weekly toxol and carborplantin
Yesterday I started my first run of 12 weekly toxol and carboplantin. At first I threw up they had to slow down the dosage and it finished the infusion in 4 hours. I felt sick but the day after I am ok without too much nausea feeling.
My doctor told me he added the carborplantin to make sure things are fine. It is usually not used to treat early stage TN. I therefore wonder if anyone had done TN at early stage?

Hi newalex. Hope things are settling down for you.
My wife Andrea is about to start her chemo. She's starting with AC, and then going dose dense with Taxol only, but every 2 weeks - not 1.
I put the question to her Oncologist about including Carboplantin with the Taxol. The response we received was that this amount of toxicity might be too high, and hamper Andrea's treatment. Carboplantin is not scientifically proven to be more effective with Taxol, as opposed to Taxol alone - although there are trials taking place at present.
Talking of trials, Andrea will be on the Avastin phase which her Oncologist feels is looking promising in Early Stage TN.

My Onc told me the opposit; he said Avastin is not as effective but with Carboplatin seems to be better when is together with toxol. I really don't know the answer anymore, maybe other ladies can help.
