend sent me flowers from a shop that does the fresh plants set into a huge basket each in their own containers and then wrapped raffia around all the pots. Then cut flowers were in those little tubes and added to the pots.
When the flowers faded, I had 6 plants for the yard that spring, and a beautiful basket that now holds magazines. LOVED it!
As for the lights....you mean the strand showed it had power throughout it, but the lights didn't light, or the lights lit on the tester, and not the cord? could be ONE spot that is not working in some of the older strands and it make the entire cord not work,or not from that one light on down
-
dream,
I like your New Years Resolution, but I would have to change it like this:
If a task is begun, do not stop until it's done.... ok, I will finish that bottle of wine, that pizza, and that box of chocolates!!
That is my story, and I'm sticking to it!!
Happy New year, all!Harley
-
Well, that's a given Harley. Finishing the chocolate I just bought, b/c it was a christmas sale

-
Daffodil.....you crack me up! Hope your owwwies get better soon!
I haven't put a thing away from christmas! My excuse is the MIL is still coming here for a bit of leftover seasons cheer so I left it up for her! HA......maybe hubby and her can pack it away since he is laid off! I'll have to get that "Honey do List" ready before he gets back here with his mom. Whadya think???? All house hold chores can be transferred over???? I can just go to work and come home to my mollymaids! LOL
Pass the chocolate Wish!
-
Good floral plan, Wish~~~and I received a reprieve, in the midst of stuffing tree parts in bags. The club chair had meant to have the meeting a week later, with so many away for the holidays. Now the meeting is the 13th~~~and my house is clean-ish, bare, unlit and gloomy!!!

The lights didn't work on the tree, where they were plugged into each other, end-on-end.
Separately, they were fine. Oh well.....I won't do this elaborate a display next year. Of course, I've spent $100's buying lovely Christmas stuff at 70% off!!! Well, some of it works all year long.......DH is asking if I have saved the economy yet.
-
Well, I didn't buy Christmas decorations, but did purchase boots (which I absolutely hate to wear, regardless of 4 feet of snow in dec), and yesterday a winter coat. It was 1/2 off and I had a spend $75, get $15 off, so it was even cheaper than I expected. Figured if I was the one to have snow-removal duties this year, I was going to have the necessary clothing to do it. Might even invest in long-johns!

-
Wish,
Get the silk ones from L.L. Bean----tell your dh those are the only ones that work. I got them for my son and his gf (they're in Pittsburgh) and they love them!
-
Silk Long johns? Cool~ I'll do a google on them

-
Sue? What's the difference between the silk pants and silk pointelle pants? Other than price. Do you know?
-
Wish,
I think the silk pointtelle have a pretty pattern and are thicker, but are not all silk. The silk ones are aall silk, and a bit pricey, but my son and his gf give them great reviews--feels great next to your skin and traps air for a warm layer.
-
I used to have a pair of silk longjohns and they were great....that was about 6 smaller sizes ago. Now I have my fat to keep me warm.
-
My sister and her husband are sled dog racers and they love the silk long johns. Land's End and LL bean have or used to have flannel lined jeans - almost as good as sweats for keeping warm. And Haband used to have them also, but only men's sizing. My brother is a tow truck driver and swears by the lined jeans. If you get them to fit your hips, you can wear a belt, as men's are not as curvy to the waist as women's.
And if anyone has a silk blouse, you know how hot it can be and not something you would ever wear in the summertime. Silk long johns are also not nearly as bulky as those waffle weave ones - avoiding that Michelin man look !!!
-
While you are at it, get a silk t-neck or mock neck to wear under thin or itchy sweaters! I have a sleeveless ivory one with short mock neck that is a Godsend.
This talk of silk underwear makes me yearn to ski~~~but with this Arimidex joint weakness, I am leery.
I found men's Tommy Bahama sportswear on 50% off reduced price, 20% coupon~~~DH's March birthday is taken care of; all I need now are reservations anywhere with a beach!
-
Wow, I guess no one is able to get her act together this week!
I can assure y'all that the decorations are sitting in the basement, the new stuff on top of them, tablecloths & napkins waiting to be ironed before storage, stuff just sitting waiting patiently to be returned to its place~~~~lah-di-dah.........
-
Daff, that avatar photo!!! OMG, too funny!
I've enjoyed watching how my own house has rapidly resumed its usual untidy state since its Christmas facelift. Feels like home again. BTW, Daff, my outdoor Christmas decorations, along with two of my shutters have been blown down by all the wind we've had here lately, so that's my excuse for the outside of the house. LOL
-
That is my Halloween costume: Evil Queen!!!
I have been surprised that my garlands haven't blown down.
Here to admit that at last I am doing some ironing......tired of looking at it!
-
IRONING? Woman....i didn't know anyone but me did that anymore!

