I am still having questions understanding how the lympatic system works. You see, I have one little tiny micro mets in one sentinal node and they removed all my 21 nodes that were clear. So if the tiny micro was all there was which the bad cell traveled to, by removal, then I can well be by now  cancer free, or most likely be cancer free. Right? Because  they told me I did not have vascular blood invasion. I don't know how this works, any one help? pls

newalex -- I had one positive sentinal node, and another 15 removed. If you test positive in a sentinal node, the others are removed to check for more metastasis and to lessen the chance that any more microscopic CA cells -- ones that can't be detected -- get through the lymph barrier.   There's no guarantee, of course, and I don't know the exact statistics, but it's suppose to help prevent metastasis.

Best of luck on your journey.

    hi Maxgirl,

When they tested your sentinal node found 1 positive and took the rest 15, did they found another positive node because you had 2/15 nodes? When you say lymph barrier, does it mean lymph nodes which usually do the job as filter? Sorry I am not medically knowledgeable.

Oops -- yes, they did find another one.  It was the next one in line to the affected sentinal node.  I did mean the filtering  lymph nodes -- lymph barrier isn't a technical term, I just drew a chemo brain blank on how to say it. :D   Sorry I wasn't more clear!
