Florida People WHERE R U?

Hello FL Gals. Happy to say...goodbye Fay! New, predicted the first full sunny day for us in Miami. I plan to be outdoors catching those rays.
Joy - Yeah, glad to hear the abscess is gone.
Have a great day!
-
Lori,
Are you OK? 20 inches is way too much rain in 24 hours. I hope you're not flooded. Please let us know.
Odalys,
We saw the sun for most of the day today - it's about time!!
Bill went over to Melbourne yesterday to check on our boat - we had some minor leaks around a couple of the portholes, but the worst was a duffel bag that was full of our "boat clothes" that was on the V-berth right under the A/C unit. Rain got in around the A/C and the bag was soaking wet, and you can just imagine the smell of the clothes. I'm grateful that we didn't have any more damage than that, though.
Hugs,
Karen

Hi Florida ladies,
Please check out my post in the Forum "Walks, Runs and Other Fundraising Events", about the ACS Metro Orlando walk.

I'd love to have you join me if you can.

Hi All,
How is everyone doing after Fay? Here's hoping Hanna stays off-shore and that Ike doesn't make a direct hit on us. He's awfully powerful!!
Hugs,
-
Hi all - Let's just hope Ike decides to turn away from So. Fla. Stay safe ladies.
-
Hey, all--I didn't realize I could come here for hurricane updates! I'm in east-central Alabama, which is normally outside the threat zone, but Opal hit us really hard in '95--even this far inland. I'll never forget that sound...
We got Fay, but only to the tune of about 7 inches of rain, which we desperately needed. Have y'all popped up to the surface after her rains, yet.?
And now there's Ike. Our local (Montgomery, AL) weather guy is really, really worried about Ike. The Keys are being evacuated this weekend, right? I hate to wish a hurricane on anyone else, but I wish Ike would get into the Gulf and then head for some unpopulated area of Central America...
Stay safe!

Hey All,
Here at St. Pete Beach, it looks as though Ike may not be kind to us. In fact, he looks down right scary!!! Won't know better til Mon., so we're hoping for the best! We just got some cloudy skies and wind from Fay.
Getting ready to batten down the hatches once again!!
I'm really thankful that we're all ok after Fay!!
Live well you guys!! Anyone on high ground?? :-)

Send prayers to Kimin Jax. She just found out her mets has spread to her brain and will be starting radiation. Check out recurrance and mets thread.

She has my prayers.

Hey Fl. Ladies,
I got my confirmation for the Moffitt Factors conference. Looking forward to meeting several of you there. If you would like to meet up before, after or at the conference, please send me a pm, so we can arrange something.
Lori - I am sorry you won't be coming this year. I was hoping you could make it and was looking forward to seeing you again.
Cathy- same goes for you. Wish you were coming again this year.
I rarely visit the boards these days, but you will find me in the chat room almost every evening.
Take care everyone.
Hugs and Chocolate

Hi Elaine:
I don't frequent these boards much anymore, either. Sorry I will miss the conference. October is way too busy for me - ds's birthday party this weekend, friends birthday, going to NC for a visit. Hope you guys are able to get together and have fun!!!!
I just had a Davinci robotic hysterectomy 4 weeks ago - great recovery so far. Can do most everything except exercise and lift.
Tell everyone I said hello!

Hi,
I had a wonderful time at the Moffitt conference - it was great to meet so many new people and I definitely enjoyed the speakers and workshops. Thanks to Tpinski for starting this thread and to choca and others for mentioning the conference.
Just an update - My "Friends in Pink Helping Friends" Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Team has raised $2,915.00 so far. Our walk is tomorrow and I've been told there will be about 4,000 walkers, 200 of whom are survivors. The money raised by each ACS Strides walk stays in your local community to help patients and their families. I'm glad that so many people care, and will proudly wear my pink team shirt, my pink socks, pink visor, and carry my pink water bottle. Oh - and a pretty pink fan (it's still HOT in Orlando) I also have COPD, and so will also be carrying my portable oxygen in order to (hopefully) walk the complete 5K route. Keep your fingers crossed for me, please.
If any of you live in the Orlando area, come walk with us, or cheer us on, if you can.
Hugs,
Karen

I am bumping up this thread hoping that the new Florida people will find it!

