HER2 Question

Hi everyone, I got my path results back and they said my Her2-IHC was 2+ (borderline) so they performed the Her2-fish which was 1.7. they gave me a negative for HER2. Can I feel safe with this 1.7 number as really being negative?? I asked for the ONCOTYPE test but was told by the onco that it wasn't necessary. Anyone have info for me??

I think the ceiling for the fish score is 9 so 1.7 would seem to be low (I was 6.5). However, I think you will get some more informed responses if you repost your query on the her2+ section of this forum, if you haven't already.

According to my research, the range between 1.8 and 2.2 on the FISH is called "equivocal" (neither positive nor negative). 1.7 is considered HER2-.
