Thanks HunkyD. I will try it. I think your culprit is cute. I love dogs and cats.
Sarah I will think of some books for you. Hope the weather cooperates for you.
Jax, yeah on the drains. I remember what a pain they were.
Stay warm and dry and have a Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas and God Bless. Nancy
-
My June sisters....Was a very busy day for me....seems that there is so much to do for entertaining at Christmas. I made desserts today. Husband and son are making Prime Rib and Jumbo Shrimp for Xmas dinner. I am responsible for the side dishes which still seem like a chore for me. There is something about Christmas this year that just makes me want to crawl into a hole and pull my hair out, but I don't have enough to grasp. I am sure I will get through it, but I finally understand the emotional turmoil that holidays bring for those going through life challenges. Well, tonight I guess maybe it's time to sit down with my husband, the order in pizza, and a frosty beer, and a hope for a fresh new outlook tomorrow. Lot's more snow coming tonight. I am wishing you all from the bottom of my heart a peaceful, painfree Holiday. If, I didn't have this Breast Cancer Board outlet..I would probably not be functioning as well as I am...Thank you all! HunkyD
P.S. If any of you get a Red Rider BB-Gun tomorrow.. Be careful....you'll shoot your eye out kid!!
-
HunkyD......lmao.......I'll be careful for my eye.........DH has the leg lamp shining bright in our dining room window for all to see......oh the joy of Christmas.......got the last minute assembly all finished......I love Christmas Eve!..........drinking Ameretto Sours and chillaxin for a few more minutes before bed and the big day.........I LOVE CHRISTMAS!.......Kids are super excited and I think their mom is too!......I hope you all have a great christmas and I know we will all have a much better 2009.......MERRY CHRISTMAS to all.........and to all a good night!

Final pathology after the re excision Dec 17: NO EVIDENCE OF CARCINOMA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I didn'g get a Red Rider BB-Gun so I didn't shoot my eye out, but I do have the leg lamp ( SMALL) as my hall lamp and it was brightly lit. People ask me why I have the lamp and I say because it fits. HAHAHA.
We have a lot of snow today. It is cold also, a lot of wind.
Nancy--Congratulations on your pathology. What a great Christmas gift.
Hope everyone else had a great Christmas. Keep in touch.

Great news Nancy, bet you are sleeping better. That is the best Christmas present!!!
Wyoming and Jax, I am scared to walk out to the hot tub...I might really get my eye poked out with the icicles hanging right above the door. No Red Rider BB gun for me either. Just a lot of good food and drink. Started Tamoxifen...will see how that effects me. Later to all my Junies We are finally getting more snow here. P.S. Hair is much darker than I wanted but it is hair....! Wyoming...how is yours going?

Sarah,
Have you read the Janet Evanovich One for the money... series? I think they are so funny. I especially like the parts about the grandmother. Another easy author that I like is Maeve Binchy, although she is more of a storyteller and less of the laughs.
I love to read, I can't imagine not being able to "fall into" a book and relax.
HunkyD and Bonnie,
Bummer about the rads not really hitting until after treatment. So far I just keep rubbing at my sternum where it itches like crazy. I forget why half the time and the one time I remembered I tried to open the foil cover on my hydrocortizone cream with my mouth and ended up with a horrible taste when the cream squirted out at me and hit me in the mouth. I did schedule a vacation in Feb as a celebration of being done so at least if I am sore I will be sore somewhere warm...
Wyoming, He was in a container but I didn't get to see it. Today she came back and when I asked where he was since I didn't see the bag she said he was in the car and the dog was "babysitting" Stange but true...

Kelly,
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll pick up the first two from the library tomorrow. Today our roads are "ice covered and hazardous" and I am not leaving the house, except to put out bird seed. Luckily we have a full fridge and a case of oarnges in the basement.
I'm in the middle of replacing a zipper in a down jacket. It is the stupidest thing I ever agreed to. There is down everywhere no matter how hard I try to contain it. I have it sitting on the kitchen table to force myself to finish it. I basted the easy side first. What was I thinking...