Here, and must say, the house is buried in a mess! Starting working a second job, and oh my! Laundry is only the minimal...thankfully I have an extra shower liner, and sheets, or they wouldn't get changed andwashed. Laundry is piling up with non-essentials being neglected.....napkins, extra towels etc....oh well, they'll still be there on sunday (Maybe longer)

Dishes are NOT loaded and the clean ones are being used from the D/W rather than the cupboards.
Dh was a little miffed yesterday. He's only worked one day since last Sat, so I had a list of things to do for him yesterday when I left for work..geesh? Was I asking too much to get his meds picked up with groceries? UGH! WHATEVER huh?
We've had about 4-5 inches of snow since he's been off, and it was still there when heleft this morning, so now we are due for another 3-5 and hmmmm...it's going to be there with the there 4-5 tll he's home next week too, dern it! Oops...this should be on the B*tch, moan and groan thread huh?
Sorry.... -
Go right ahead, wish! I've snarked at DH, too...HE'S tired? HAH!!!
At least I caught up on some tapes of The View......so glad I can watch it again, with minimal sniping.
-
Thanks....I knew I could count on support here~
-
This should probably be on the bitch and moan thread, but this is where I usually post my complaints, and I have SEVERAL! Just in the last week I've had a stomach flu, the heater in my house has broken, two plugs in my kitchen no longer work, and today my garage door opener broke, and of course my vehicle is inside the garage. When do things get BETTER? Considering how finite life is, I think I've waited plenty long enough! hrmph
-
I'll use the old stand by from the B/M & G thread and offer up a big ol' THAT SUX althea!
Sorry, but I counted more than 3 IOS's and you're only allowed 3, so you'll have to take some of them back
J/K..but sorry you are dealing with all that:( -
Hi, girls. My house is almost back to where it was before, with the exception of the dining room. And my laundry room? Tragic.
Love the new av, Daffodil.
:waves at KAK:
Althea: Sorry for all your troubles and, Wish, go ahead and bitch away. Husbands can be so maddening. I'm not speaking to mine tonight...he doesn't know it yet because he's not speaking to me either. I'm looking forward to the next time he says something to me, so I can not respond.

Hanna, that's hysterical, I've never heard that, but can attest to the animals love of the buzz. What with kitty nip and the winters of berries that ferment and the crazy birds that get so buzzed, they fall of the branches or miss them when landing. Not to mention that it lowers their inhibitions! we had about 7 species in one bush just outside our bay window. Drove the cats nuts, b/c the birds were too buzze to even care the cats were jumping at the window!

gsG....good work! 2 weeks and the house is well on it's way to normal

-
dang, wish, you just gave me more moaning and groaning material. I read five pages of the groan thread and for the life of me can't figure out what IOS is or SOI. I feel like I have holes in my brain. So, I guess I need to hog two spots if I only get 3 moans each.
g, hope your h figures out you're not speaking to him soon
-
IOS = Issue of Suckiness (bad thing)
SOI = Suckiness otherwise inverted or the opposite of IOS.
-
Lets hope either of them can remember what it was that caused the 'I'm not speaking to you' saga!

Althea...tis okay to put them all down on one post, just so you know though, that's all the suckiness you get this month!
Hope it all get taken care of soon and you can start reporting some SOI soon
BTW....IOS is Issues of suckiness, SOI...hm....suckiness otherwise inverted maybe? Not sure if anyone has figured that out for certain, but it's usually when something good happens

-
See...I was right and didn't even know for certain!

And on that note, I bid you all a good night and a messy house for the morning