Good idea Lisa. Thanks.

I'm im Tampa, being treated at Moffitt.

Hello Ladies,
I just saw this thread. I'm in Chuluota, but no one has ever heard of that, so I tell people I am in Oviedo. Most people have never heard of that either, so I have gotten in the habit of saying I am in Orlando.
Looks like there are quite a few Floridians out there.
-
Hi LilacLady,
Were you able to attend the Moffitt breast cancer conference earlier this fall? It was awesome!! II was very impressed with the medical panel. A friend was treated at Moffitt for ovarian cancer and had wonderful doctors, too. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Hi auriga!!
I know where Chuluota is!! And Oviedo, too!! I've been to a fairly new shopping mall in Oriedo not too long ago. But I know what you mean - when we first moved to Kissimmee, I used to say that we lived in Orlando, but then, once Disney was built, people began hearing about the Kissimmee/St. Cloud resort area, and would actually say they knew where it was ;-)
Hope all is going OK with you?
Hugs,
Karen

Hi kdeit,
When I saw you were from Kissimmee, I figured you would have heard of Oviedo at least. You probably went shopping at the Oviedo Marketplace Mall. That is our big attraction out here. Now they say it may be closing because of the economy mess.
When we first moved here, we heard people pronouncing Kissimmee as Kiss- a - mee. I'm sure you have heard it too.
Good old Disney. Everyone seems to think we go there every single day. Do you get the same thing?
-
I know where Chuluota is too!!!
It is nice to hook up with some Florida people!
Lisa

Hi Lisa1964,
I am surprised you have heard of my little town. It used to be the country out here, but the city is quickly invading.
Port St. Lucie is a nice area too. I drove through it once or twice I think.
There has to be more Floridians out there. Where are they all?
-
I am here on Sunny and warm (tonite anyway) Indian Rocks Beach (just S. of Clearwater - W. of Tampa)
Hello to all my Fla sunny warm friends.
XOXOXOXOXO -Cathi

Hello Floridians,
I skipped the Factors Conference this year. I've gone to about 4 or 5 of them. Being Stage IV, I find it harder to attend now and listen to all the excitement. It's a little different when you have mets. I am a patient at Moffitt, tho, and have really enjoyed the conferences that I have been to. I'm glad you were able to go and enjoyed it so much. LL
-
auriga, being a horsebacking riding fanatic, I am familiar with many little towns in search of the perfect trail ride
I beleive I discovered Chuluota on my way to Lake Louisa last year.
Where are the rest of the Floridians?
-
I am bumping this up again.
Come on Fla ladies!!!!
A get together would be fun!!!!
-
whooooooooooohooooooooooooo looking for you!!!!
We are just in the midst of getting settled into our new little FL home, south of Ocala. I will be here another 10 days from today, Jan 16th. I'd love to meet some BCO-FL gals.
I've just sent a couple of PMs to the 3 folks that I'm aware of that are up here in the Ocala area.
Anyone else this far north? Up for a rendez-vous?
Will keep my fingers crossed.
-
Hi everyone. I'm in Miami. A get together would be great!
-
Welcome to Florida, Faithandfifty. Will you be coming back again soon?
I'm in Kissimmee - is there somewhere between the Ocala area and Miami where we could meet for lunch before Faithandfifty has to leave Florida?
Hugs,
Karen
-
Actually, my location is almost in the middle of Ocala and Miami.
Ft. Pierce is 2.5 hours to Miami and 3 hours to Ocala.
Lisa
-
Depending on the day, I could drive to Ft. Pierce.
I'm retired, so most any day is good for me (except if I already have a commitment).
Lisa, are there restaurants close to I-95 that we could meet at?
Hugs,
Karen
-
I am here ALL of next week and then have a lot of travel/work/invitations: Wichita, Dallas, Houston, and then to home/Ohio.
I will return in Feb for a couple of week hop.
It looks like we are gonna have a mini Ocala gathering. I've heard from Marsha and HipChik47 so far...... now we have to get a time frame. Marsha is currently undergoing rads in Ocala, so we must meet there to accomodate her schedule.
If there's anyone who is up this way -- we'd love to have you. I'm gonna work on the timeframe and will leave the details here ..... when we figure it out.
