Linora, that coat looks like it would work over so much.  Will look it up online.

Dotti, where 'ya been?  How was the implant surgery?  Has the knee been done yet?

The news keeps telling us that there will be huge markdowns in clothing this year because of the economy but I have yet to see them.  None of the catalogs are offering anything special except for free shipping.  That is not going to cut it for me.

Linora - Very nice coat. I am looking for a belted or fitted red coat and having no luck at all. Where did you find your coat?

Agreed Tina - I don't see any markdowns or sales whatsoever. I went into Macy's the other day and the prices of the boots in there? HOLY GEEZ. No wonder there was no one in the store.

I'm here, Tina!  redo on the implant went well and I was released last week.  No worries---used the aloderm to make up for thin skin and it's better positioned and stays on my chest! (novel idea, isn't it?)

Still holding off on the knee, keep swimming and no hiking (like I ever Did!).  I've been shopping and did very well.  Just a little pain med at night and I'm ok.  Until it wakes me, or keeps me from sleeping from the pain, I'll just keep putting it off.  LOL

    Thanks for asking!

Dotti, glad you're doing well.  I haven't gone back to look at your knee history but I'm a PT so wondered if they've tried synvysc for it.  Hang in there.

Love to everyone.  I got to wear my recently purchased purple high heels last weekend (did I tell you all this already???) which was fun.  They were a big hit & looked good with the purple embroided dress I wore with them (which was a very Anthropologie-like dress, except I got it at a local dress shop a few years ago for $30 on sale.  Yay!).

Ladies....do you know I have coveted a pair of red high heels my entire life and never owned a pair!!!  Somehow I am always too sensible.

I don't if you ladies know this, but Bloomingdales has a HUGE and I mean HUGE sale this weekend. I had an hour on Friday so I stopped by and they had 40% of alraedy 40% items  and then they added another 20% for this weekend. I bought a few nice Ann Klein sweaters for $35 that were originally priced at $120. I am fighting an impulse to go there again today Smile

Since I had my DIEP last year , I enjoy wearing tigther sweaters to show off my flat stomachWink A lot of my coworkers don;t know  all the details of my disability leave, so they compliment me on having a flat stomach without doing any exercises. They complain that they do exercises  crunches and still they have a bit of stomach fat that does not go away. I just tell them it's in my genes Laughing

Kathi - The purple heels and dress sound lovely!!! Would love to see a pic of the outfit. I wore my new black boots last week with black leggings and a long (mid thigh length) DKNY belted sweater that I found at TJ Maxx. Very wintery looking and so comfy!

ijl, I think if you have to have BC, ending up with a flat stomach without exercise is the least medical science can do for you!

Raye, I see you're back to a photo of your lovely grown-up face.  I'm sorry I don't have a photo of me actually wearing my purple outfit & I'm a lousy fashion photographer, but here's the outfit.  The dress is a little wrinkled, but you get the idea!  I love the outfit you described.  I love to dress that way.

The dress & the necklace.  The dress is knee length with a hankerchief hem.  It's voile over taffeta, cut on the bias so it curves with your curves.

     The purple shoes...

Close-up of the embroidered neckline & the necklace I wore (which has matching earrings):

    Whoa Mama!!

Kathi, I love the outfit - the dress is simply stunning!!! I saw a photo of you on another thread (I think the Put a Face to the Name thread); you are a beauty and that dress will go wonderfully with your dark hair and gorgeous smile.

Thanks for the compliments, ladies.  You are all wonderful for one's morale!  I'm going to bookmark your comments, so if I have a really crappy day, I can read your kind words & feel better!!

If any of you ever gets to Rhode Island, look me up & we'll go visit all the fun little dress shops around here.

Kathi..LUV your outfit...I can see you had a lot of fun with it.  One thing I've noticed about the cut of that dress is that it is very 1930s...the inverted V under the midriff emphasizes the bust and a small waist.  It is so nice to see WAISTS coming back in style!

Some of us actually have a waist...like me cause I never had kids!

I don't have a large pocketbook and I got so frustrated finding clothes in stores that I finally started making them.   I search the internet for old 40s and 30s patterns.  Here is one of my favorite patterns, worn by a model (NOT ME!!)..

Oh, how I would love to be this thin again!!

Okay, ladies, I'm back from my enforced holiday.  Power is back on.

Linora, you must get with the program and buy yourself those red shoes.

That little Brett is a future heartbreaker, or don't you want to even THINK of that yet? LOL

The purple outfit is so great.  I must try to find your pic on that other thread so I can put your face to your name.  Oh, is that the thread???

Whenever anyone asks me how I look so good for my age (as in having a flat stomach), I just tell them I made a deal with the devil.  That shuts them up..........Bad me.

This is the photo I put on the "Put A Face with the Name" thread.  My hair & my bangs are longer now, but same style.  Hey, Tina!  Welcome back!  Look out, though.  We're all getting more of the white stuff tomorrow, so they say.  Glad I don't have to work.

    The Girl is back!

    Marissa - Brett is beautiful.

Kathi - great photo! You are a beauty. Great lips.

Today, we had sleet which turned into rain, which is to turn into sleet again later today. Just totally lovely weather, but a great opportunity to wear my furry boots!

Here they are - kind of hard to make out. Looks like I need to hike up my leggings. Nothing like a little fashion shoot in the hall at work.

    Here is a side view.

Lady trooper boots!  Do you have a license to carry, too???  So cute.

Am feeling fashion deprived after a week huddled around the woodstove.

Girls, time to watch my fav Christmas movie of all time:  Christmas in Connecticut.  Barbara Stanwyck, Dennis Morgan, Sydney Greenstreet, the 1945 version.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_in_Connecticut

Watch it and everything will be hunkey-dunkey.  I guarantee it.

Let's all do a cyber/long distance movie tonight.  I'll think of you if you'll think of me.  We can all get that warm, cozy feeling of girls' night in.

After Christmas in CT, I love Christmas Carol with George C. Scott.  How about The Bishop's Wife?  DH loves that one for some reason.  I like it but it's not my fav.

Any other movies not to be missed?

We are watching The Christmas Carol with George C. Scott this weekend; another good version is the one with Reginald Owen and also the version with Alistair Sim (I think that's his name).

Another Christmas favorite is It's a Wonderful Life.

Not really a Christmas movie, but to me it seems as though it is -  Bridgette Jones' Diary - Collin Firth with his Christmas "jumpers" and ties. So cute.

Raye, those boots really are so cute.  Bet you're glad you bought them.

Just to go off on a slight tangent, my favorite Colin Firth movie is "Valmont," which is a much more poignant & believable version of "Dangerous Liaisons" that cutiepie Colin made with Annette Bening, another cutiepie.  Really funny, charming & Colin is just so adorable, you want to.........well, you can fill that one in for yourselves.

My second favorite Colin Firth movie is the wonderful "My Life So Far," which actually would be a great movie to watch at the holidays because the spirit of it is sooooo uplifting.

Had a tradition years ago with friends of mine that we used to watch "The Milagro Beanfield War" at holiday time, just because it was so charming, funny, and the little guy triumps.

    Love to you all.

A little Christmas present, ladies.  I love that he has scenes where he gets wet in both Valmont and P&P.  Well, now you know where my mind is at.......

I loved Bridget Jones' Diary.  Almost a Christmas movie, you're right.  And, I loved it when he whipped Hugh Grant's butt.

    Nice pic of Colin Firth.

The fight. "It's Rainin Men"!  Always wondered about that part of the soundtrack. LOL.