Kelly, I hope that you will do fine through the end of your radiation. I really only had one week or so that was just a little uncomfortable as far as skin issues, and it was the last week in the area of my clavicle field. I am still going through some increased pain in my shoulder area however. I'll bet you are looking forward to some vacation time after all the treatments. Later...HunkyD

Glad everyone is doing so well. Can you believe how far we have all come. I remember when we all joined this thread and I couldn't believe how many of us there were.
Well, any New Years resolutions?? I did get the Wii fit for Christmas and it is a lot of fun.. so this is the start of my exercising. Losing weight.. that is the other one. I did read that for us ladies the more we can control our weight the better it is long term.
Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year .
Karen
-
Nancy... Congrats on your pathology... great news for the New Year.
-
Kelly, I love to read also. Nothing is better than a good book. Sarah have you tried reading Jodi Picoult's books? Most of her books have a unexpected turn.
HunkyD don't go to the hot tub until the icicles melt or you WILL put your eye out.
I'm not having any problems with my skin from radiation but my joints are stiff and sore.
Have a great New Years Eve and hopefully we all have a better "09"

KKing, I do remember just starting on this thread. Not many posters anymore. I think it is great you have a New Years resolution. You are right about the weight statistics and cancer reocurrence. I know I need to get moving and I did today. After my appt. with my surgeon, which took all of 10 minutes, I took the tree and decorations down. That was as big of a workout as I have had in a while. Moved furniture back in place and drug all the boxes down to storage. My back and shoulder are feeling it. Wyoming....how is the kitchen coming? Granite countertops and the whole works? I'll bet you will enjoy it when it is finished. My husband knocked all the icicles down Sunday Morning outside while I was in bed...I thought we were being bombed. It has warmed up now so I won't have to worry about them for a while. Sara, I don't read a whole lot besides the master of horror...Stephen King. Not real light reading I guess, but I have read most all of his books. I got one of his for Xmas actually that I haven't started. The last easy read I did was a book called The Shack by William Young. Very short but I enjoyed it. Actually I think I downloaded it for my iPod as a digital book back when I was diagnosed, and listened to it. Jax...how's the hair color. I will be interested to see if you do any permanent coloring..ie...Blonde. How are your expanders working out for you? Well, no work for me until next Monday. Time to get some long ignored corners cleaned around here. Take care all.....HunkyD

Hey All sorry haven't been around for awhile! I go back to work in a couple of weeks - been off since April. My neice passed away Christmas day - she was only 32. Her heart gave out! That sucks!
Anyways - chocolate lover - glad you doing OK in Mexico - wish I could be with you giving you support and enjoying some warm weather as it is 25 below here! The table spoon of shampoo works great - but my hair is now dark brown instead of blonde! Hope it lightens up!
Hey are any of you guys still having sore legs? Mine are almost crippling when I get up but when I move around a bit they get better. I see the onc on Monday so will ask him too. I am going to start back at the gym next week as I am now gaining much weight especially with all the chocolate I got for Christmas!
Vinodal - pic is gorgeous!
Hey I went out for a Christmas party and drank 6 beers! On a good day that would put me under the table as I am normally not a drinker - maybe chemo made me immune to beer? Haven't drank since May long weekend!
Well happy new years everyone!!!!!!! Hope 2009 is better than 2008! Happiness and health to all!
-
2008 has been the pitts for all of us. I lost my father in Feb of kidney cancer then I was diagnosed with breasts cancer, and my grand-daughter who was 8 months old got pneumonia. SuePeet, Sorry to hear about your niece. I'm having sore legs. When I get up, I'm stiff but when I move around much better. Let me know what your onc says.
HunkyD, I ordered my cabinets but they won't be in until the middle of Jan. I am planning to clean out old cupboards so when new ones are in we can start. I haven't decided on the counter tops yet. I love the granite but hate the cost. My hair is growing and filling in. It looks a lot darker than what I'm used to. It also has more gray. Good thing for hair dye. It is soooo soft. My husband calls me his Chi-Chi-Chi-Cheea pet. Good thing I'm used to his sense of humor.
I've lost the weight and I'm now down to pre-cancer weight. I need to keep up with the exercise. It is frustrating to hear how exercise prevents breast cancer when I exercised everyday. Right now my motivation sucks. Enough Bitching!!!!!!!
Have fun and safe Happy New Year Eve

-
Happy New year to all - yup 2009 is going to kick ass (excuse the expression) over 2008 that is for sure! Woming - will advise what onc says about legs - so far have heard that the chemo draons all the a=something acid out of your muscles so you have to buld them up again! going back to my gym next week and see what happnes!
Have a great one gals!

Hoping for Health, Happiness, and an inner peace for all in 2009. May every ache, pain, and diagnostic test we experience this coming year be stable or clear and free of the cancer we have already all fought so intensely. Don't stop posting! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! HunkyD

Happy healthy 2009 !!!! I am back in wonderful Canada, and loving it! It is so wonderful to be home after such a long time away! There is nuthin' like your own bed!!! Ahhh....... I actually got home Dec 16 and family arrived from Ontario on Dec 18 for the holidays. Whew! So now I am just relaxing and sleeping lots and healing. Mexico turned out to be quite a learning experience. We met so many wonderful people, all seeking medical treatment for various things, but mostly cancer. I switched from the clinic after two weeks, because I could still see disease progression (little lumps spreading across my back and shoulders when they had only been on my chest at home). This clinic helps a lot of people, but I needed something faster/stronger. With no time to waste, I went to consult at a hospital with more agressive treatments in Tijuana still, and they checked me in right away. So, after 2 weeks at the clinic, I had another 3 weeks at the hospital. Here they give IV's by IPT. Google that gals, as it's quite an extensive explanation and I wouldn't want to bore you here.
But worth looking into! And, now I feel great! The treatments (I also had chemo; Adriamycin and Gemcitabine; by IPT while there which was not part of the hospital program, but my husband and I wanted to see improvement before coming home, and we felt this was best for me) The lumps have all flattened out and are not painful anymore and my skin is not so prickly sensitive either. These results are similar to when I took paclitaxel in July/August, so I know that it kicked the cancer in the ass! I am going back for the third tx around Jan 15, so please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I read your posts as much as possible, and I want to say what champions we all are! We are AMAZING women! And 2009 is going to be such a great year for all of us! But to all who made resolutions to lose weight - just be good 90% of the time. 10% of yummy and 90% healthy choices is a great balance for staying healthy and not feeling guilty. And I will try to remember that tomorrow as I turn 39 years young and have cake! (chocolate of course!) 9 years of dealing with this cancer issue has taught me a lot, but I am still a kid at heart, despite the years adding up quickly. Love ya ladies!
-
Chocolate Lover nice to hear from you. I like your idea about 90% healthy and 10% yummy. I have been working on eating more fruits and vegetables. The fruit is easy but I have never been a fan of vegetables. Keep in touch.
I'm a popcorn lover and my family surprised me with a smaller version of a popcorn popper like at the theaters. When my grand children get older what fun we will have.
My hair is filling in but not too long yet. It still looks darker.
HunkyD love the picture.
Here is a picture of me and my grand-kids this summer. Kody is on the left and Addison is the one who looks drunk. We can never catch her smile.
Have a good weekend.

They are so cute. I used to want another baby when I spied cute kids~ but in the last few years I see cute but my brain starts remembereing all the work involved and I no longer want another of my own. I guess losing that desire and turning forty are all part of growing older...
Kelly

Cute grandkids Wyoming. Addison is almost ready to smile. I'll bet you love having them around and I am sure you don't spoil them...hehe! That is crazy you mentioned popcorn. I love it too. It gets stuck in my teeth though and drives me almost crazy sometimes. Glad you posted the pic.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Chocolate! Glad to hear from you again and that you are home. I will keep you in my prayers for your third treatment. Its good you got some response. I hope you have a great day today and get whatever your heart desires. Today you can do 90% yummy and 10% healthy. I will have a toast to you later tonight. With that said I will sign off and wish all a great Saturday. I am still in my sweats and it's noon here. No, I'm not in them to exercise either although I should be. Later all! HunkyD
-
HunkyD - Please explain your picture. Your hair has loads of body.
Sarah
-
Sarah, I felt I needed a new avatar that somewhat more reflects my current "coiffer". Thanks for noticing all the body and bounce...I think it probably is the result of the expensive conditioner I am using called....water!
-
If I would have known that water was so wonderful for hair I would have saved a lot of money on conditioner.
My hair is extremely soft.
Kelly, being a grand-mother is easier than being the parent. I don't have to do any of the work. My daughters keep telling me that I don't need to keep buying the babies any more stuff but I tell them that is what grandma's do.
HunkyD, I got home from running errands and put my sweats on and I not exercising either. They are the best to lounge in.
Chocolate Lover Happy Birthday!!
To Everyone: stay warm and have a fun Sat.

Get this. My hair started growing back in mid November (8 weeks after chemo) and it was coming in brownish gray like my normal hair. Then I had two more infusions after surgery and now my hair is coming in white white white. Granted it is 1/4 inch or less long, but it is BRIGHT WHITE! I'm not sure I like that, although having hair should be warm. I don't remember.
I almost entered a snowshoe race today. Luckily my elderly parents came to visit, so I stayed home. It was only 5 km, but my endurance is still shot. Maybe in a few weeks I'll have the stamina to shuffle along and finish a race.
